Forgive me mumsnet, for I have sinned...

Lighthearted!

My sin: I went to a Wetherspoons whilst on holiday in England. Not once, but twiceBlush The food was great and I have 3 children with very restricted tastes in food. I'm the same so the menu suited us all. I feel bad about going there knowing the mumsnet consensus on the guy who runs Wetherspoons but it met our needs. I am a Catholic and feel like I need to say a few Hail Marys as a result.

What are your mumsnet sins?

Have to ask- How do you know this?

Proseccoagain · 15/08/2022 23:29

I have vertical blinds - so have all my neighbours.

simiisme · 15/08/2022 23:38

Bloody loved this thread!
Such a relief to know that not everyone is perfect on here.

Mamanyt · 15/08/2022 23:41

I think I have you all beat...I'M AMERICAN!!!

MooseBreath · 15/08/2022 23:53

I have a toilet brush.
My toddler watches a fair bit of television.
My sheets don't get washed every two weeks.
I don't even own an iron.
My toddler had eaten (and thoroughly enjoyed) McDonald's.
My son has a "surname"-type first name
I put my baby in his own room far earlier than 6 months.
I am a SAHM.

Yes ???

BrightYellowDaffodil · 13/08/2022 22:43

I cooked a chicken and it didn't last me an entire week.

Please forgive me.

It would have to be FogHorn Leghorn to last a week in my house 😆

StarlightLady · 16/08/2022 00:30

You can tell the newbies from the old school on this thread 😂.

l can resolve a parking problem without a diagram.

NazMedusa · 16/08/2022 04:18

We don't allow outside shoes to be worn in our home. I'm sorry but if you don't like it, you can step back out on the filthy pavements. Having said that, no one has ever had an issue and everyone always comments on how clean and comfortable our home feels.

WanderingFruitWonderer · 16/08/2022 04:45

I don't know if anyone else on the thread has admitted this one yet (haven't read it all) but I didn't take up the offer of a Covid vaccine. The coronavirus board last year deemed that a super sin. They've calmed down over there now thankfully. I was very careful in every other way re Covid, and avoided the earlier strains and didn't infect anyone else either. Finally caught Covid last month and was absolutely fine (easy mild case) so feel somewhat absolved of guilt now.

Sux2buthen · 16/08/2022 06:44

I wanted to know the sex of all of my kids beforehand.
I had private gender scans, they were called gender scans by the companies and I never correct women on here for saying that, it's equivalent to pissing on excitement and needs to bore off
I don't feel the need to slag off gender reveals and think if something makes someone happy it's a good thing
When I found out their sexes I bought some items in the stereotypical colours because I wanted to.

StarlightLady · 16/08/2022 06:53

I loathe the appearance of dungarees. I will never own a pair.

SavBbunny · 16/08/2022 06:57

Forgot this one.
Both my kids grew up on Hovis white thick sliced!

Dorosomethingbeautiful · 16/08/2022 07:07

@Lalliella I am confused too. Why is using a toilet brush considered a sin on Mumsnet?

LornaaMb · 16/08/2022 07:56

I’m not a mum and don’t get toilet brush rejection.

PopcornAndWine · 16/08/2022 07:59

@Sux2buthen oh yes forgot that one! I found out DD was a girl beforehand and it didn't "ruin the lovely magical surprise".

Although I have to say I've encountered some really bizarre attitudes to this in real life too, it's not just Mumsnet...

StarlightLady · 16/08/2022 08:15

I’ve been in summer dresses and haven’t worn knickers for over a week. And I’m likely to go on sinning for a while yet. It’s a case of whether cooler weather or a period comes first.

We're in our 30s and own a Honda Jazz.

I find runners egotistical and annoying.

I rarely hang clothes up. Love a clothes pile.

I’m prepared to forgive all of them as long as you promise faithfully to call it a Honda Jizz from now on.

SavBbunny · 16/08/2022 08:22

@BitOutOfPractice
Jizz, saucy.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/08/2022 08:29

@SavBbunny in a totally not-acceptable-for-MN way I would snigger every time I said it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/08/2022 08:35

I've got silicone loo brushes (Lakeland) I didn't go fo the much trendier but mucher more expensive Josephh&Joseph one though . (cos I had to buy 2)
They work well, you give them a swirl in the loo water to clean.
No need to replace yet , no loo blocking paper cleaning thingies .

XenoBitch · 13/08/2022 22:37

I like the food in Spoons, but the plates are vile.

My sin is that I wash my bedding a lot less frequently than every 2 weeks. I let my dog in my bed too.

That’s good for the environment though!

MrsMitford3 · 16/08/2022 09:20

I loathe cyclists.

My lovely town is a sweaty, grunting lycra soup at weekends.

I wish them all a slow puncture...

Everyflippingusernameistaken · 16/08/2022 10:22

"Putting this warning out for all mums who have wee babies and use the big bow headbands on them.

"My friend has sadly just lost her 14-week-old daughter whilst she thought she was sleeping in her carry cot after a long walk.

"When she came to check on her she had the bow headband down over her wee nose and mouth and wasn't moving. She had passed away.

"A post mortem revealed death due to suffocation asphyxiation. She wanted me to share for other new mums the danger some of these baby fashion accessories can have."

This one is new to me

There was a house shaming thread a couple of years ago. Apparently vertical blinds are a big no no and my house probably looks like a Drs surgery ffs 🙄
