I love a sandwich with cheese and jam, preferrably strawberry jam, but other flavours are nice too.

Who is up for trying it an telling me if I am really weird or you like it too?

Also, what other weird food combinations are nice and should be tried?

Yes cheese and jam sandwiches!! Haven't had one for years but I'll definitely be making one today.
It was a big favourite when I was a child.

Sausages and peaches are eaten together in Belgium. As is ham with pears.

And meatballs and cherries too. Yum!

I LOVE butter and cheddar on digestive biscuits.

KvotheTheBloodless · 28/08/2022 13:16

When I was pregnant I loved cheddar, raspberry jam and pickled gherkin sandwiches, on cheap white bread. I've not had it since I gave birth though - I had hyperemesis gravidarum so I can't face it!

"The absolute exception is dipping McDonald’s fries in chocolate milkshake."

This!

The dessert in Yucatan is called Marquesita. A crepe with cheese and jam. Yum!!

@Applebark yes that is it! Dulce de membrillo.
We also had dulce de manzana (apple) and ciruela (plum), all to be eaten with cheese

Rowgtfc72 · 28/08/2022 20:37

Cheese spread and strawberry jam.
And grated cheddar and marmalade.

burblish · 28/08/2022 20:56

Jersey black butter (a kind of apple butter with spices) and Stilton on crackers (digestives if you want it really sweet) = heaven! Crunchy peanut butter with extremely thinly sliced raw onion or slivers of pickled onion on rye bread or cheesy crackers is also splendid.

My Hungarian SIL makes a "comfort" dish with leftover homemade baked macaroni cheese heated in a bowl and a couple of big spoonfuls of jam stirred in. She sometimes adds sugar and cream, which is too much for me, but I like the mac/cheese/fruit combination. She uses strawberry or raspberry jam but I like it best with something tarter like chili jam or cranberry sauce.

Cheeringmeup · 28/08/2022 21:53

Cheddar cheese and jam (usually strawberry) on warm, freshly made pancakes (scotch pancakes, or as we say here, pancakes). Perfect comfort food as made by my Aunt May, back in the day 😋

Dartsplayer · 28/08/2022 22:20

It's been my favourite since I was a child and I still enjoy it as a treat now in my 50s

TheSummerPalace · 28/08/2022 22:46

Ham in currant buns, like sandwiches - the sweet and salty go together really well!

ITA about cheese and Christmas cake together - bliss!

slugHell · 28/08/2022 22:50

My great-grandad was a miner and used to each cheese and jam sandwiches every day for lunch. Down the pit the coal dust would get into everything so the jam kept it moist!

SquirrelSoShiny · 28/08/2022 23:00

YANBU it can be delicious

Queenelsarules · 28/08/2022 23:17

Strong cheddar and lime Pickle in a sandwich with 'good' bread is just the best.

Pleasegodgotosleep · 28/08/2022 23:24

Very common in Scitland, its called a "pitman's piece" (coalminers sandwich) where I'm from 😁

entropynow · 29/08/2022 00:00

Black pudding with spaghetti. Also peanut butter and lemon curd

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/08/2022 00:22

Pecorino and sour cherry jam.

MrsClatterbuck · 29/08/2022 00:37

BrioNotBiro · 28/08/2022 08:32

Mmm, cheese and fruitcake...

Love cheese with Christmas cake especially Wensleydale. Only jam would be chilli jam.

MoistBandana · 29/08/2022 00:39

Make 2 slices of toast.

Put cheese on one and grill it till melted.
Put jam on the other side..

Put them together.
Cut into halves.

Eat.

Gorgeous

My sister started this in our childhood and the rest of us said "yuck" and then I actually tried it. I love the combo, although I prefer a slice of American cheese with grape jam. This was also the only sandwich my son would eat when he was little.

My other favorite combo is dipping fresh hot McDonald's fries into a vanilla shake. People think it's weird until they try it.
