Anyone else sick to death of the heat?

I know there have been numerous threads on this already but OMG, I cannot taking this sodding heat any more. I actually feel sick today because it's so oppressive and I can't get anything done around the house, which is like a furnace. Normally it's like this for a few days in the summer before cooling again, but it's been about six weeks of intense heat now in the south-east.

It's looking like tomorrow is the last of it thankfully - I sodding well hope so.

Anyone else completely fed-up?

It makes me happy too. It's nice! There was a lovely breeze last night. I reckon there must be something wrong with my internal thermostat because I'm not finding it in the least bit unpleasant.

I'm not sure sitting inside all day helps, especially not if your home gets really hot?

SushiShopSearch · 14/08/2022 17:43

it is debilitating isn't it. I used to live in Australia and this heatwave brought back to me exactly what it's like. People going out to exercise about 5am and then staying indoors when they could all day long. Leaving the house again, in the dark at6.30pm. Horrid.

Love it. Listening to Miles D with a cool glass of wine in my own garden
bliss

TroysMammy · 14/08/2022 17:44

I've done sod all today except eat breakfast and drink squash.

WildFlowerBees · 14/08/2022 17:45

Come winter I'll be organising air con for next year. It was hotter than Satans arsehole last year in parts too. I'm over it, Im tired, feel swollen everywhere and the poor wildlife are also suffering. It's enough now, why can't we just have a nice 22-24 degrees with a light breeze? It's feast or famine in the UK.

BunsyGirl · 14/08/2022 17:45

@AtwilightRebellion Rojales, Alicante. Prices have gone up quite a bit since they bought theirs about five years ago but looks like I could still get a two bed apartment with a shared pool. Anyway, doubt me all you want. Couldn’t give a shit.

ivykaty44 · 14/08/2022 17:45

You do realise some of us work outdoors and can't swan around in a wet sarong.

I hadn't realised you weren't able to work out that wet other types of clothing for the same affect

Friars23 · 14/08/2022 17:46

I live in the midlands. It’s only been unbearably hot these last five days and a few days in July. I hate winter so will take these few too hot days. Only managing this level of heat mind you with fans and constantly spraying myself with water.

Stealmysunshine503 · 14/08/2022 17:46

Yes, I'm sick of having to put everything straight in the wash because they're so sweaty, I get really bloated stomach and thighs too. Just don't enjoy being outside really in this weather

Devongurl · 14/08/2022 17:47

I can't say working in a care home which is very physical and very hot and still having to wear masks all day everyday is very fun.
I am lucky though that if I'm not working then I'm only half an hour away from a dip in the sea, very grateful for that.

LubaLuca · 14/08/2022 17:47

I love it too. I've been out on the lounger this afternoon with an ice lolly. I will be sad tomorrow that I probably won't be going out in the garden after work. Sunshine gives everyone carte blanche to forget boring housework etc and just sit and relax.

Lockheart · 14/08/2022 17:48

Some people might find it lovely but as someone from a farming community I can tell you it's disastrous and is only going to push food prices up further this winter.

Livpool · 14/08/2022 17:48

rumred · 14/08/2022 15:13

Nah I like it. Probably because I imagine there's a good 6 months of cold wet weather on its way.
I will enjoy this while it lasts

Same!

IrisVersicolor · 14/08/2022 17:49

Still loving it sorry. But I’m used to Italy so it’s not even that hot.

Also am well organised with cooling balms, fans, chilled water, ice cream.

Jourdain11 · 14/08/2022 17:50

But tomorrow it will rain? It's amazing how quickly grass and stuff becomes 'alive' again with a small bit of rainfall.

ivykaty44 · 14/08/2022 17:50

We have fans at work and at home but they're mostly just blowing the warm air around.

if you have hot air in the rooms with fans then there are ways of making it cool air as explained

Stealmysunshine503 · 14/08/2022 17:50

The care home I'm in today has been kind enough to say we don't have to wear the thick uniform, just a t-shirt!

speakingofart · 14/08/2022 17:51

Me. I’m sick and tired of it, detest the heat at the best of times.

Roll on thunder

onmywayamarillo · 14/08/2022 17:52

Dreaming of rain and normality.. it's just awful heat not even fun just OPPRESSIVE

TwoMonthsOff · 14/08/2022 17:53

I think it’s cooling down here (poole) slight breeze and clouded over thank goodness - best part of today was sainsburys air conditioned shop.

eyeroller1 · 14/08/2022 17:53

I was enjoying it but it’s getting too much now, my dog keeps lying on me which isn’t helping and I’m not functioning or getting much done.

I’ve seen so many dried up ponds w dead fish that really it’s just sad now, we need rain. Not that it’ll bring dead fish back 😕

thought I just felt a drop but think it was the dog dribbling.

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 14/08/2022 17:53

Yes!! Hate the heat..I'm tired because I'm not sleeping and it's too hot to go out and do anything. I feel like my insides are roasting. My new Dr Martens have strong and I'm dying to wear them :(

Devongurl · 14/08/2022 17:54

They've said we can wear a plain tshirt or vest top too but not sure it's ant cooler than scrub tops!

onmywayamarillo · 14/08/2022 17:54

The sunset last night looked a fire ball of red anger wasn't even nice to see

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 14/08/2022 17:54
