You do realise that if we weren't vaping, we'd be smoking cigarettes, right?

In light of this, why should vapes be banned?

Many e-cigarette liquids contain diacetyl, and breathing this in causes bronchiolitis obliterate, or ‘popcorn lung’ - permanent scarring of the bronchioles in the lungs, leading to shortness of breath, similar to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) - a serious disease.

Is all the diacetyl in vape liquids absorbed by the lungs of the user, or is some of it exhaled in the vapour, for other people to breath in?

Because its like walking behind a steam train.

A lot of people who vape have never smoked and probably never would.
Plus the flavours are blatantly aimed at children, which is awful

I vape. I used to smoke cigarettes, but quit in 2019 and haven't touched one since. No more hacking cough, yellow fingers/teeth and that horrible stale smoke I can smell off others if they've just been smoking. Not to mention saving a small fortune. I do intend to quit the vape also, but this was a better alternative to me then going cold Turkey, having a wobble and going straight back to smoking again (which I had done about 3 times in the past) nicotine patches/gum/mints didn't work

I don't agree with younger folk vaping. Taking up smoking was the most stupid thing I've ever done in my life. I thought it was always supposed to be a form of therapy to get people off cigarettes. So no, I don't condone people going straight to vaping at all

I also don't like the ones that bellow out big clouds of smoke, walking behind them and feeling like you've just come out of stars in your eyes. I try not to use my vape around crowed places. I treat it the same way as I would if I was smoking a cigarette

I find both utterly disgusting, especially the chavvy flavours that are clearly designed for kids.

Liquids containing diacetyl are not sold in the uk and it was these that were responsible for the so called " popcorn lung"... which was actually proven to be an allergic reaction to that ingredient which caused the lung damage
Liquids in the uk are actually made using pharmaceutical grade ingredients.

A I said earlier, not ones licensed for sale in the UK - Diactyl is not allowed. So by the way is THC (though not CBD), one of the other additives blamed for some of the reactions. I will repeat - VG, PG, colouring and nicotine are the only things in (legal) UK made e-cig liquid, and these are all pharmaceutical grade apart from some flavourings which are food grade.

Why are people so angry about people exhaling bubble gum flavoured water vapour? In the grand scheme of things it's not so bad & it will save lives!

I get the frustration with underage vapers but that like everything is down to people selling them, like energy drinks, cigarettes & alcohol - not down to the products themselves!

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than smoking so what's your point?

I’ve not read the whole thread but the majority of people I know who vape have never smoked! And so many young children think it’s cool!! I personally think it smells disgusting and I hate walking through it with my son. God knows what damage people are doing to their lungs 🤮

Vapers gonna vape. It won't be banned anytime soon, it is too good a NRT. It is far safer than cigarettes for the user. I am neither a smoker nor a vaper but I am glad to see that science and innovation have brought a great product to the market that will save the lives of many people who manage to stop smoking. Very few people stop smoking with nicotine patches and the like, it is the hand to mouth habit that is replaced with vapes and it works.

I see the NHS on its pregnancy page does NOT say that pregnant women should not vape. Far from it, they say that vaping is far safer for mother and baby than cigarettes. That's good enough for me.

E-cigarettes do not produce tar or carbon monoxide, the 2 main toxins in cigarette smoke. Carbon monoxide is particularly harmful to developing babies. The vapour from an e-cigarette does contain some of the potentially harmful chemicals found in cigarette smoke, but at much lower levels.
If using an e-cigarette helps you to stop smoking, it is much safer for you and your baby than continuing to smoke.

My ex spilt vape liquid on my dining table, it’s melted the varnish. Scary!

I get mad at vapers as they are blowing out a huge cloud of disgusting vapour that has been deep in their lungs, and they don't care when or where they do it.

I don't need or want second hand smoke and I certainly don't need or want second hand vape fumes either.
