Help me get some mental clarity Mnetters.

DH and I have 2 DC 3 and 9 months. Thinking of grabbing a cheap bit of winter sun in Nov, all inclusive 4/5*.

want it to be mid 20s at least to have lounge by pool/ beach and not do a lot else sort of hols. Basically 0 intention of leaving the hotel compound/ beach area somewhere that can’t be walked to.

talked to DM about you know as light convo and she balked at the destinations. Insisting they weren’t safe, hygiene would be poor, health care should anything happen would be insufficient and that it’s tantamount to neglect and me putting my selfish need/ want for a hols about my kids welfare, it’s just got me questioning myself.

looking at -
hurgurda in Egypt
looked at and dismissed Ayala and izmir as I think they aren’t that warm in nov
cape verde
dubai ( unlikely as seems pricey but maybe can find a deal)

shes being ridiculous right? Would you take your kids here? I just need to soundboard that these are perfectly legit places to take kids.

OP haven't read the whole thread, but have you considered Jordan? The weather in Aqaba in November should be excellent and the red sea will be nice for swimming, not sure what the temperature would be in November but I'm sure it will be warmer than the med!

XelaM · 29/08/2022 19:53

Dubai would be a very safe choice in all respects

JuvenileEmu · 29/08/2022 19:54

Also I found Jordan to be much less hassle than Egypt, and I felt much safer so much more relaxing :)

Lcb123 · 29/08/2022 20:10

What about Canary Islands or the Azores?

DollyDabble · 29/08/2022 20:10

Malta, family friendly, should be warm in November with not a lot of rain.

Bringing the holiday forward to October then Spain, Greek Islands and Cyprus would all be options for budget child friendly holidays.

I’d love to, I thoroughly enjoyed Jordan! I’ve got a sneaky suspicion it’s a bit out of our price range but im going to have a butchers

The cold sea is off putting in the canaries although anywhere you go in Europe or Egypt you'll need a heated pool.

Well you might not. I would. I'm an absolute wuss with cold water.

Azores have a cold sea too.

XelaM · 29/08/2022 22:01

The Red Sea is not cold. We spent December in Eilat several times and it was always around 30 degrees and the sea was warm. So I can't imagine the water in Egypt being cold in November.

But I agree about the water in the Canaries being cold.

Anyway, I would choose Dubai as it fits all criteria - guaranteed heat, very safe, great hotels.

The sea was warm in Egypt but the pools were freezing in November.

I personally wouldn't go to any of those places with young children. From experience (from before I had kids) the hygiene isn't good at all and now I've got kids and see how they scrab about on the floor etc or "accidentally" drink a drink that's got tap water ice in it etc, I just don't think it would be relaxing. That's before you consider the safety aspects.
I agree with other posters - Canary Islands are much more set up for family holidays
