I love a sandwich with cheese and jam, preferrably strawberry jam, but other flavours are nice too.

Who is up for trying it an telling me if I am really weird or you like it too?

Also, what other weird food combinations are nice and should be tried?

Fuck off, I’m not doing that

Your great loss.

@AdaHopper no need to ask, I'm a life long cheese & jam girl!

@ cheese & fruitcake.

there's not much that cheese doesn't improve!

My Hungarian SIL makes a "comfort" dish with leftover homemade baked macaroni cheese heated in a bowl and a couple of big spoonfuls of jam stirred in. She sometimes adds sugar and cream, which is too much for me, but I like the mac/cheese/fruit combination. She uses strawberry or raspberry jam but I like it best with something tarter like chili jam or cranberry sauce.

Hmm never say never, but I'm not rushing out to give it a go!!

Oinkypig · 29/08/2022 01:33

Haven’t read the thread, bad form I know but bacon and banana is the ultimate combo, toastie is best, then sandwich and the pizza ( I’m sorry I’m normally against even pineapple on pizza)

Young apprentice winner 2012 Ashleigh unsustainable wants her recipe back! Wink
Wonder what she's doing now?

SequinsandStilettos · 29/08/2022 01:47

Unsustainable? No idea why that is there. It should say Ashleigh rang. Confused

Just back from Portugal and we had an amazing cheese dish with pumpkin jam. Was lush. But I'd had a bottle of Portuguese white so maybe not the best judge

thenewduchessoflapland · 29/08/2022 13:11

I make chicken and stuffing toasties with jam in;it's amazing.

Glittertwins · 29/08/2022 13:29

Raspberry jam and cheddar is lovely!

bravelittletiger · 29/08/2022 13:30

This was a childhood staple for us. Cheddar cheese and strawberry jam. Delicious. Nothing weird about it really- it's basically just cheese and chutney.

We used to have macaroni pudding... no cheese though 😋

SweetSakura · 30/08/2022 08:05

I like beetroot and marmite sandwiches...

magratvonlipwig · 30/08/2022 09:11

Cheese n jam makes sense.. after all we put apple sauce or cranberry jelly on savories. And chutney on cheese.

Im partial to a sliced tomato sandwich with salt and vinegar crisps on top squished so you can hold the sandwich ! Thin sliced ham..optional.

Also fish fingers with coleslaw

And pickled onions on fish n chips

Getoff · 30/08/2022 09:23

I'm amazed there are so many people who find this strange. It was an absolutely routine sandwich filling in my childhood.

GryffindorWarrior · 30/08/2022 12:12

A big yes to the cheese and jam sandwiches!

also, a cone with plain, vanilla ice cream and scoop it with ready salted crisps! Delicious!

Bonjovispjs · 28/08/2022 08:53

God no, but I hate sweet and savoury things together, that's right up there with the evilness that is pineapple on pizza!

Though it is very italian to have cheese and jam ( especially fig jam) as a starter..

youlightupmyday · 30/08/2022 12:16

I like sausage and marmalade sandwiches made with wholemeal toast...

I have no idea why on earth you would even think about trying this combination.

But now you've mentioned it, once I'm allowed out to the shop again (Friday - got covid) I'm going to try it..

kimchifox · 30/08/2022 12:38

I used to eat cheese and apricot jam on toast ALL the time as a child. TBF there wasn't much else in the cupboards but I did love it!

BuffyFanGirl · 31/08/2022 18:35

Oh yes! This is my kind of thread. Love cheese and jam!

My FIL like peanut butter and sliced tomatoes but there is no way on earth I am going to try that!

I do like bacon & banana sandwiches. Even better if the banana is fried too.

Ed Gamble mentioned on a podcast that garlic bread with cheese and marmite is delicious but I haven’t tried it yet. It sounds banging though 👌🏼
