Topic for traffic.

Just as the title states; if your say 30ish, just getting your life on track, new job, new home, new school for the DD or DS, then one of your parents comes to stay after being absent due to living abroad for a few years, the stay turns into 2 months, then they say they want to perhaps live with you permanently...

Would you feel obliged to say yes?

Absolutely Not!

grey12 · 29/08/2022 17:06

No. Doesn't seem like it's an age/illness question, the way you put it. So I would avoid it.

I'm living with inlaws to save for a mortgage and, as amazing as they are, can't wait to move out 😖

Robin233 · 29/08/2022 17:06

No
And not really fair on the kids.

DisforDarkChocolate · 29/08/2022 17:06

No, I barely cope with living my husband and son.

Kitkatsareace · 29/08/2022 17:07

Definitely not!

Missmarps · 29/08/2022 17:07

No chance.

For our sanity .

dogcheck · 29/08/2022 17:08

No

NovaDeltas · 29/08/2022 17:08

No, I don't speak to either of them.

If I did, I'd still point out I am an adult with my own life, as are they, and they have to go and stand on their own two feet.

Annieisalright · 29/08/2022 17:08

Omg are you my cousin in the midlands and is your mother a narcissist 👀

Bonbon21 · 29/08/2022 17:14

NOPE!!!
I wouldnt have lasted two months!!

Your house...YOUR decision...doesnt matter what they want....

NippyWoowoo · 29/08/2022 17:15

No but seriously OP, my cousin has similar with her mum. She just rocks you and stays for ages on end.

I wouldn't mind it if I didn't have a life to run, but my mum and I get along and i enjoy her company.

dannydyerismydad · 29/08/2022 17:15

Nope. One of my parents I haven't seen in more than 15 years (their choice). And they would get short shrift if they came for a short visit, never mind a stay.

The other parent I see twice a week. That's quite enough.

NewerCurtains · 29/08/2022 17:18

If I had the space, 100% yes!

TokyoTen · 29/08/2022 17:19

Absolutely not!
