CF Have come to stay - The morning after

The first thread is full so I'll start a new one, in case there is a dramatic update in the morning.

I actually feel emotionally drained right now. I keep almost crying. Pathetic. Probably the wine thats doing that.

I'll be going to bed shortly and i'll update tomorrow if theres anything to add. I reckon they will be up early and go quietly though.

They don't drive a ford ranger (I remember that thread! haven't looked at a ford ranger driver the same since!) Its a bmw something or other.

Dp cleared up the kitchen and 1 dc (dd19) came down and helped, so thats all good. She then came out, gave me a little hug and said DP had explained about the food. She then lit up and offered me a cigarette (WTF! I don't smoke and although had an inkling wasn't sure she did) and said no ones perfect, everyone has failings. Honestly i'm in a parallel universe tonight.

Dp has put most of the beers away in the garage, just left in the fridge what was there. I do wonder if they will take them home.

I have been loving this thread and the last one OP.

Troll hunters can get lost. So what if it was well written?? It is perfectly plausible that OP is a good writer and has also experienced this CF-ery.

I think it's one of those things - I next expect people to bring a bottle or something, but I always take one. So you should never expect it as the host but also never turn up empty handed as the guest.

I’ve been waiting for a morning update. Was just thinking fgs it’s practically lunchtime when I looked at the clock. My sense of morning is skewed thanks to having under 4s at home.

But seriously OP, please do let us know how it goes when you all wake….

I think it was a bit cheeky to send them out to buy a list of specified food. I would have asked them to pick up "something for dinner"

But, they have had 4 nights food and accommodation for £100. That' £12.50 per person per night. So they did get a good deal

Maintain the moral high ground. Don't hide the croissants

@SeriouslyLosingTheWill You seem like a lovely person and an excellent host. Honestly, the guests you have had to endure are seriously deluded and entitled and are not people you ever need to see again. I'm not sure how old you are but all I can offer is that nearing 50 now I no longer put up with this sort of behaviour from any of my guests. I will cook a lovely meal and provide wine and drinks on the first night and then they are expected to contribute. I had some guests once who raved on about saving thousands on car hire, accommodation etc and when they left I realised it had cost me over £1000.00 just for the pleasure of their company! Oh, and me being a cook, cleaner and taxi driver as well. That was my Eureka moment! Hope you are feeling better today and the CFs have left!

Same here I used to be a bit of a pushover but once past 50 my tolerance for any kind of cheeky fuckery has disappeared!

OP be clear and tell them what utter freaks they have been when they leave!

The OP's last message is one of the nicest posts I've ever read on here. I think for all of us who really struggle with CFers, it's nice to see someone do something to resist!

As someone who lives in a popular tourist ares that hosts an exceedingly popular festival every year I can tell you I have been on the receiving end of all sorts of CFuckery over now 20 years. So I can well believe the OP and how people behave.

I have posted many 'highlights' in various forms on MN over the years but am still waiting for my ability to throw people out of the house to develop and show up. I'm 50 and in the grips of menopause so it must be coming along soon.

So this is relatives of DP's ex wife? No actual relation now ? They are free loaders

I can't believe the gall of them for their behaviour and for them to expect you to "pay them back" £103 for steak & snacks (for them) that they bought AND they expect not to replace beer and wine they'd drink but for you to pay for it!

If they say anything this morning I hope you are ready with a reply,,,

"We work and have 4 DCs and our own bills to pay. When you said you were visiting for a few days, we fully expected to host you the first night Not to pay for 5 days worth. We're not rich,

Most people would have offered to buy food and brought wine and beer with them to say Thankyou to us. They would have offered to help clear up.
I'm surprised you didn't get the hint when I eventually asked you to go to the shops. I had to ask you!!! Most people would have offered after the second day!! To leave the receipt out when we clearly spent far more than that on your food & our drink you helped yourself to all week.

We have been lovely to you . We are shocked and disappointed you see no rudeness in your behaviour. I can't imagine anyone else wanting you to stay if you freeload like this , eat them out of house and home and drink all their alcohol bringing nothing yourself!! Shock. "Wink
