Forgive me mumsnet, for I have sinned...

Lighthearted!

My sin: I went to a Wetherspoons whilst on holiday in England. Not once, but twiceBlush The food was great and I have 3 children with very restricted tastes in food. I'm the same so the menu suited us all. I feel bad about going there knowing the mumsnet consensus on the guy who runs Wetherspoons but it met our needs. I am a Catholic and feel like I need to say a few Hail Marys as a result.

What are your mumsnet sins?

I used a toilet brush today

I use one whenever I <ahem> need to. How else are you supposed to get rid of Klingons?

(Genuine question)

ohsmeg · 15/08/2022 19:15

All our clothes are from Primark.

I don't care how much telly or phone time the kids have.

I bribe everybody with McDonalds.

And I'm the rude mum in the playground who ignores you and won't smile. Don't worry, it's everyone, not just you.

Laurakiaora · 15/08/2022 19:17

Oh God. I love this thread

Please maintain it forever.

CountryMouse22 · 15/08/2022 19:18

I don't have children! Only on Mumsnet for entertainment and enlightenment. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/08/2022 19:21

I buy things from Lush
And I like the song "Blurred Lines"

No fucks given.

Yourcatisnotsorry · 15/08/2022 18:45

My washing is going to get darked and spider willied on tonight. I did have a massive salad for lunch does that cancel it out?

What does darked and spider willied mean?

Viviennemary · 15/08/2022 19:22

I was the only person in the country who voted Tory. Don't know how they got in.

ItsJustLittleOldMe · 15/08/2022 19:24

Thank you original poster for this thread. This has made me BEYOND happy!
I however am perfect and haven’t broken a single MN rule except…. URM ALL OF THEM LOL 😂

Grapewrath · 15/08/2022 19:26

When I’m at theme parks or other similar places we eat chips and slushes and not ‘to die for’ picnics

Imobsessedwithsuccesion · 15/08/2022 19:28

I'm childfree by choice
I live in a lovely, tidy house and iron rather than looking crumpled
I drink a lot of prosecco
I enjoy McDonald's
I fucking hate both going a walk and eating a massive salad and would rather watch reality TV with a drink

AmberMcAmber · 15/08/2022 19:32

I mix whites, darks & colours in the laundry & down even own an iron/ironing board

if my shirt wearing DP needs an ironed shirt that badly he can either use our travel steamer or buy (and use) the iron himself

Justrestingmyeyes1 · 15/08/2022 19:42

So very many MN sins here:-
I smoke
I drink regularly
I rarely cook from scratch and never batch cook
i don’t always holiday in the UK and don’t feel guilty about flying
I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon than go camping
My washing is sometimes left on the line for a couple of days because I can’t be bothered to bring it in
I don’t feel abused if my husband and disappears to the pub and comes home singing and falling over in the middle of the night
If my husband asks me to do something for him, I invariably will, without expecting anything in return
I love my in-laws
I’m not outraged if people come round without pre-arranging
My dogs bark at everything, lie on the sofas and sleep in our bed. And we bought them from a breeder.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 15/08/2022 19:44

Gosh I am on a roll.
I promised my middle DD that she would never have to do another sports day after Year 2, when both teachers and kids were mean to her in front of everyone. And I stuck to it.

AugmentedToast · 15/08/2022 19:49

I’m a member of the Conservative Party.

Namingchangeschangingnames · 15/08/2022 19:52

I really need to know, what’s wrong with a toilet brush? How else are you meant to clean the bowl from having limescale

mumwon · 15/08/2022 19:57

I value comfort in clothes over appearance - I have several comfortable cord leggings - one of the joys of being older is can do this.
My son in law and I have have a great relationship - we both like science fiction films
I even like my adult dc and my husband (well he is cooking dinner again - I do cook sometimes)
and we eat oven chips and fish occasionally (that counts as me cooking!)

LuciferKitty · 15/08/2022 19:57

I let my baby watch tv

LovelyIssues · 15/08/2022 19:58

I like my MIL.
I have no problem with my neighbours smoking weed.
I don't mind Wetherspoons

MrsMitford3 · 15/08/2022 20:01

XenoBitch · 13/08/2022 22:37

I like the food in Spoons, but the plates are vile.

My sin is that I wash my bedding a lot less frequently than every 2 weeks. I let my dog in my bed too.

Oh I like the plates. We had 2 Spoons in my town-ShitSpoons and PoshSpoons but sadly Shitspoons has closed and is going to be flats. Where will the DC go after A level results?

My dog sleeps in my bed too-often kicks DH for more space. I find that hilarious and she also licks the plates. Increasingly I prefer dogs to people 😂

WalkingOnTheCracks · 15/08/2022 20:02

I’ve always let my kids wear whatever they like.

I have never instigated or taken part in a long family walk.

I feel no need to be informed in advance if someone’s coming to the house.

There are all sorts of things I don’t like much, but I don’t think that people who do like them are wrong.

i’m quite picky about grammar and spelling.

I can happily tolerate the occasional loud all-night party in nearby houses.

MrsMitford3 · 15/08/2022 20:05

You can all wear your shoes in my house

VK456 · 15/08/2022 20:10

My hidey holes are jammed with carrier bags full of stuff I’ve shoved in them off worktops, tables, in fact any flat surface from when I tidied up for visitors.
I’m going to go Indiana Jones on it all one day…

whynotwhatknot · 15/08/2022 20:11

oh i forgot i hate walks shirt ones long ones theyre boring i get frustrated i dont mind driving whereever

Xtraincome · 15/08/2022 20:12

My sin list:

  • both DDs (4 & 7) have been starkers around the house all day
  • I just put the tumble dryer on
  • my DDs are eating thick white bread with butter on it, 20 minutes before bed
  • I do not earn 150k plus bonuses
  • My DH also does not earn 150k plus bonuses
  • we have very little spare money and we are happy not meal planning and making a roast chicken last a week.
OceanbreezeSun · 15/08/2022 20:14

I had a very successful career, but decided not to go back to work after mat leave ended as I wanted to be a sahm. I really enjoy it and love being with my dd but by mn standards, it’s the worse thing I could do and I must be soooo bored.

I actually really like a massive salad 😳

I re-use towels several times and wash then once a week - none of us have ever had scabies

I do my bit for the environment and think it’s important, but I will never use re-usable sanitary items or nappies (although I did try reusable nappies with dd - they were awful) Mooncups make me feel queasy.

I like a good wedding, hen do and, wait for it….a baby shower. I’ve never had a balloon arch but I think they look fun. Might have one in the future, who knows! 😉
