Is there anything more repulsive than Boris Johnson pretending to give a shit about Ukraine?

Has he no shame?

And is there anyone stupid enough to fall for today's crass publicity stunt?

Reckon he's looking for his next job. UN ambassador or somesuch.

coffeerevelsrule · 24/08/2022 17:56

Are you yet another person blaming someone else for your issues?

What on earth does that mean?

I have several issues IWBVU to lay at Johnson's door (a useless ex, a broken back door, my car having developed a suspicious rattle to name a few). Then there are some issues that I most definitely do lay at his door, as, you know, PM of the country I live in. A few of those would be shit on the beaches, fuck all on half the supermarket shelves, the fact that I spent over 14 hours on a chair in A&E a couple of months ago...There are more. They may not all be directly his fault but he certainly deserves a share of the responsibility as 'leader'.

@MarshaMelrose the outcome of a policy does not necessarily reflect its driver

He made and has driven the policy. Why do you want to withhold credit for it?

Bretonbear · 24/08/2022 17:58

In answer to your question, No there is nothing more repulsive than that.

Ohhhhladz · 24/08/2022 17:59

There's a massive security alert for Kiev because today is Ukrainian Independence Day. It's probably very reassuring for people that Johnson and Duda and whoever else are there.

But don't worry, the real UK PM has things under control in London!

Boris Johnson may have done many things wrong but his stance regarding Ukraine has been bang on the money.

Absolutely right

Is their anything more repulsive than people using the illegal invasion of another country to signal their distaste for a politician on the internet?

This! Boris has a great many faults and I’m far from a fan, but his stance on Ukraine is spot on.

And yet you won’t even take responsibility for organizing your own budget, which you must admit, is very poor.

itsgettingweird · 24/08/2022 18:04

StillGoingStrongToday · 24/08/2022 17:39

Why would you think that he doesn’t care? Just your own prejudice?

I'd be guessing because up until it became a chance for him to do his Churchill bit he was quite happily taking money from and allowing mass interference from the very country that invaded them?

The only thing worse than Johnson is the fact we may end up with Truss.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 24/08/2022 18:04

@Keepingupappearance

Mr Johnson, obviously.

bellinisurge · 24/08/2022 18:05

Speaking as someone with a Ukrainian born grandfather and who is horrified about what is happening to his birthplace, Johnson is cosplaying a world leader for his final days cosplay as PM.
If it gets attention for Ukraine, that's all good.
However, he could maybe look at offering emergency assistance to his fellow countrymen and women who might not be able to heat their homes this winter. Or tax the energy companies.

itsgettingweird · 24/08/2022 18:07

For anyone that watches actual politics the 1922 committee a few months ago highlighted to him and he couldn't answer the fact he's giving away our weapons and military infrastructure quicker than we can replace it.

A good leader doesn't leave their own open without the ability to defend themselves.

Hence - Johnson isn't a good leader. He just likes a good sound bite and to feel popular.

greenalltheway · 24/08/2022 18:07

The man is leaving as PM in a couple of weeks and literally doesn't HAVE to travel to a country in the thick of war on a day of heightened fears of attacks on civilians.

You can hate the man and hate the party but christ on a bike... I doubt very much he's risking his life for the lolz and attention today.

SantiagoSky · 24/08/2022 18:08

I actually think that's exactly why he'd risk his life.

I 100% am behind supporting Ukraine and have done my bit with what I can offer.

But I 100% don't trust that Johnson isn't in it for himself.

Yes, yes there is. A man who has completely abdicated his responsibility to his job and fellow citizens who uses a war torn country as a bolt hole (more than once) to distract from the huge mess he’s created in his own country.

Don’t you? I don’t think you’ve being paying attention.

How about he sorts out the concerns regarding the Ukraine citizens here in the UK and their asylum concerns?

VeniVidiWeeWee · 24/08/2022 18:15

@bellinisurge

President Zelensky seems to disagree with you. He has just awarded him the Order of Liberty.

tttigress · 24/08/2022 18:18

Maybe he is flat hunting, he seems to be quite popular there.

EmmatheStageRat · 24/08/2022 18:20

I believe he’s been an utter gobshite as a Prime Minister but I think he has been brave to be an early supporter and visitor to Ukraine (and I say this begrudgingly as I am not a natural Tory or Boris supporter).

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 17:47

I support his position on the war. But it is very naive to think his position is because he cares about people or juditce

He said and did the right thing because it was a way to gain popularity. Since he has stepped down from the little that he did when in the role of PM, he's done very little to show support.

As for the other contenders for the role of PM - scary!
How are these people do devoid of feeling and moral compasses?

MarshaMelrose · 24/08/2022 18:25

coffeerevelsrule · 24/08/2022 17:49

I don't think they are in a position to care about what his actual motives may be.

Motives? What are you talking about? Johnson has helped them in lots of ways and has persuaded others to do the same. They're grateful to him.
Why don't you calm down and go get a nice cup of tea.

applespearsbears · 24/08/2022 18:25

He's eyeing up his post PM career... goodwill ambassador anyone?!
