Meghan not going, or not invited?

Littlemisspawpatrol · 08/09/2022 17:24

Edward and Andrew in that car together look like they're from different generations rather than brothers!

Huw is back.

He probably needed a comfort break 😉 😆

And a cuppa.

Xiaoxiong · 08/09/2022 17:25

I also agree that it's not a great and unexpected blow to lose the Queen, if I could have designed a more perfect end to a long life - no long illness, no dementia, not too long after her husband has gone so no long loneliness of widowhood, none of the serious indignities of great age (at least publicly), usefully working till the end (for someone who clearly takes her duty seriously), lived to meet her great grand children, surrounded by her family in a comfortable place she loves - it's a loss but not a tragedy.

You have to admire her sense of perseverance and sheer will to die in harness, especially when other monarchs around Europe have retired early.

spoonielife95 · 08/09/2022 17:25

@oxydant i imagine it’s a case of her not being wanted there - I imagine the senior royals especially William had a part to play of her not being there - to avoid the drama and always because she’s not trustworthy enough not to make public comments afterwards

Indeed, and to come up with some new things to say having been on air since 2pm with no real new information to share.

Kate isn't their either.

spoonielife95 · 08/09/2022 17:26

@prettylittlethingss yes but that’s to comfort the children at home…

Tierne · 08/09/2022 17:26

Meg wouldn't have been invited

Edward's red hankie? I get that it might be premature to be in black before an announcement, but a red hankie if she's already gone? Obviously it could just be the one he always has but details like that are usually taken care of in their worlds.

KittenKins · 08/09/2022 17:26

You know something like this is coming, I was talking to my dad the other day about how this was likely to be the last PM the queen meets. I feel strangely sad already

Mitsouko67 · 08/09/2022 17:26

I'm glad for the Queen she's in her
favourite place. She is a brave woman who when she dies will be surrounded by her family.
May she go gently into that good night
after a lifetime of service.

Tierne · 08/09/2022 17:26

So are we just waiting on Harry now then?

Againstmachine · 08/09/2022 17:26

@lawandgin
just my personal feeling - a mark of respect, a national day of mourning. Plus some other selfish reasons. I have tickets to the cricket tomorrow...😬

Many people will be relying on those events for wages, so no they shouldn't be.

oxydant · 08/09/2022 17:27

Kate isn't there either? Fair enough

ShepherdMoons · 08/09/2022 17:27

I know people are saying that it is not unexpected or such a blow to lose the Queen but I think it is when you think how long she has been a monarch. She seems to be a stabilising influence, a figure of constancy and dignity, someone that has been in my life for as long as I can remember. It's what she represents to the people.

Notplayingball · 08/09/2022 17:27

LadyCampanulaTottington · 08/09/2022 16:31

Maybe the ponies have nothing to do with what’s happening?

You could be on to something there...

CanThisBe · 08/09/2022 17:27

Tierne · 08/09/2022 17:26

I don't think they'd wait for Harry. He's not even officially Royal and the rest of the GC aren't there, only William.

WildFlowerBees · 08/09/2022 17:27

I'm finding the BBC coverage of nothing really intrusive. We've been told all that's needed why can't they allow the Queen and her family some much needed privacy and announce anything else as it's needed.

Lampzade · 08/09/2022 17:28

The light left her eyes when her husband died

oxydant · 08/09/2022 17:28

She certainly a figure of dignity which is severely lacking in most of today's society

baconbuttieswithsauce · 08/09/2022 17:28

Feelfreetocallme · 08/09/2022 17:23

I’ve had to switch off the tv. I’m very sorry someone’s granny is about to kick the bucket but could do without the constant coverage. I’m more concerned about actual things that effect me like the cost of living crisis.

I'm with you. I really hope the BBC gets a flood of complaints about the newsreader who said that the Queens death / health is more significant than the cost of living crisis Angry

spoonielife95 · 08/09/2022 17:28

@WildFlowerBees i agree if she is still alive that is pretty tasteless actually and if there is no announcement at 6pm then what an awkward finish to 3/4 hours of them repeating themselves

LadyKenya · 08/09/2022 17:28

Tierne · 08/09/2022 17:26

Yawn. And how would you know? On second thoughts don't bother answering, you don't.
