I just ate a whole pack of french fancies

And I don't feel even the slightest bit unreasonable. In fact, I bought them knowing that I'd sit and eat them all as soon as I got home.

What do you regularly buy, knowing that you will use/eat the lot of it?

I bought an indulgent £5 gift cake from M&S which was sponge with jam between two layers and hundreds and thousands on top. I ate it all and am still fishing out some of the hundreds and thousands from the kitchen worktop. It was a bit sickly but I enjoyed it at the time.

For balance I also enjoy those large bags of crisps but haven't bought any for ages. I never share them.

FlowersareEverything · 31/08/2022 12:17

I love the After Eight flavoured French Fancies at Christmas, although not by the boxful Just one or two …maybe three…

Harls1969 · 01/09/2022 09:34

Oh. The bags of chocolate Brazil nuts from Costco

Vampirethriller · 01/09/2022 12:40

Someone mentioned peppermint creams- years and years ago Thornton's did white chocolate double cream peppermint creams and I still think about them.

I saw that exact cake advertised yesterday and though f me that looks good

I have confessed my cheese addiction but husband has 36 Christmas puddings in the cupboard. Some vintage!

Rubyupbeat · 01/09/2022 17:14

A victoria sponge, you know the ones, boxed in sains or tesco. I can scoff a whole one and enjoy every mouthful.

RestedDevelopment · 01/09/2022 17:27

I prefer savoury than sweet so the whole chicken 🙏🏼

I have hellish insomnia & have eaten many a midnight feast, taking a whole roast beef joint with a bit of salt to dip, up to bed is incredibly indulgent & comforting.

I could probably binge on anything I found tasty, I don’t worry too much about it because half my eating is entire roast joints/plates of cheese & crackers/jaffa’s (full moon, half moon, total eclipse Grin) & the other half is water/juice/tea with maybe an apple or toast.

I’m kind of all or nothing so it balances out.

Thoroughly glad I’d food on before reading this thread though or I’d be hunting the cupboards for snacks 😯

I'm not a massive fan of normal fancies but Mr Kipling does a Bailey's (well, Irish cream) flavoured version at Christmas and I eat those by the box. Those, Tesco Finest mince pies and After Eights don't stand a chance around me.

Stressybetty · 01/09/2022 23:35

Can eat a really nice Victoria sponge cake all by myself but would be over the course of a day

That reads like the MN Food Thread version of "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon. I'm sure there's a line in it about being consumed too Grin

It reminds me of the awful American programme Man v Food that my hisband was addicted to watching!

Mollyplop999 · 02/09/2022 19:52

Oh dear. This thread set me off and I've just eaten a box of French Fancies. Love the chocolate ones. Diet starts again tomorrow 🙄

That’s an impressive amount of sugar! 128g if it’s an 8 pack. Do you feel ok? Are you shaking?!

Oh leave off, OP obviously loved it! OP I am totally living vicariously through you right now...I have IBS and one french fancy would probably make my stomach explode, let alone a packet... unfortunately knocking back a packet of rice cakes doesn't have quite the same ring to it - so I'm sadly the most healthy/self controlled person on this thread but I wish I wasn't 😄

Man v food was brilliant but always shown at tea time when i wanted the American food he was having!!

Proseccoagain · 02/09/2022 21:31

Rowntrees red and black fruit pastilles. A bag doesn't last long...

Gillume · 03/09/2022 07:38

Yes ditto on this one!

LiveshipParagon · 03/09/2022 07:48

Twiglets. I have been known to eat a whole one of those Christmas barrels... I have to force myself to decant them into a bowl 😬

Also flying saucers. Those giant sweet-shop size tubs are wonderful as you can finally get enough! None of that "5 saucers per pack" stingy bollocks.

malificent7 · 03/09/2022 08:18

Pink wafers or bounty. Lots of people don't like those 2 things so more for me!

Tunus · 03/09/2022 08:29

Fresh crusty bread, Brie, Jaffa cakes, maltesers, dark choco Leibniz, dark chocolate gingers and those sensations poppadoms. I usually stop at a reasonable amount…

French stick

What's French stick?

@Vampirethriller Snap me too! They were amazing. When the shops were still on the high street I always used to go in and just check to see if they had restarted making them.

Baguette.

Loving this thread! Got to about page 11 then had to skip to the end though otherwise I'll be here all morning 😆. I'm so relieved the are so many people out there like me - feels like therapy 😉

Ones that come to mind for me - packet of hot cross buns (Waitrose definitely my favourite), large bars of chocolate (Dairy Milk whole nut preferably), any size bag of peanut M&Ms, sweet popcorn, Soreen malt loaf (preferably with butter)

Feeling quite peckish now.....

I think you may be my twin. In fact I thought I had written this post and forgotten!

Have you had the Waitrose hot cross buns, I can't remember their name but they are extra special luxury ones with extra peel? (Even the "normal" Waitrose ones are luxury to me ) Salted butter, naturally? The DC like President but it's so eye wateringly expensive these days.

God I want a hot cross bun now.
