Forgive me mumsnet, for I have sinned...

Lighthearted!

My sin: I went to a Wetherspoons whilst on holiday in England. Not once, but twiceBlush The food was great and I have 3 children with very restricted tastes in food. I'm the same so the menu suited us all. I feel bad about going there knowing the mumsnet consensus on the guy who runs Wetherspoons but it met our needs. I am a Catholic and feel like I need to say a few Hail Marys as a result.

What are your mumsnet sins?

What a great thread!! I’ve had a read through and realised I’m a terrible sinner!! Where should I start?!
• I was a teen mum and now have 4 of the monsters spanning 3 different decades.
• I’ve always worked full time and my kids have never been taken care of by any grandparents
• I co-slept with all of them
• I now co-sleep with a dog and 3 cats
• I never leave my clothes out to be darked on but I do use the dryer, even in summer
• I shower twice a day
• The teen and preteen make their own teas
• I don’t limit what they eat when nor do I really monitor what they watch or when
• I have a grey living room….and stairs
• I liked Jeremy Corbyn
• I hate all the 50 Shades (despite previous sin)
My goodness, I could go on. I better stop before I seal my gate in Mumsnet hell!!!

SavBbunny · 15/08/2022 20:22

Such a funny thread. However,

Bless me father for I have sinned.

I have just recently started buying rice pouches.
I have bought Iceland chicken breasts by the 5kg for big parties.
I married my husband to shag him everyday even if I initially don't fancy it. My bits have other ideas.
I earn much more than him and he doesn't know exactly how much or care.
I am very fat.
I don't drink anymore and admit it's boring.
I am proud I went to Oxford (from a council estate). I am also disappointed my son turned it down.
I would love a personal number plate.

Troublewithtribbles · 15/08/2022 20:25

Didn’t know what TOAST was.

Wear clothes TOO young for my age - and- I don’t care.

Darkened washing in hot weather makes sense - and - I hate spiders - but - not enough to always bring in washing. Frankly life is too short.

Not only do I not wash towels after a day, but washing bed sheets (horror) is somewhat random too. Plus dusting (hate it).

Loo brushes (multiple) - check
Tumble dryer - use - check
Penis beaker - don’t have
Haven’t returned the cheque
Do RTF threads (mostly)
Don’t have an elderly Korean woman in my garden, but have danced to PSY
Haven’t LTB

Moltenpink · 15/08/2022 20:31

My neighbours told me my tree was blocking their light, so I had it cut down.

Seymour5 · 15/08/2022 20:46

I love my daughter in law
My washing is in the line as I write
I’m pedantic about spelling
I have voted Conservative on occasion
And of course I have a loo brush (bleached regularly)

hollyivysaurus · 15/08/2022 20:48

I really don’t care that my husband plays computer games. I have no clue why it’s so hated on here!

I quite like our neighbours on our council estate. I also don’t get irate when a parcel is delivered to our house that isn’t collected by them within 0.83649 seconds.

I work as a teacher but am not feeling the need to martyr myself by working all summer.

I’m sure there are more…

Ohyeahbabe · 15/08/2022 20:49

I don’t remove my toilet seat and put it in the dishwasher for a clean.
I voted Brexit.
I had a poem suggesting guests gift us money for our honeymoon in our wedding invitation- I know I’m going straight to MN hell for this!!
I’ve “martyred” myself by breastfeeding both my children.
I’ve eaten in Spoons many times.
I use the parent/child parking bays.

And many, many others!!

BiscuitLover3678 · 15/08/2022 20:49

Not long ago I are a toastie filled with Mac n cheese! I didn’t die because of all the carbs. I didn’t even have a massive salad! In fact, I had no salad at all. I’m disgusting.

BiscuitLover3678 · 15/08/2022 20:51

Not only do I really enjoy baby showers but I don’t think it makes my friends grabby and I even did ONE FOR MYSELF

BiscuitLover3678 · 15/08/2022 20:52

Wear cardigans
Wear cargo shorts. Am over 25 and wearing shorts in general. I wear strappy tops with my shorts.

I also don’t think a man is automatically going to hate his wife and treat her like shit if she stays at home to look after the kids for a few years.

I have vertical blinds.

RavenhairedRachel · 15/08/2022 20:57

lollylimejuice · 15/08/2022 20:59

Three Hail Mary's and a Glory Be needed here! 😇

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 15/08/2022 21:02

@CountryMouse22 there was a funny thread some time ago about leaving washing out overnight. One poster commented that it would get 'darked on' and another that spiders would rub their willies on it :)

Zuma76 · 15/08/2022 21:02

Here are mine

  • my child goes to private school

  • she has almost unlimited time on her ipad and eats chocolate at least once a day of not more!

  • I wear crocs outside

  • i use clingfilm and tin foil

  • I got my dog from a breeder and it sleeps on the bed and I let it off lead in public places

  • I haven’t LTN even though he is a knob 60% of the time

  • I take my child to Mc D regularly

  • i love fizzy red laces and do not share them with said child ever, even if she sees me eating them.

This one is new to me

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 15/08/2022 21:06

The anti-toilet brush sentiment is bonkers, by the way. It was specifically designed for cleaning a toilet!!!

Do you reject hairbrushes because they get hairy? Or vacuum cleaners because they fill up with dirt?

Loving this thread :)

wentworthinmate · 15/08/2022 21:12

Studyafter40 · 13/08/2022 22:38

I'm a cleaner and I use several toilet brushes every day. Not sure how I'm supposed to do my job without them tbh.

Same here. About 20 toilets a day (only three times a week thankfully). Couldn’t do my job without using them (it’s a dementia care home) 😷

Solonge · 15/08/2022 21:13

With Wetherspoons its not just mumsnet being sniffy. I worked as a manager at a homeless hostel. Several of the community were taken on by Wetherspoons, given zero hours contracts then messed about, some weeks getting two hours work. It meant they lost their benefits and it took weeks to reinstate them. The pay was poor and the treatment of staff was worse. I use Wetherspoons, but only if I am caught short, I will happily use their toilets. As for Tim Martin and his Brexit support, his son has taken over the business apparently, said his father was a fool led astray and has lost the business millions.

Lindylindyloo · 15/08/2022 21:23

This has been soooo FUNNY

PeachesVonBeach · 15/08/2022 21:24
  • no penis beaker or sex towel
  • privately educated children and SAHM
  • will never attempt to get more than 2 meals from a chicken
  • no strong feelings about Jack Monroe
  • children with all the wanky hated MN baby names
  • Cant see the value in IKEA kitchens
  • live in Brighton and love it for its liberal grimy vibes
  • Toast & Boden?? No thanks.
  • use bleach and a loo brush
  • Refuse to have bum sex at Center Parcs.

You can all wear your shoes in my house

Mine too! And turn up unannounced.

We're in our 30s and own a Honda Jazz.

I find runners egotistical and annoying.

I rarely hang clothes up. Love a clothes pile.
