ShockShock

I was folding laundry in my bedroom and this chap fell out, across my wrist and onto the floor.

I'm thinking of ways to catch it safely without hurting its legs. Normally I'd put it in my hands and out the window. Not happening this time!

Does anyone know what type of spider this is?

And did I say, HELP!!!!

Funny you should mention signs of a harsh winter, my dad always said if rowans are red in July to expect a bad winter. I noticed they were very red a few weeks ago and commented to an elderly farmer friend about them, he said the same.

I did also see this morning a flock of geese flying south. I was thinking it’s just because the lakes are that way, but now after this thread and you mentioning the rowans….

ThePumpkinPatch · 27/08/2022 22:42

As my Uncle would say "It needs a collar & a lead..."

KittenKins · 27/08/2022 22:42

I am pathetically scared of spider, to the point as a child my brother would place fact cards about them outside my door. I'd refuse to leave or even attempt to jump over them for fear I'd touch one with my foot.

Urg.

I don't usually advocate murder, but this is the time I make exceptions I'm afraid.

Harmless garden spider just pick up and pop outside. No fuss needed!

I do wish people would stop with the "But why are you frightened of them? They're harmless!" It's very irritating.

Yes, we know they’re harmless, thanks. It's a phobia. We know it's irrational. That doesn't help. I mean... there are people with phobias about buttons fgs. Nobody's claiming phobias are rational!

THIS!!!!!!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Woodlice spiders do not bite
Confused

Are you an expert? I think you’ll find that they do bite.

Aww that's kinda cute. I've loads of spiders in my bungalow, mainly in the bathroom and my bedroom. They don't bother me so I just let them come and go as they please. I just have to remember to check the bath before I turn the shower on that there isn't one sitting in the bath so it doesn't get flushed down the plug hole. I did get bit by a spider the other day though. It must've gotten caught inside my top. I could feel something digging in my arm and I just assumed it was maybe a piece of twig or something that had got caught when washing was outside on the line or a bit of stitching. Put my hand inside to to have a feel and found the culprit and when I pulled my hand out a small spider was on my finger. Must admit I did jump a bit and the poor spider got chucked on the floor. I then spent most of the night apologising to said spider for accidentally killing it. Wasn't painful or anything I just had a rash around the area and 2 different bite marks with a hole in the middle

There’s also lots of acorns where I am and we had mist/fog this morning too. Some may say old wives tales but in 2018 the same things happened when the beast for the east hit.

pinheadlarry · 27/08/2022 22:51

Good luck
I left a spider in the window corner thought it was cute, then she had a eggsac so I put her in a pringles can and then tried to get her egg sac, it burst.. 100s of her babies all over my walls, and I still keep seeing them ..

Dobbysgotthesocks · 27/08/2022 22:52

I have a huge one above my kitchen cupboards on the ceiling. No idea if it's male or female by it's named George. George and I have an agreement that if I don't bother him he must stay up there whenever I'm in the kitchen.Thems the rules and if he breaks them I unleash the dogs 😂

ncforthis1pcmarriage · 27/08/2022 22:52

Suck it up in a cordless vacuum then deposit it outside. That's what I did today Confused

Bumpsadaisie · 27/08/2022 22:36

She's a big old girl isn't she!

She's been getting so big as she's been eating all the flies and moths and aphids in your house.

So don't hate her.

This

stillvicarinatutu · 27/08/2022 22:55

I tried sucking up in a hoover but seems they're quite delicate actually 🙈

limitededitionbarbie · 27/08/2022 20:20

Just move or burn your house down.

Only 2 options here as PP said above!!!!!

justasking111 · 27/08/2022 22:55

Something bit OH in bed last night and it's gone a bit nasty. Bit nervous going to bed tonight. I don't mind big spiders it's those false widow ones that get me going

fUNNYfACE36 · 27/08/2022 22:56

I used to be afraid of spiders. And then DS1 bought 5 tarantulas and now house spiders don't seem.scary at all.Theyvae sensitive and fragile little things

Amiable · 27/08/2022 22:58

We've had a couple at home - they are fucking massive this year!

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/08/2022 23:00

CaptainFlubby · 27/08/2022 20:37

Just so you know, entirely harmless and very good at keeping flies out. We have one in the bathroom. Every now and again there is a flurry of babies in the bath that I have to catch and let go on the floor. They all disperse around the house. They pop up every no and again, eating all the flies and keeping my house fly free!
Love them, such useful beasties 🥰

You’ve just added a new question to sellers if I ever move. 😱

Workinghardeveryday · 27/08/2022 23:01

Get a big shoe, smack it, hoover.

job done

ZeroFuchsGiven · 27/08/2022 20:42

Can I ask WHY everyone is scared of spiders?

Oh maybe just thousands of years of evolution to avoid something that could kill us???

stillvicarinatutu · 27/08/2022 23:02

I wanted a Mexican red knee tarantula but my dd said if I got one she would never ever set foot in my house again .

She was the same when I had pet rats . 🤷🏻‍♀️

Flubber88 · 27/08/2022 22:54

This

That’s not a girl spider, it’s too small. It’s a boy spider.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/08/2022 23:04

Those saying kill it, I just couldn't. I don't believe I have the right to do that and other than staring at us, the spider was causing no harm

Well done OP Flowers

I have one of these too (name of Incy) and practically every night it comes out for a scuttle across the carpet, wanders round the room and presumably goes back to base ready for the next time ... quite sweet really, and happily the cats leave it alone
