Forgive me mumsnet, for I have sinned...

Lighthearted!

My sin: I went to a Wetherspoons whilst on holiday in England. Not once, but twiceBlush The food was great and I have 3 children with very restricted tastes in food. I'm the same so the menu suited us all. I feel bad about going there knowing the mumsnet consensus on the guy who runs Wetherspoons but it met our needs. I am a Catholic and feel like I need to say a few Hail Marys as a result.

What are your mumsnet sins?

Aldi sell microwave rice at 35p - their ready made pasta sauce is lovely - cheap and quick

LoveLarry · 18/08/2022 16:17

I don't mind Wetherspoons for a cheap night out

I don't love the sound of children playing

I don't cook everything from scratch

Who was dissing Duolingo? What makes the issue - why is that a Mumsnet sin?

I didn’t know this thank you - will check it out

SavBbunny · 18/08/2022 18:17

@LoveLarry I think you are supposed to favour Rosetto Stone not Duolingo. Why would you unless a corporate is paying?
@Parker231 I buy the rice pouches as just enough with a small naan. I am an excellent rice cook, but stuff that. Just the two of us eat it in a household of 3.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 18/08/2022 18:26

I’ve just watered my grass 😳

BigSandyBalls2015 · 18/08/2022 18:27

No hose pipe ban here but I’m still being furtive … to be fair it is tiny!

WalkingOnTheCracks · 19/08/2022 11:10

I think my mum’s wonderful and I really enjoy her company.

I know, I know. I should be banned.

I am a recent convert to microwave rice, even though it’s really expensive and doesn’t taste as good but it’s so much easier for me and the kids to cook it for 2 mins and it’s ready.

I've been a convert of microwave rice for bloody ages.
I do and can cook quite well, but once I've done all that faffing around, making curry say from scratch I just cba to then try to cook rice properly. Plus it's another pot to wash and I dont have a dishwasher.
I'm all in favour of anything that makes life a bit easier. I would even happily eat microwave meals often if they weren't so expensive.

As for the covid threads, omfg I stayed well away. So many people so invested in others vaccinated status.
I'm all for having the vaccine if you want it and not forcing it on anyone. Once you start forcing healthcare on someone, informed consent goes right out of the window. Not a good idea especially for women.

Brilliant! 😂

I mow the lawn topless and if the neighbours try really hard they can see me.

I'm a landlord

Forgive me MN for I have sinned
Today I got caught short and actually had a sh1t in the woods and a loo brush was nowhere to be seen! Grin

In my defence, I was walking the dog at 5.00am (very dark) and I did use a dog poo bag to dispose of it properly.

Also, I do have 2 loo brushes - never used.
I can make a chicken last for 3 meals - just for me.
My dog sleeps on the bed.
I don't have DC's, here for fun.

My final confession is that it took me a while to realise what LTB means and first thought it was to 'look to buy' and then 'lick the balls' (thanks urban dictionary) before it twigged. Smile
Loving this thread.

And they're bringing the steak pudding back in September. Deep joy!

prettyteapotsplease · 20/08/2022 16:55

I wiped my spectacles on the corner of a pair of knickers which just happened to be handy because I'm a slovenly slattern and I'm not ashamed.

. . ."I drink bottles and bottles of wine, although at one point in the MN past that was de riguer rather than frowned upon...."

"I smoke weed.
A sin if ever there was one on Mumsnet."

So, the more dangerous drug - alcohol, is more than okay here on MN?

You should read your post again: the first poster is saying that drinking lots of wine is a MN sin although once upon a time it wasn't.

MN culture tends to the letter of the law: even on broadly societally accepted crimes like speeding on motorways, theft by finding, and not declaring all your income for tax, so it's not surprising that weed is a no-no, quite apart from its effect on men's quality as partners.

I was up early watering my garden this morning.

cassie2and2 · 21/08/2022 15:45

I never wear rubber gloves.
I own several lavatory brushes
Tell me do
How can I disappear the skid marks without one?

SmudgeButt · 22/08/2022 05:53

I cleaned a toilet for the first time in over 4 years. And I used a brush. And we don't have a cleaner. And while my OH claims to clean everything regularly I'm well aware he's carp at it

And yes the laundry has been on the line all night. But I'm intrigued by others obsession with spider willies. Do you think they are wanking on your Primark knickers? I'd be more concerned with what the female spiders are wiping on his majesty's 5XL mini briefs
