The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

Festoonlights · 08/09/2022 12:44

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

Won't they fly by helicopter rather than drive from Balmoral?

Also, there's a private plane coming from Northolt as well (GILZZ) on flight radar - possibly a second group joining them?

Mine does. On safari, not sure about other browsers. Maybe their IT team went a bit overboard😵‍💫

I’m on safari and mine doesn’t. Just the black bit about cookies at the top.

Flight Radar has several helicopters in Aberdeen atm

They go to the oil rigs in the North Sea, most of them.

Lots of helicopters waiting at that airport on flight tracker

They’ve flown in from the oil fields. They won’t be royal related. However an raf jet is about to lane there presumably with RF members. Perhaps the airport was closed while the private jet landed.

Sorry the privacy statement is black, it's usually red isn't it? When i first looked just now there was a black text box edging to some stories but that isn't there now

No they rebranded it a while back

Where's Cliff Richard? The country needs him.

We really don’t

The ribbon at the top of the BBC website is black to me too. Is that what you're talking about?

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 15:42

There are always lots of helicopters around Aberdeen. I'm slightly obsessed with flight radar ...

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 15:42

Are some of you really tracking the flights??

On sky news they are basically interviewing anyone vaguely connected to her

Wait til she dies and everyone TRIES to get interviewed.

Seven members of the Royal Household due to land at Aberdeen to go to Balmoral.

So my guess is there is certainly not going to be anything until sometime AFTER they've arrived.

You have time to do other stuff for a while.

SavingsThreads · 08/09/2022 15:42

'You could see the faces of concern within the House of Commons, whilst MPs listened to the statements on energy prices and bills' help from the prime minister.

There were notes being handed around, the prime minister was briefed, as were the leader of the opposition and the speaker - and people shortly after that left the chamber.'

From the BBC - www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-62834633

Fair enough @Sigma33 but I was stood in central hall and no one left. And why would MPs leave the PMs speech on energy packages because the Queen is ill? What would they be leaving to do?

"I have been preparing my children - as I did not want this to feel like another thunder bolt (like covid) in their lives. As the fallout of the Queen passing will be bigger for many people than even covid. She has been our rock, our steadfast rock in all of the troubles for so many decades, no matter what happened we always had the Queen to rely on."

Bit much.

Yep.
Sure all those who lost people to covid, who couldn't go to funerals of loved ones, who are struggling with bills, unable to afford food and using food banks, unable to see a GP, waiting literally years on hospital appointments and so on, are all cheered that the Queen was there for them.

This is not a national tragedy.
We've had a lot of those, and this is not one of them.

BBC reporter has basically just said she's already gone and they're waiting for everyone to get there to announce Shock

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 15:43

The ticker along the bottom of my tv went black then red again ( bbc news )

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 15:43

I think they will announce at 530 ahead of news bulletins .

If not then, then 930. But I think it will be 530.

So much history created in the last 2 years, it blows my mind.

Tierne · 08/09/2022 15:43

Can you remember the exact words?

LookItsMeAgain · 08/09/2022 15:44

That flight is looping around a bit, it's going up to Haddo Country Park and turning around by the looks of things.

Frazzled2207 · 08/09/2022 15:44

Interestingly the raf jet from Northolt to Aberdeen seems to have flown right over aberdeen. Looks to be doing circles. Possibly weather related.

Tierne · 08/09/2022 15:44

@stillherenow
What history, you mean like covid and stuff?

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 15:45

Veeragall · 08/09/2022 15:42

Are some of you really tracking the flights??

On the basis this is a massive historical event, yes . I always get obsessed with news though , as an ex journo !
