To ask for your thoughts on having more covid vaccinatinns

I have had covid twice now and had 2 moderna vax in the first round. I was super ill after my 2nd vaccination and didn’t have a booster as a result. I had covid in March 2020 and was really rough & then again in June 22 and was rough but only for a few days.

I don’t really want any more jabs to be honest- I feel like having had it twice plus being double vaxxed is enough but not sure and I wondered what the general view out there now was?

No thank you, I have had 2.
@SimonAndGarthsUncle I am a qualified nurse so not quite so thick!

Maray1967 · 24/08/2022 18:09

I’ll be there as fast as I can for both the covid and flu jabs. My youngest was quite poorly with delta covid - which he caught just before his age group could be jabbed. Vaccines all the way in this house. Thank God all our wider family are the same.

HesterShaw1 · 24/08/2022 18:09

I am categorically not having any more Covid vaccinations. Enough.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 24/08/2022 18:09

I won't be taking another vaccination.

I was any sicker than any of the people who hasn't had the vaccination.

I'm grateful that I'm not CEV though and keep a respectful distance from people.

Tiredmum100 · 24/08/2022 18:10

I'm not having any further vaccinations.

ScarlettnotOHara · 24/08/2022 17:41

Definitely will have the vaccine . I got covid in July and was really sick even after having three vaccines. I dread to think what if had I not been vaccinated.

People still think this?

RampantIvy · 24/08/2022 18:11

I have had both vaccines and the booster. So far I have managed to evade the dreaded lurgy, and so has DH. We haven't exactly been hibernating either. I'm not sure why we have avoided it so far when just about everyone else I know has had it. Fingers crossed I still manage to avoid it.

I did feel a bit odd the following day after I had my booster (I think it was moderna), but felt fine after the first two jabs.

I will be first in the queue for the next lot of vaccinations.

TurkishDelightForTheLittlePrince · 24/08/2022 18:12

My partner is having his 5th or maybe 6th I can’t keep track, early autumn. Already got his appointment letter. So far, the jabs have worked as he’s avoided catching covid. He’s prepared to have as many as it takes as he can’t afford to get ill with it due to his underlying medical issues. I’ll happily have more too and so will my kids if they are offered.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 24/08/2022 18:15

I’ve had 3 Pfizer vaccines, the last one was nearly a year ago and I got my appt for the booster through the post today.

I was fine after the first 3 and haven’t had covid, I really hope I can get a bivalent vaccine this time, hopefully the Pfizer one if it’s approved in time.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 24/08/2022 18:21

I didn’t have the vaccine, because I have had severe allergic reactions in the past. I have not had Covid, although I have lived as normally as I have been allowed to do by the lockdown fanatics.

Mangogogogo · 24/08/2022 18:22

I had two and I feel done.

Happy for those who want them to continue to receive them on the NHS absolutely

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 24/08/2022 18:24

I'll be getting any offered.

hopefully the bivalent one.

cev, over 50 & underlyings.

FiveDollarMilkshake · 24/08/2022 18:24

I wish people would stop calling them “vaccines” when the covid ones don’t stop you from getting it. it’s awful that simply questioning these means that people start calling you names and labelling Roy incorrectly as an anti vaxxer. Shows just how well the scare and fear mongering has gone.

Don’t blame you for questioning it at all OP, it’s your body and your health at stake and anyone getting their information from the companies who are pushing these is completely misinformed and not undertaken their own research as a free thinker. Anyone who is being paid or whose job it is to push an agenda is unlikely to provide an unbiased view.

RampantIvy · 24/08/2022 18:25

The thing is with viruses is that they mutate, which is why people who are entitled to a flu vaccine are invited to have one every winter. I have the same view about the covid vaccine as it has been widely reported about how many different strains there have been so far.

There needs to be more research about people who have managed to avoid covid. I know it is ongoing, but there hasn't been a lot of media coverage.

sorrynotathome · 24/08/2022 18:30

Had three vaccines and I’ll have the next booster when offered, as I’m in my late 50s. I haven’t had covid. I’ve never had flu either but don’t plan to have a flu vaccine any time soon. No real logic in this but then people often act in entirely illogical ways and I’m only human.

I read something about people with O neg blood being less likely to catch Covid. Seems unlikely but I’m O neg and haven’t had it. I agree more research would be useful but quite difficult to do, I think.

RampantIvy · 24/08/2022 18:40

That's interesting. I am O negative. DH is A positive though, and he has avoided it so far as well.

RandomUsername22 · 24/08/2022 18:41

Have NC’d for this purely due to the barrage of abuse I have had previously for expressing opinions on this. I have a professional and academic background in microbiology, and have chosen not to have any of the Covid vaccines. I live with two people who have very dodgy immune systems, one a teacher and one a carer, both of whom worked on the so-called “front line” (hate that term!) all the way through the worst peaks of Covid, before vaccines were even a thing. To my knowledge, I’ve never had anything resembling Covid for the last however many years this has been going on, and nor have those I’m living with.

I do, however, have a lot of friends and family who have been extremely poorly after their vaccines, and many who are just not right to this day - from heavy, non-stop periods to constant migraines (where there is no history of the condition), heart problems, breathlessness…and all in perfectly normal, healthy people. I’m sure that the vaccines work wonderfully for some people, but we need to start being honest about the horrific side effects that some people have, and stop calling people stupid “anti-vaxxers” if they make the best decision for their health and their body.

LakieLady · 24/08/2022 18:41

I'll be having the autumn booster. I had no after-effects from the first three (all Pfizer), so feel quite blase about it. And I really don't want Covid again. I still have an impaired sense of taste and smell from when I had it in March 2020, I don't want it to get any worse.

I also don't want to risk giving it to anyone else, not least my 84 year old MIL. My manager has just had Covid, she was really unwell and she's never ill, but she was too ill even to WFH, she barely got out of bed for 10 days. She blames herself, as she didn't have the booster last winter.

I won't have a flu jab though, I only get flu every 10-12 years and when I had flu shots for 2 consecutive years in the early 90s, I felt like I was on the brink of coming down with flu all through both winters.

NecklessMumster · 24/08/2022 18:51

I've been offered the autumn booster as a front line worker and have booked it in for Sept, along with flu jab.

stopitstopitnow · 24/08/2022 18:52

I've had 3. I'm over 50 but won't be having the booster. I've not caught covid yet but I'm prepared to take my chances. I am having the flu jab which I do every year.

mumda · 24/08/2022 18:52

I wouldn't.

Dr John on YouTube isn't either.

daisy46 · 24/08/2022 18:53

Never again.

YoshimisMum · 24/08/2022 19:08

I’m struggling to find the information required before I book the 2nd booster.
So far I have had the x 2 Pfizer and x 1 Pfizer booster. Age 50+ so eligible for another booster. No problems beyond the normal arm ache and slight temperature.
However, does the 2nd booster stop infection/transmission for a limited amount of time (2-3 months?) and for what % of people having the booster? Whilst the inherent T cells immunity remains constant (preventing severe disease) from the previous 2 plus booster? If so, does this indicate the 2nd booster has a limited time span for infection/transmission but protection against severe disease would hold without the booster? If anyone can point me in the right direction for this data I would really appreciate that as I cannot find anywhere.

Nekomata · 24/08/2022 19:20

I am usually pro-vaccination, but I am also questioning whether to get my 4th jab or not.

I think the side effects are too great. I was quite ill after my 3rd shot and needed a couple of days off work to recover from the fever and other symptoms.

I'm not convinced by the efficacy of the current vaccines. I think studies are showing that the vaccines are less effective against the new strains and that the effectiveness drops off rapidly even a few weeks after vaccination.

I would like to see how the new vaccines, which are supposed to be more effective against new strains, works out.

My kids and I had covid recently and we all got it the same despite being in different stages of vaccination.
