Apparently the BBC website has a black banner

Apparently it has a red one too. Hold the press.

Bbbc talking in past senses what was she like

Are they shite , they’re talking about things that happened in the past so using the past tense

shedwithivy · 08/09/2022 17:36

Sadly I think she may have already passed away. 'Remains comfortable' and ' is resting ' would not be a non-lie euphemism if she had already passed.

Of course the royal kids will go to the funeral, children go to their grandparents funerals all the time, and this is a) Their GREAT grandmother and b) Not a traumatic death

I don't think that's what the poster meant - everyone would expect them to attend the funeral, but hopefully not to be part of a procession like William and Harry were.

It was horrible to watch children being made to do that. Completely overwhelming and I think that mental health wise, it would be a no go now. Rightly so.

HOW DO YOU KNOW??

I'm not @shrunkenhead obviously but I said this earlier too, and on the first thread as well. A journalist I'm close to told me.

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 17:37

It's amazing how many people know someone who knows something.

losca · 08/09/2022 17:37

Millions of pounds will be spent on the Queen's funeral while her subjects face freezing to death. Sickening. The sychophantic worship is blood boiling.

Dorisbonson · 08/09/2022 17:37

Because that's the

Ilovelindor · 08/09/2022 17:37

BBC News are showing ariel shots of the castle and there were two men on the roof by the flag pole.

oreobiscitz · 08/09/2022 17:38

Its funny to think she met with Boris and Liz yesterday and today her health has deteriorated

oxydant · 08/09/2022 17:38

headstone · 08/09/2022 17:29

Indeed it wouldn’t look good if Meghan was there and Kate wasn’t. It seems like Kate doesn’t want the children to see Grannie dying which is fair enough.

Yeah even being in a different wing would be weird for them

LookItsMeAgain · 08/09/2022 17:39

Lockheart · 08/09/2022 17:31

No it doesn't and it would take 3 seconds of your time to verify this.

It does have a black "ribbon" (to use a Microsoft term) at the top of the site. This section is usually red:

BBC News are showing ariel shots of the castle and there were two men on the roof by the flag pole.

But the flag shouldn't change because we are never without a monarch.

losca · 08/09/2022 17:39

At least the Queen will die in warmth and luxury.

shrunkenhead · 08/09/2022 17:39

@baconbuttieswithsauce because I have my sources and know people who know.

LimboLass · 08/09/2022 17:39

the fact they have been speculating into what is wrong with her suggests she is still hanging in there to me.

Remember when everyone had a DH or a sibling or journo friend or Downing Street cat or whatever who would come onto threads and tell us all sagely when the country was locking down for covid! Takes me back Wink

Dorisbonson · 08/09/2022 17:40

Whoops posted early. The 6pm announcement is what was rehearsed for Operation London Bridge so is long-standing plan for this event. The news presenters were dressed in black this afternoon with black ties and the sign language man was dressed in black too - possibly a tad too early for the announcement.

LuckyLil · 08/09/2022 17:40

shrunkenhead · 08/09/2022 17:39

@baconbuttieswithsauce because I have my sources and know people who know.

What are they actually announcing?

BloodyHellKen · 08/09/2022 17:40

Lockheart · 08/09/2022 17:33

No it didn't. That's the "accept cookies" bar which is black with orange text and which appears whenever you visit it from a new browser.

I checked the BBC Facebook page earlier and it was definitely a BBC black banner on there rather than the usual red one.

AllTheCarsForMe · 08/09/2022 17:40

How often is the changing of guarda cancelled?

Ilovelindor · 08/09/2022 17:40

Antarcticant · 08/09/2022 17:39

It flies at half mast though when someone dies

watcherintherye · 08/09/2022 17:40

Whatever you think about the monarchy as an institution, the death of the Queen will be a terribly sad and momentous event, both for her family and for the Nation. You would have to be devoid of empathy or any sense of history, not to be moved by her passing.
