I’ve shed a tear privately this evening after feeling sadness most of the day following the news regarding her majesty.

Part of me feels ridiculous, I didn’t know her personally but the sadness is real.

Did you have a little cry? I feel silly

I cant be the only one that had tears like watching the end of a sad film or sudden death on a tv drama that is really tragic.
When Huw Edwards repeated the death etc that was when the tears came.

I didn't cry watching the recent weddings or Duke funereal etc.

I think if you watch tv alone it can be more raw with less distraction.

No tears from me, but I certainly did feel sad for a person I don't know and never met. I only know them through media. Such a passing can still resonate with me though.

She had all the trappings of wealth and privilege, and was lucky to live a long healthy life, maybe she was very very happy, I hope so!

However, I'd assume her family life did not turn out as she would have hoped or dreamed. Allegations of infidelity, sexual abuse, financial issues, close family members falling out; if these things are true if must have been very difficult for her at a human level.

With respect to her role, she always seemed to be a "steady hand" even as the empire disappeared, the slow/steady decline in UK standing/economy, rise in nationalism even within the UK. She didn't cause any of that of course, but it must have been difficult to see such relative changes/decline during her reign.

It's also interesting to see the comments from people who did meet/engage with her. She seems to have left such a positive impression with them.
