Forgive me mumsnet, for I have sinned...

Lighthearted!

My sin: I went to a Wetherspoons whilst on holiday in England. Not once, but twiceBlush The food was great and I have 3 children with very restricted tastes in food. I'm the same so the menu suited us all. I feel bad about going there knowing the mumsnet consensus on the guy who runs Wetherspoons but it met our needs. I am a Catholic and feel like I need to say a few Hail Marys as a result.

What are your mumsnet sins?

I've never in my life eaten a "massive salad".

Funnily enough the massive salads in spoons are really nice.

Jellybubbamama0987 · 16/08/2022 11:06

For the first time on here I feel normal. Knowing that everyone is a little bit s**t in their lives and not perfect actually lol I’ve been feeling so uptight because I’m not the perfect mother/partner but seeing that you’re all a bit imperfect too is helpful. Thanks Mumsnet 👍

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 16/08/2022 11:18

I own a hot tub. Washing regularly darked on. Don’t shower before sex.

MrsRinaDecker · 16/08/2022 11:18

This morning’s sin.. I’m still sitting in bed, wearing pyjamas, eating cereal and scrolling on my phone (hangs head in shame and wanders off to mumsnet jail).

There's always one that takes it too far Grin

Also adding;

I have never gone 'nuclear' at anyone, including husband and MIL

I quite like the baylis and harding soaps...

Gingernan · 16/08/2022 16:07

I've occasionally used work as an excuse not to do anything at the weekend, when in fact I was just exhausted and wanted to spend quality time with my cat.

I'm pretty much vegetarian at home but when at my partner's ( won't say bf,we are both seniors) I eat a lot of fish and chips and Chinese buffets.

My DH has a phrase for this when we are asked to do something we don't want to do. He says we have a 'subsequent engagement'.

(Mind you, he only says it to me. Uusally he uses a work excuse or something else).

My late FIL used to say; 'I'm too old to do anything I don't want to'.

Either way life is definitely way too short to not jettison things in favour of spending time with one's cat. Absolutely.

I forgot about the bizarre Mumsnet hatred of Bayliss & Harding! I quite like them, had a couple of gift sets given to me over the years. Never once did I think, "OMG what a shit and thoughtless present"!

("Shit and thoughtless" is a direct quote from a thread I saw on this btw Grin)

I've got Dado Rails and Picture Rails in the hall , they were painted when we bought the house we stripped and stained them.

Our house is 1930s , they are an original decoration ( old NDN concurred )
The rails have never tried to prise themselves off the wall and throw themselves into a Time Machine

For the jackpot is the hot tub a sex pond? 😂

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 16/08/2022 19:37

@LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL it most certainly is not!! 😂😂 I have teenagers in the house lol.

Although I did warn my 18 year old and his girlfriend not to turn my lovely new tub into a fetid sex pond the first time they used it alone 😂

I don't know if anyone else on the thread has admitted this one yet (haven't read it all) but I didn't take up the offer of a Covid vaccine. The coronavirus board last year deemed that a super sin. They've calmed down over there now thankfully. I was very careful in every other way re Covid, and avoided the earlier strains and didn't infect anyone else either. Finally caught Covid last month and was absolutely fine (easy mild case) so feel somewhat absolved of guilt now.

Not vaccinated here either (and I remember you from the Covid boards. Anyone unvaccinated there was the literal devil). I also had Covid recently and very mild too. The fact I had it mild actually pissed off some of my real life vehemently pro-vaccine friends.

I have Covid at the moment and am feeling pretty grim.

I'm triple vaxxed! 😒

CircleMessage · 16/08/2022 20:39

@XenoBitch nope, I put it there myself! Well - told DH to! 🤣🤣

BarbaraofSeville · 16/08/2022 20:41

I like Hotel Chocolat, which is another brand that MN describes as 'overpriced rubbish'.

YukoandHiro · 16/08/2022 20:44

I let my kids watch tv before school, and sometimes I even let them eat dinner in front of it (although tbf much less often)

WanderingFruitWonderer · 16/08/2022 20:46

I remember you from the Covid boards too @XenoBitch - I think you defended me at least once! We were a small band of despised untouchables - comrades! Gosh they were dark days on there back then weren't they? So glad those days are over. I'm so glad to hear you also had a mild case 😊

@PoxyAndIKnowIt I'm sorry you're feeling unwell. You take care and get well soon. I'm not an anti-vaxxer at all, and think it was right for many (personal choice) It's such a weird and unpredictable virus, in terms of who it affects, and how.
How lovely to have a non-judgemental thread. I guess we're all sinners here, one way or another!

rcd · 16/08/2022 21:00

That is very sad.

bellac11 · 16/08/2022 21:02

This is a long thread

I never put the lid down on the loo when I flush it
I dont hate men
I think people should correct people's spelling and grammar on forums
I eat too many processed foods
We dont always recycle properly because its a too much faff
I never use abbreviations to say mum, dad, son etc apart from OH for 'other half'.
