Is she the only person left in the country that still pronounces it Kee-ev?

<misses point>

Nat6999 · 05/09/2022 13:05

Fromdownwest the latest poll suggests Labour would get a 176 seat majority if a GE was held now.

girlmom21 · 05/09/2022 13:05

@MattDillonsEyebrows it's not misogyny to say that a specific woman isn't the best person for a specific job.

Riapia · 05/09/2022 13:05

Out come all the Jeremy worshipers, weeping and wailing and gnashing their teeth.

Lol, imagine actually thinking MN was dominated by corbynites.

reesewithoutaspoon · 05/09/2022 13:06

I,m calling it now. Despite the energy companies making vast profits on the current cap level. she will freeze it at say 2.5k and people will be grateful they arent paying 3.5k even though the energy companies could have cut costs and still make huge profits. and people will be thankful for it and forget all the other shit they have done over the last 3 years

theworldhas · 05/09/2022 13:06

Boris, you got Brexit done. You crushed Jeremy Corbyn, you rolled out the vaccine. And you stood up to Vladimir Putin. You were admired from Kyiv to Carlisle.

what a lovely unifying opening message (sarcasm)

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/09/2022 13:02

does she actually plan to send troops into Ukraine?

I suspect she won’t but as foreign Secretary she had said she supported any British fighters who chose to go to Ukraine, and had to be promptly corrected by Ben Wallace.

She is widely considered to be far more hawkish than Boris and the Kremlin have already commented that they can foresee poor relations with the UK getting worse under Truss. Not sure what on earth worse could look like.

creamwitheverything · 05/09/2022 13:07

As a life long Tory even I am sat with my head in my hands, I cannot see any rainbows ahead sadly. Only thing worse and its just my personal view is the Labour Party so silent when this had been THE very best goden opportunity they will ever ever have to make so much noise to capitalize on the current crisis and they did not do it. Not one MP shoud have fucked off this summer and leave the country foundering as it did, even the civil service who run everything have been left ...this is unforgivable on all fronts.

mamabear715 · 05/09/2022 13:07

Aww Jeez.. :-(

Honestly, if you want to hold yourself hostage to fortune that Truss will be great no-one's stopping you. Have at it.

Where have I said that Truss will be great?

Considering this thread subject you’d expect to see the reasons why people are despairing. But nope, just a lot of people agreeing we need god to help us now she’s PM and no explanation why they think that way including you.

carefullycourageous · 05/09/2022 13:08

I know we are fucked and it is all really serious but I personally am quite enjoying this new era where I feel I genuinely am better qualified to lead the country than the PM. With Wilson, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron and May I think they were all better qualified than me. Johnson has gifts in the sphere of presentation, but ethically and judgment-wise he is very much bottom tier. Truss though, hahahahahahaha! I am really looking foward to PMQs going forwards.

Notlosinganyweight · 05/09/2022 13:08

If Carrie hasn't steamed the gold patterned wallpaper off then I think the first thing on Liz's to do list will be to get some gold leaf and fill in the gaps.

theworldhas · 05/09/2022 13:09

Her main problem IMO isn’t the fact that she comes across as somewhat dim witted. It’s that she’s the leader of a party that’s spent the last decade+ wrecking the country - and she supported nearly of it.

ancientgran · 05/09/2022 13:10

VickyEadieofThigh · 05/09/2022 12:48

For months, when anyone has said Johnson needs to go, there have been a load of people saying "But who would replace him? There's nobody better!" I kept saying "Of COURSE there will be - there are hundreds of Tory MPs to choose from..."

Bloody hell! Who would've thought that Truss was the best they could come up with?

The way things are at the moment you have to question why anyone would put themselves up for the job. There are probably loads of Tory MPs who would be better and one sign of that is they had the sense not to stand.

Yes absolutely. I thought this very ill advised (which suits me fine) as she needs to appeal to the people who have moved away from the Tories in the last year i.e. the people who would no longer support Johnson. So quite a weird section.

Not one though is it?
its three.

Don’t get me wrong, I think we need a new government, the Tories have been in too long, but until Labour decide that women are actual people they aren’t getting my vote.
The Conservatives at least recognise women and minorities. Might not be the ones you want, but they are more diverse than labour.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/09/2022 13:11

She is younger than Me!
how dare she

If you were Starmer, would you actually want your party to be responsible for clawing the country out of what promises to be one of, if not the, worst recession in living memory? The position of PM right now is a poison chalice with extra strychnine.

WonkotheWonderDog · 05/09/2022 13:11

It's a poisoned chalice and it's poisoned more able politicians than her.

I wish her joy of it.

SherbetDips · 05/09/2022 13:11

How will you run the country then expert?

The thread is not titled 'give explicit reasons why you think Truss will be bad'. It's just a soundboard for instant gut reactions.

You're getting annoyed for nothing.

Fandangoes · 05/09/2022 13:12

FreddyHG · 05/09/2022 12:56

To be fair unless you moved home in the last year there is no reason to be paying a 6k fuel bill. If people didn't choose to fix (I did and paid an early exit fee to do so because it was so clear where energy prices were going) last September that isn't the states problem.

are you forgetting that a LOT of energy suppliers went bust and all their customers just got moved to a new energy provider on the standard tariff, therefore losing their carefully picked fixed tariffs through no fault of their own!!

The Tories as a whole are less diverse and the parliamentary party itself is less diverse. Leaders - clearly three female MPs is a clear outcome.

Out come all the Jeremy worshipers, weeping and wailing and gnashing their teeth.

Um, this has nothing to do with Corbyn.
I've no idea why Truss thought it worth mentioning him either.
Move On (& stop gushing about your good friend Boris: 'admired' ? I think not)
