DD had a party yesterday for her birthday and instead of getting 2 of the supermarket traybake things for £6/7 each, we ordered a Costco sheet cake thing.

OMG I have never tested anything so awful in my life. The actual sponge cake is passable. The jam - well I've never tasted anything so synthetic and un-jam like in my life. And the frosting is just 100% sugar.

But people rave about how lovely it is?😱

And agree with Hersheys chocolate not tasting good, but their fudge syrup is so good warmed on sundaes!

Some people like Hershey 'chocolate' and Krispy Kreme donuts.

There's no accounting for tastes.

@Nekomata "Maybe I was unlucky but I had a Colin the Caterpillar cake for DS once and was completely underwhelmed. It was just a dry swiss roll cake."

You're not unlucky, we found that too; it's a bog standard cheap swiss roll in caterpillar clothing(very sorry Colin!) ! I'm actually so uninspired by swiss rolls in general that I'm going to attempt making a yule log myself this year for Christmas. I'm beginning to think though it may be they all have to have a tasteless light chocolate sponge to roll without cracking!

It’s the ultimate highly processed food!

I cannot stand it.

Most supermarket cake is pretty rank though. However the Coop does a carrot cake made using real butter!

Quite like a Krispy Kreme.

@Trying20 I still don't find Colin good I'm afraid or bubblegum flavour etc. It has nothing to do with ingredients or chemicals or what ever else, I just don't like the taste! Cooplands cookie monster now that I can do!

Costco in general are expensive and not that great in terms of quality. There are much better warehouse clubs here.

Their cakes have that synthetic taste to them with way too much sugar.

Which clubs are better? UK and US?
I know Sams Club is popular don't think Wegman does.
