Do you care that Liz Truss had an affair?

On the one hand, I feel that it's her own business, but on the other, I want a PM I can look up to, who I can trust, who has dignity. After Boris, after his endless lies, Truss doesn't inspire the integrity that I want to see in my country's leader. AIBU?

No, I only care that shes a populist idiot who will jump on any bandwagon she can to be further her career.

MrsFezziwig · 01/09/2022 00:14

Not as much as it bothers me that she’s an incompetent fool.

This

SherbetDips · 01/09/2022 10:10

Couldn’t careless,

RayneDance · 01/09/2022 10:15

Personally I don't care.

However I would care if she was trying to present herself as a paragon of virtue and goodness.
I think this is where Boris was let off. He never presented himself as an Amazing paragon of virtue whose better than anyone else ( then has numerous DC by different women's and affairs).

What seems to trigger me is people like Jeremy Corbyn trying to present themselves as a sort of saintly paragon of virtue and goodness compared to the evil Tories then...jts exposed about numerous issue's especially: that's torrid affair with Diane abbot etc 😱.

So as long as she doesn't present herself as this higher being,it doesn't bother me

Cheminaufaules · 01/09/2022 10:17

Yes, since it shows she lacks integrity.

RayneDance · 01/09/2022 10:17

The only thing I care about right now is the crisis engulfing us...none of them seem bright enough to get us through it.

I think a coaltion government with helpful people only devoted to the UK and it's people who want to get us through need apply.

Eg Angela Raynor can have a break!

Name a prime minister within your living memory that was worthy, someone you felt able to look up to with respect. Someone you trusted who you felt had the peoples interests at heart. <Ill wait>

Gordon Brown.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 01/09/2022 10:27

I couldn’t care less. She’s a Tory, the bastions of everything illegal, greedy & immoral.

There’s more integrity in my little toenail than there is in a Tory’s whole body.

SheWentWest · 01/09/2022 10:46

No, but I do care that she is a raging nasty Tory.

Arenanewbie · 01/09/2022 10:49

I don’t care about the affair she had nearly 20 years ago, it’s between her and her husband. And since it was her political mentor 10 years old then her, I actually blame him mostly.
Boris’s affairs were different. It was non stop cheating and lying. It doesn’t go under “ one mistake “ list imo.
However saying this I don’t like both candidates but I’m not a Conservative party member so it’s irrelevant.

hedgehogger1 · 01/09/2022 10:57

I liked Gordon Brown. He seemed like a normal person. The British voters just seem to want "characters" though. Which generally just means arseholes

Corbyn was separated, Abbott was single, they were free agents, hardly a "Torrid Affair"
Neither cheated nor lied to anyone.

Don't know why you put etc, unless your trying to suggest he was a serial liar and cheat... with out a shred of evidence.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 01/09/2022 11:16

people still getting triggered by Jeremy Corbyn over absolutely nothing?

KettrickenSmiled · 01/09/2022 11:17

Hoolihan · 01/09/2022 00:29

John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Theresa May all had integrity and were not liars.

Tony Blair - not a liar?!
😂😂😂

Are you too young to have heard of the non-existent WMD that led to hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths in Iraq @Hoolihan?
The Chilcot Report?
The "suicide" of Dr David Kelly?

StormTreader · 01/09/2022 11:19

I don't care at all but she's awful and if it keeps her out of the PM seat then all the better.

babyjellyfish · 01/09/2022 11:20

I really could not care less about Liz Truss's sex life.

I care much more about whether she is competent to run the country, and if she isn't, how we get someone who is competent into No.10.

Abhannmor · 01/09/2022 11:21

Brown and Blair - chalk and cheese really. Gordon Brown isn't hobnobbing with media magnates and desperately trying to amass a fortune on the after dinner circuit. He's not courting celebrity.

But people want ' a bit of a lad' for some reason. Truss might be as daft as a brush and liable to start a nuclear war but lot of voters like a bit of colour don't they? She puts it about , great , you go girl!

worriedatthistime · 01/09/2022 11:21

No as that isn't any of my business and its not illegal ll i care about is what a PM is doing to help me and others not something between them and their dh

worriedatthistime · 01/09/2022 11:22

@Hoolihan did John major not have an affair ?

Abhannmor · 01/09/2022 11:24

MsTSwift · 01/09/2022 08:54

Definitely Gordon Brown. The worst his wife had to say about him was he once used a sheet as a table cloth when they had visitors

That is brilliant! It sounds so in character too.

GoneWithTheWine1 · 01/09/2022 11:24

She also said to abolish the royal family. Why is nobody talking about that
Boris had multiple kids with multiple woman - nobody battered a eyelid.

babynamequestion · 01/09/2022 11:24

worriedatthistime · 01/09/2022 11:22

@Hoolihan did John major not have an affair ?

Yes, with Edwina Currie.

And Tony Blair is rumoured to have had one with Wendi Deng.

Viviennemary · 01/09/2022 11:26

I agree. Compared to her other failings it is totally insignificant. She really is going to be the worst ever PM. Awful. At least Labour will be rubbing their hands in glee. With Teresa May there was some hope if her doing an ok job. With Truss its a recipe for disaster.

KnowtheBand · 01/09/2022 11:27

I think you'll be hard pressed to find anyone with enough life experience to be PM who hasn't had affairs. IME they're very common indeed in the general population, but especially so in anyone who's ever worked in a high pressure or powerful job.

AgnestaVipers · 01/09/2022 11:35

For all his faults, we were better off having Boris.

Wow. I'm curious to know why you think this?
