The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

What's going on at the gates of Balmoral? A man is taking a sign down. Looks really odd thing to be happening.

@LadyKenya @TheKeatingFive
Some people dont like Megan. Move on.

How you can claim not to like someone you have never met, or spent time with is beyond me. However why not follow your own advice.

If she has died I assume there'll be an embargo in place.

Will it be lifted on the hour?

Or will BP release a statement, and will this be on the hour?

Would be really announce her death at 3.17PM, or wait until 4?

I wonder if they would wait for a suitable time, so tea time, morning or dinner time, rather than as close to the event as possible.

lisavanderpumpscloset · 08/09/2022 14:58

Twitter suggesting she's already gone and we're just waiting on the family to say their goodbyes and protocols be put in place before the announcement.

I feel so sad and we don't even know anything yet

Right now we have a female monarch, a female PM, and a female deputy PM

Yes. Didn't think of this before

ClaraLane · 08/09/2022 14:58

Announcement at 3pm I wonder?

There are lots of cars going in and out of balmoral - does this mean anything?

It means there's lots of people visiting Balmoral.

The next two lines of succession are there. Thats a high security issue. And its rare.

George staying with his Mum in Windsor is a security decision as much as its a family one. He's next in line. They won't take the risk of all 4 generations being in the same place at the same time.

Vapeyvapevape · 08/09/2022 14:59

Whether you like the royals or not, the Queens passing is an historical moment.

I've just put telly on why did he drop the sign?

Mrsnononsense · 08/09/2022 14:59

I’m afraid she’s either already gone or on life support that’s going to be switched off after the family says their goodbyes…

Anunusualfamily · 08/09/2022 14:59

Better photo angle when the inevitable announcement is posted?

What channel

TheKeatingFive · 08/09/2022 15:00

Some people dont like Megan

The question is why they think they've any insight or authority to state where she should be in this situation? It's ridiculous.

Move on.

It's not us that have issues moving on.

Though I cannot wait for the people who are right now making this all about Meghan, complaining that it's 'all about Meghan'.

LicoricePizza · 08/09/2022 15:00

Is it appropriate that BBC1 has cameras fixed on Balmoral gates & are broadcasting about her life - feels a bit bad taste to me.

Dinoteeth · 08/09/2022 14:59

Its was a no entry sign. Perhaps to allow for lots of increased traffic in and out over the next few days? Perhaps because we've seen lots of cars going in past a no-entry sign. People get very het up about weird stuff at times like this.

Probably 4 cars in and three out I thinness than 5 minutes

There’s a fair few of the family due to be arriving shortly

therealgeek · 08/09/2022 14:55

Is anyone else just sitting in front of BBC news? It feels rather morbid

Honestly, the reporting seems as if she has died already. It's horribly mawkish level of watching every car arrive etc.

NeckFanInSoftPlay · 08/09/2022 15:01

Rapidtango · 08/09/2022 14:53

I think it's just one more thing to add to the growing list of things adding to a somewhat febrile atmosphere.

To have a HOS be in place for so long does provide a sense of stability and continuity, we probably won't realise how much this has impacted on the country until it's no longer there.

Not looking forward to the hysterical outpourings which are unnecessary and undignified, but do feel a bit discombobulated. Also think, at the moment, anyone making 'clever' comments or being downright uncivil should perhaps take a long hard look at themselves.

Forgive me but what is a HOS please?

Yes good point - it did look a bit jarring.

Protocol is to post an announcement on the gates of Buckingham Palace. Its possible that if she's at Balmoral they would do it there.

So yes, it probably is in line with protocol.

girlmom21 · 08/09/2022 15:03

Did anyone hear that phone ringing in the background of BBC News then? Every little thing that happens is putting me on edge.

Tierne · 08/09/2022 15:03

You get that these are casual chat boards, right? Where people just offer up their thoughts and opinions on things? It's not a board meeting
