To ask for your thoughts on having more covid vaccinatinns

Mountainatmygates · 24/08/2022 16:30

I have had covid twice now and had 2 moderna vax in the first round. I was super ill after my 2nd vaccination and didn’t have a booster as a result. I had covid in March 2020 and was really rough & then again in June 22 and was rough but only for a few days.

I don’t really want any more jabs to be honest- I feel like having had it twice plus being double vaxxed is enough but not sure and I wondered what the general view out there now was?

If you’re 49 and don’t have underlying health conditions, aren’t a carer, frontline nhs or social care worker, aren’t pregnant or don’t live with someone immunosuppressed then you’re not eligible for the autumn booster anyway.

ThanksAntsThants · 24/08/2022 17:13

I probably won’t have anymore.

Iheartmysmart · 24/08/2022 17:14

After being horribly unwell after both my initial vaccinations and absolutely floored by my Moderna booster I shan’t be having any more.

Missillusioned · 24/08/2022 17:16

I'm not having it. The 3 jabs I had so far all wiped me out for days. I'll take my chances with the virus.

I will have the flu jab my employer offers every year, those don't usually make me ill.

OfficiallyBroken · 24/08/2022 17:17

I'm pro vax, but ended up in A&E on doctors advice after my 3rd covid jab because I developed one of the rarer side effects - severe abdominal pain, worse than any I've ever experienced (says she who's had two children and biliary colic resulting in emergency removal of gallbladder). Had to have IV pain killers and was admitted for observation for 48 hours. So on reflection, I'll be taking my chances with Covid much like I do the Flu every year and hoping for the best.

However, the rest of my family are sticking with whatever vaccines are recommended for them. I do think I was unlucky, but I also think I'd be bloody stupid to do that to my body again.

I hadn't realised this. That's a bit disappointing.

Freedomfighters · 24/08/2022 17:18

I've had three so far, but I won't be having it again.

balalake · 24/08/2022 17:18

Happy to have a booster jab, especially if it is more effective against the Omicron variant.

Vicliz24 · 24/08/2022 17:21

I'm not having any more . I had massive heart palpitations after my third one that scared me to death . Also have had other issues post booster too . I've struggled with lots of the symptoms of long covid and am still permanently exhausted.

Invisimamma · 24/08/2022 17:21

I'm having more because I have holidays booked and the countries I'm visiting require it 🤷.

Mossstitch · 24/08/2022 17:22

@ancientgran don't give up hope, I got it March 2020 from a patient, wasn't particularly ill with it initially (as in didn't stay in bed or need hospital treatment) but symptoms just dragged on! And on!! I'm over 60,semi retired just do bank shifts, couldn't work for a year. Pushed myself to go back but still loads of symptoms and short of breath, raised heart rate, autoimmune symptoms. Two full years before I finally feel 99% back to normal👍
As for the vaccinations, I personally won't be having anymore, quite ill after the first and I don't react well to them (had 2) my two sons who are also nhs were more ill with the vax than with covid, they have just had covid again, both said milder than the first time and despite being in close proximity to both and in contact with covid positive patients I haven't had it again...... Yet.🤞I reckon that as I've survived it without any vax then I'm likely to survive it again if/when I get it.
Plus the fact that the latest one isn't even the same strain that we are getting, it's for original and omicron variation 1, we are already on variations 4 & 5🤷

Mountainatmygates · 24/08/2022 17:24

@Vicliz24 yea I had heart palps and chest pains too after moderna 2 - really frightened me too!

PrescriptionOnlyMedicine · 24/08/2022 17:24

I’ve had 5, as I’m immune compromised. I’ll keep having them. I’ve been mildly under the weather (apart from one where I felt really poorly) post vaccine.

I might feel differently if I wasn’t on immune suppressants or had reacted badly after the jabs.

Festoonlights · 24/08/2022 17:25

I am not having anymore vaccines

Twizbe · 24/08/2022 17:26

As long as the jabs are free and potentially needed to travel I'll have them.

If they start charging I won't have them quite so often.

That said, I didn't have a flu jab this year and caught flu ... it wasn't pleasant

Wouldloveanother · 24/08/2022 17:26

I feel the same. Was thrilled to get the first 2 doses, reluctantly got the booster, and now another one? I had covid 3 months ago. Why do we need all these injections?

wizbit93 · 24/08/2022 17:26

I won't be having any more. I had a seizure following my Moderna booster, and two months give or take of palpitations and missed beats. I really can't afford to risk another seizure and lose my licence for another year.

5zeds · 24/08/2022 17:30

I’ll be having mine. Vaccination is a fantastic thing.

Mummadeze · 24/08/2022 17:30

I have had covid twice. Second time I had barely any symptoms. I have had two vaccines and am not inclined to get another one. If another strain really makes cases rise and there is a lot of pro vaccine advice as a result, I might reconsider.

butterflied · 24/08/2022 17:30

Parky04 · 24/08/2022 16:51

I've had my booster, but won't be having anymore.

This is me too. I had bad side effects with all three vaccines and months of covid. I can't think about anymore jabs right now.

Surtsey · 24/08/2022 17:33

I have the flu jab every year, so I guess I'll have the covid one every year now, too.

No biggie.

(flu vaccine sometimes make me feel pretty rough afterwards anyway)

CoreyTaylorsbiggestfan · 24/08/2022 17:35

If it's phizer I might consider, if it's the Moderna then no!
The side effects from Moderna alone is a no from me! Everyone I know has had bad side effects and the poor people in the care home were poorly with it.

Sarahcoggles · 24/08/2022 17:36

I'll have the booster because I'm a GP and I have to really. And I want to be sure I can go on holiday. And I want to protect my Mum.
But if I didn't work in healthcare, didn't want to go abroad, and didn't have an elderly Mum, then I wouldn't want another booster.
I've had Covid and I was fine, and I'm sick of having huge doses of vaccine every few months. It feels inherently wrong to be stimulating my immune system artificially in this way. Probably illogical but I can't help feeling that way. I don't believe any conspiracy rubbish though.

Lemonsyellow · 24/08/2022 17:37

I’ll have everything I’m offered.
