Ah now here......

I'm going with Erasure "Have a little respect....ooooohhhhh" 🎶 🎵

I was thinking the Queen is dead by The Smiths will be getting some airtime

oxydant · 08/09/2022 17:28

WildFlowerBees · 08/09/2022 17:27

I'm finding the BBC coverage of nothing really intrusive. We've been told all that's needed why can't they allow the Queen and her family some much needed privacy and announce anything else as it's needed.

It's bizarre to cancel all programming to cover... nothing. Why can't they report the news when it becomes news

ThickCutSteakChips · 08/09/2022 17:28

I'm feeling quite sorry for these newsreaders now - this is some epic filling!

Badger1970 · 08/09/2022 17:28

I think the coverage is ghoulish.

HM deserves better.

Wheresthebeach · 08/09/2022 17:29

I can't image we'd be getting this coverage if there wasn't an announcement expected.

headstone · 08/09/2022 17:29

Indeed it wouldn’t look good if Meghan was there and Kate wasn’t. It seems like Kate doesn’t want the children to see Grannie dying which is fair enough.

Fenella123 · 08/09/2022 17:29

EmptyHouse0822 · 08/09/2022 17:21

Ok, so nothing specific has happened or been announced, but because the family are all going to Balmoral the assumption is that she’s seriously unwell?

Thank you.

Most likely (my guess) is she passed away earlier today and everything is being lined up for the announcement.

So her family get to say their goodbyes and come to terms with it in private for a little while at least. And so the many, many things that need organising can be set in motion.

Lampzade · 08/09/2022 17:30

Apparently the BBC website has a black banner

SunshineClouds1 · 08/09/2022 17:30

Sky news said Kate was staying with the children as it was their first day at their new school.

Rosewaterblossom · 08/09/2022 17:30

When she passes, do you think they'll make the official announcement at the usual news time (6pm/10pm etc) just announce it at a random time? When Philip died they announced it on the lunchtime news.

oreobiscitz · 08/09/2022 17:31

Crikey!

Too many people posting tributes to the Queen on social media

A celeb just posted something about it being a sad day and dreading the day we receive this announcement.

Save the tributes and mourning til she's officially gone

Unless they already know something.....

Lockheart · 08/09/2022 17:31

No it doesn't and it would take 3 seconds of your time to verify this.

sunglassesonthetable · 08/09/2022 17:31

Yawn. And how would you know? On second thoughts don't bother answering, you don't.

Innit 🙄

no it doesnt- not on safari anyway

shrunkenhead · 08/09/2022 17:31

Announcing it at 6pm.

lilroo87 · 08/09/2022 17:31

Yalda Hakim, a BBC journalist, apparently tweeted earlier that the Queen had died. Has obviously since deleted her tweet and apologised but wondering if she just tweeted information she had already been told

Wheresthebeach · 08/09/2022 17:29

I thought this, it would look pretty bad if they did all this and she turned out to be fine after all!
Personally I think it’s very sad, as it is whenever any family loses a much loved member, even at such a decent age. I hope, when it is her time, she doesn’t suffer and that, if she believes such, she is back with her husband once again.

Burpeea · 08/09/2022 17:31

@ThrowingSomeCrumbs I spoke to DB and he said that many journo's are saying it is 6pm.

ThickCutSteakChips · 08/09/2022 17:32

I also think these newsreaders know she has already died - the is 'London Bridge has fallen down' already in action isn't it?

They keep tripping over their words as if they are going to say 'her death' or 'she has died' but then stop themselves and say 'whatever the situation is'.

It’s really shit. This has been planned for years. It’s like watching a rehearsed play with no story.

headstone · 08/09/2022 17:29

Well probably Granny is beyond dying, but my Mum kept things as normal as she could when my Gran passed away, I think that's fairly standard isn't it?
Little kids still have developing brains, so they are sad but tend to take bereavement in their stride unless it's a parent or similar.

Lockheart · 08/09/2022 17:33

diddl · 08/09/2022 17:32

No it didn't. That's the "accept cookies" bar which is black with orange text and which appears whenever you visit it from a new browser.
