Homemade cauliflower cheese served with sausages and/or bacon. Can't go wrong.

DustinsHat · 03/09/2022 00:01

Lentil soup. It probably costs about 30p to make and is so tasty and easy. Tastes like home.

On the weekend I do a full bag of pasta and divide it into two big traybakes. That becomes two of the following:

Mac (or other pasta) n cheese n bacon
Pasta in tomato with ham and mozzerella
Chicken in creamy mozzerella sauce with rosemary, thyme and nutmeg
"Meat feast" pasta in tomato sauce with cheese and salami/chorizo/ham

Stick in the oven during the week with a garlic bread and it's quick, filling, usually has leftovers for lunch and oh so soothing.

I do a meal we call pesto rice.

Enough rice for however many people. Get that on to cook.

In a pan, mix a whole large jar of pasta sauce with 2 tins of tuna, a whole jar of pesto and a good handful of grated cheese and as much garlic as you like.

Dump that on the rice, give it a stir and it makes a lovely, warming soupy Thing. If you're feeling fancy, put some naan bread on the side of scooping.

Start to finish is 15 minutes.

sometimes I make a packet of ramen instant noodles, I add in a packet of steamfresh vegetables, and some cashew nuts and a bit of grated cheese, and its so delicious and the veg and cashews give it texture and nutrients

Willbe2under2 · 03/09/2022 11:48

Toad in the hole
Sausage chips and beans

I'm also watching with interest as I'm in the mood for comfort food this evening....

Comedycook · 03/09/2022 11:48

Fry a few halved cherry tomatoes in olive oil with a teeny splash of balsamic vinegar. If you have, you can add garlic and/or chilli.

Toss with cooked pasta...I like tagliette or spaghetti.

Add parmesan or fry some breadcrumbs and toss together.

Very cheap, quick and delicious

Whataboutitthen · 03/09/2022 11:52

Beans on toast with grated cheese on top

HandbagsnGladrags · 03/09/2022 11:52

Make my own arrabiata sauce, no meat just lovely spicy tomato goodness, serve with pasta and grated cheese on top. V cheap and delicious.

LampLighter414 · 03/09/2022 11:53

Crisp dinner. Whole big bag of cool original Doritos is the best

Whippetquick · 03/09/2022 11:53

Creamy buttery mashed potato is my comfort food with nice sausages, nice chicken pie braised steak, boiled bacon

Jam suet sponge pudding or syrup, creamy rice pudding with nutmeg, and of course custard with vanilla in it

Peachyscream · 03/09/2022 11:54

Veggie rice.
Fry a chopped onion, brown it then add a chopped tomato. Add frozen chopped veg (Carrots, peas, sweetcorn, red bell peppers is what I used). Add a little salt, pinch of turmeric and a veg stock cube. Add rice and water into the pot.
So easy and all my kids will eat it.

LilacPoppy · 03/09/2022 11:55

Frozen mash made with butter, with grated strong cheddar, black pepper and chopped spring onions.

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 03/09/2022 11:57

Baked potato, costs about 25p. Microwave for five mins and then crisp up in the oven Then lots of cheese, baked beans, worcs sauce and brocc (or asparagus - cheap goes out the window!).

StolenWillowTree · 03/09/2022 11:57

People always find this weird or gross, but toasted tomato puree and cheese sandwiches.

YourWinter · 03/09/2022 12:01

If I want comfort food I don’t want to faff about with the hob, oven and washing dishes. My go-to is always cheese on toast. Two slices of bread from the freezer, into toaster. Slice some Cheddar cheese (I draw a line at buying it pre-sliced or pre-grated, a knife is easier to cl

I don't understand why people would find this weird isn't just a quick 'pizza'.

knife is easier to wash than a grater. Butter toast on a plate, arrange cheese, microwave for 45 seconds to melt cheese, shake of Worcester sauce. Bliss. Sometimes slice a tomato with the same sharp knife.

BrutusMcDogface · 03/09/2022 12:05

I may be a bit odd but my comfort food is pasta, a whole tin of plum tomatoes to myself, with red pesto and cheese. Bloody love it!

My friend at school used to have buttery mash when she was feeling a bit blue. Her lovely mum used to make her a big bowl when she thought she needed it!
