If you were given £50 to cheer yourself up, what would you buy?

My lovely brother has transferred £50 into my account to treat myself to something after I had a little cry on the phone to him this morning.

Feeling really stumped though as I don’t think I’ve spent money on myself since my first baby was born 8 years ago! I’m determined to treat myself though. Just looking for some inspiration!

I'd focus on things that will make me feel good for a little while. Perhaps a book, a decent coffee/bottle of gin, decent warm socks for winter?

Is that really boring?

CrotchetyQuaver · 25/08/2022 18:26

When did you last visit the hairdressers? If not in ages then I think I would use it for that

GingerAndLemonn · 25/08/2022 18:27

He’s alright isn’t he!

Ive bit decided on anything yet but am loving all the ideas!

A night away, even if it was a Premier Inn in the nearest town, just to be alone for a bit!

Dogscanteatonions · 25/08/2022 18:35

New boots for winter. M&s have got a great selection just in - I'm seriously impressed this year

MuddlerInLaw · 25/08/2022 18:36

If you haven’t been able to spend £50 on yourself in the past eight years I’m not surprised you’re finding yourself upset. Can nothing reasonable be done to change this situation?

In the meantime -

Take yourself to the theatre or a concert.
Or get a haircut.
Or sign up to a coffee bean subscription.
Perfume or a single malt seem equally attractive.
Or catch the end of the sales and buy a beautiful wool beanie for the coming winter.

Really hope you’re able to treat yourself to something that cheers you up.

What a gem of a brother!
I think I would go for perfume. Scents evoke memories and it's nice to remember such a lovely thing he has done, especially when you're having a crap day!

Spanielsarepainless · 25/08/2022 18:40

A bottle of Lagavulin single malt, but that might be more than £50!

rc22 · 25/08/2022 18:45

Books
Manicure, pedicure or facial

Wish my brother was as lovely as yours!!😊

Tootsey11 · 25/08/2022 18:46

Books or a few plants.

caringcarer · 25/08/2022 18:50

What a caring brother you have. I'd choose a cream tea for 2 and invite him to go with you. Then a bottle of wine or a book to use the rest up. Enjoy your treat op.

XenoBitch · 25/08/2022 18:53

Some games for my Oculus.

Oopsiedaisyy · 25/08/2022 18:55

Lovely lunch out, piece of jewellery

diddl · 25/08/2022 18:56

Would have to be books for me.

Cheap from Ebay or charity shops to get as many as possible😁

Bluevelvetsofa · 25/08/2022 18:56

I’ve treated myself to a heated throw, so I’d get one of those, plus some posh choc. The throw has the benefit of keeping you warm as the weather cools.

AmberGer · 25/08/2022 18:58

What a lovely and generous brother you have!

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 25/08/2022 18:59

At the moment...a days extra childcare so I could have some peace and quiet 😫

BabyDreamers · 25/08/2022 19:00

Wine, lunch, snacks, nail varnish, new book.

Sprig1 · 25/08/2022 19:00

Lunch out/a take away, a magazine, bubble bath and a box of chocolate/other lovely food. Enjoy your treat.

Homewardbound2022 · 25/08/2022 19:01

How about a Chanel lipstick and nail varnish?

Hakeandling · 25/08/2022 19:02

I’d get my nails done, buy a new book, some m&s snacks & bubble bath and enjoy my book and nibbles in the bath.

or get my car cleaned and buy an m&s ready meal dinner and eat it in front of the tv

or go out for lunch with a friend

Philandbill · 25/08/2022 19:03

Cinema tickets, and for matinée performances as cinema in the daytime feels even more of a treat.

Campervangirl · 25/08/2022 19:03

Get to primark where your money will go further.
Buy some new jeans, a pair of boots or shoes, a couple of tops and a scented candle.
I love primark

Squirrelsnut · 25/08/2022 19:06

Personally, I love the pp idea of a train ticket somewhere nice and a solo lunch.
What do YOU view as a treat you rarely get?
I got my lashes lifted and tinted recently (£40), it's made such a difference!

FiveDollarMilkshake · 25/08/2022 19:10

I’d get new pyjamas Smile what a thoughtful and kind brother you have, enjoy treating yourself!
