To send my neighbour's parcel back and not give to them

So I’ve just had a parcel delivered from justfab. My neighbours name but my address and postcode. They’ve used the second line of the address to say “deliver to (their door number) it looks like they deliberately had it ordered to my number. Why would anyone do that?

This neighbour has lived near me for three years. All through lock downs. They’ve made it very clear they didn’t want to be neighbourly for example I wave if we pass each other etc. They make eye contact but ignore me. I pull over so we pass each other on the small road. They refuse to. Even if it means me reversing 20meters and they would have to reverse a couple of feet.

Aibu to just send it back to justfab?

Just send it back.

RealBecca · 26/08/2022 17:52

Give it to them and ask why they had not addressed like that and make it clear you dont want it to happen again.

johnd2 · 26/08/2022 17:54

Decide what to do based on what kind of person YOU are, not based on what kind of person you think THEY are (unless you are worried about safety or other consequences to you)

It’s most likely a first time user discount code she used, that can only be used once per household so she’s put a neighbours one instead

This is most likely why she has done it. But that’s extremely cheeky given that she’s a bitch to you and hasn’t asked permission.
so given that, I’d send it back, stating you weren’t sure if it was some kind of scam.

I'd hand it over in hope that if anything of mine was delivered to them accidentally they'd do the same. I don't fuck about with immature games anymore.

One woman is lovely, but the other has shouted abuse at me over the fence when my kids were a bit too loud in the garden for half an hour and also has a serious issue with me feeding the wildlife 🙄

But I'd just hand it over to her and be excruciatingly nice about it.😁

But this wasn't delivered to OP accidentally, for whatever reason they've put their name but OP's address. Possibly a reasonable explanation but seemingly unlikely.

Canthave2manycats · 26/08/2022 18:08

Contact justfab and ask them to arrange collection of the parcel.

holidaynightmare · 26/08/2022 18:10

@mummy203

I'd take it in and not do anything with it until THEY come and ask for it - give it a couple of weeks then bin it

incywincyspidery · 26/08/2022 18:11

My guess is that for some reason their own number didn't come up on the address search so they selected yours but added to deliver to theirs on the additional details bit. They're not going to deliberately get it delivered to you if they are that unwilling to be neighbourly because that would involve them having to come and collect and actually speak to you and say "thank you"!

Spanielsarepainless · 26/08/2022 18:11

Ring justfab, tell them the addressee doesn't live at your address and could the courier please collect for return. Someone using your address is never a good idea.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 26/08/2022 18:15

If they have done it for a big discount as a "first time" buyer how utterly cheeky, it means you can't use the discount if you ever wanted to order from them. Honestly i'd return as "not known at address". Only take a few minutes to thrown something random in basket on the website to see if her own address does pop up.

ThisIsAddiction · 26/08/2022 18:16

I’d also send it back. If it’s accepted at your address you won’t ever be able to use a just fab discount in the future if you wish to!

Hiddenvoice · 26/08/2022 18:18

I’ve made this mistake before- put in my postcode
and clicked the address. Only once I’d paid I checked and realised my mistake. I couldn’t alter the address but I could add a note on to say to be delivered to my address. I get on well with my neighbours so I knocked on the door and let them know of my mistake. It might easily have been a mistake but since uoh two don’t seem to get on, she maybe didn’t want to bother you. I wouldn’t send the parcel back, I’d knock on her door, give it to her and just ask why your address is on it- don’t need to be rude about it just query it.

Hiddenvoice · 26/08/2022 18:19

Also usually first time buyer discounts are based on email accounts and not usually home address.

Marinamountainzoo · 26/08/2022 18:21

Is just fab clothes or shoes? My neighbour used to order clothes to be delivered for when her DH wasn't home cos he didn't want him knowing what she was spending. I dropped her in it once by taking her enormous Boohoo parcel in and then handing it to the DH.

ChickinMarango · 26/08/2022 18:27

I’m pretty sure they do new customer offers so they may have signed up for this after already having their own account? Definitely send it back, if they ask tell them the postie asked your name and it wasn’t you so they took it back.

Theres a group of neighbours I ignore. For over a year I gave clear singles I didn’t want to chat (e.g breezy hello but walking on if they tried to engage me). Despite this, every time they try and make inane small talk. I find their behaviour to be really rude, so I ignore them now. I also refuse to take any parcels and my heart sinks when somethings dropped off at one of their houses as I know they’ll try and chat.

They might be relieved if you send it back and refuse to take any future parcels.

Wow you sound delightful. Are you this antisocial in all your dealings with other people?

Irridescantshimmmer · 26/08/2022 18:31

Write ' Delivered to wrong address' on the parcel and post it back.

That way, you don't have to communicate with the awkward nieghbour.

AnxietyLevelMax · 26/08/2022 18:32

It is just a parcel and it doesnt cost u a thing to give it back to them. Why creating so much drama in ur own life over a parcel…

lll3333 · 26/08/2022 18:36

They sent it to yours because you'll be home to accept it & they're out?

Send it back, Not known at this address 👍👍👍

This.

SpindleInTheWind · 26/08/2022 18:41

The obtuseness on parcels threads is always awesome stuff.

Marotte · 26/08/2022 18:44

Yep, it'll almost certainly be the discount. Technically it's fraud on their part and although you can't be held responsible, it's not good that it relates to your address.

I would pay money to get it back to JustFab's registered office, and send a separate letter explaining that you believe there has been a scam, with details of its arrival, and a photocopy of the Cert Posting as well as closeups of the address label to prove exactly what it said.

Because I would not tolerate someone using my address like this.

Jamaisy82 · 26/08/2022 18:49

Usually a discount is based off a new account new email etc and has nothing to do with the actual home address. It could be a complete mistake, I'd just take it round or wait for them to come get it. Best not to jump to the worst conclusions.
