Is it just me or does anyone else think the current news presenter sounds very sad and like he’s struggling to speak?

I thought that - he seemed very distracted suddenly

all this stuff about MM is infuriating - if she'd gone people would have been critical - as it is she's diplomatically stayed behind - and that's also wrong!

Shops were closed for Dianas funeral.

We're they? I went to the hairdressers, I remebr because most people had cancelled their appointments and I remember the hairdresser saying a lot of weddings had been cancelled.

In the afternoon I drove to visit my DGM, 200 miles of near deserted roads.

Have the 7 arrived at Balmoral yet?

Just seen them arrive on the tv coverage. I don’t think Harry has arrived yet.

No I don’t. He’s just trying to think of things to say and not have any gaps.

Strange that William and Edward both travelled in the same plane. They are the closest adult heirs to the throne after Charles - Andy and Harry are both out of the picture, I'd imagine.

Though not out of the line of succession.

Lakeyloo · 08/09/2022 17:10

TheKeatingFive · 08/09/2022 16:43

If I were Charles I would just let it go straight to William. Can he do that?

Pretty much the whole point of monarchy to not do that

I think it would be nice for William and Kate to have a few more years with their young family before having to step full on into royal duties. Let Charles have his moment. Love him or hate him, it's what his whole life has been geared up to.

Burpeea · 08/09/2022 17:10

Sorry yes brother. The word in journo circles is that she has died and the announcement is 5 or 6.

nachoavocado · 08/09/2022 17:10

If she sadly passes, will they stick the announcement on Buckingham Palace gates first?

I think he's just not quite so competent at waffling about nothing!

hopeishere · 08/09/2022 17:10

Filling when there is no new news is very hard.

If she has passed I would assume now the family has arrived an announcement will be made.

jennakong · 08/09/2022 17:10

Maireas · 08/09/2022 17:10

Blimmin hope they're out of the line of succession! Andrew Prince Regent?!

starbaby858 · 08/09/2022 17:11

Why was there 1K comments on the last one. She hasn’t even died yet??

baconbuttieswithsauce · 08/09/2022 17:11

ThickCutSteakChips · 08/09/2022 17:06

Surely she has either already died, or they know she is in her final few hours, perhaps has already had a stroke or something? Otherwise they wouldn't be having this rolling coverage on the telly, they can't keep this going for potentially days can they?

I agree. Clearly the BBC are in the know about the actual situation.

The rolling coverage today is just the start of it, it's going to go on for ages. Ok, it's a hugely significant event, but I really hope that they will keep reporting on the energy / cost of living crisis. People can't hear their homes with grief and memorials.

Getagrip123 · 08/09/2022 17:11

IHateWasps · 08/09/2022 17:08

BBC presenter has just said that the energy crisis /energy bill was insignificant compared to the queen's health.

Seriously? WTAF. Heads should roll over that.

Yep.
It's the kind of attitude though that has kept the monarchy in position. Not surprising.

Shops were closed for Dianas funeral.

They closed while the funeral was on but most opened around that , I went to the bingo in the evening and the N Circular was covered in flowers so deffo not an official bank holiday or anything

Fuck sake. We’re going to get a lot of this over the next few weeks.

I am sad about this news, but I will judge whether my energy bills going up is significant or not.

LadyKenya · 08/09/2022 17:11

TheKeatingFive · 08/09/2022 17:06

Why they are so intent on harping on about Meghan is mystifying

And then they'll start the complaints about it 'all being about Meghan'

You couldn't make this shit up.

I hope she doesn't stand too close to a window again this time. She'll get lynched.

This. It is so tedious, and pathetic.

If the worst has happened, or happens tonight, would national sporting events be cancelled tomorrow? I think they would be (and should be) but DH not so sure.

Hopefully he'd abdicate

Tierne · 08/09/2022 17:12

If there is an announcement to be made will they make it straight off the bat when everyone is ready or will they wait for a formal time like 6pm?

oldtableleg · 08/09/2022 17:12

Edward is nowhere near the top job - after Charles it's William, George, Charlotte, Harry, Archie, then the Sussex's baby before it goes back up to Andy's line.

OldEnoughToHaveReadBunty · 08/09/2022 17:12

CanThisBe · 08/09/2022 16:30

Surely she can't be that close to the end or already gone if bringing the ponies in has any connection?

I wondered if they were bringing them from paddocks into stables, possibly due to weather, possibly for other reasons.

CrabbitBastard · 08/09/2022 17:12

wonder if there will be an announcment at 6pm?

Otherwise, something has happened (like a stroke) and she won't be recovering.

oldtableleg · 08/09/2022 17:13

ooops forgot about Louis - he's after Charlotte before Harry!
