I know I'm not alone.

From the moment I first saw him when Common People came out, and he was staring into my soul on Top of the Pops. His voice, his sass, his talent. Even today, I have fancied him since he appeared and still do.

Anyone else?

I quite liked the singing of Dreamland at Glastonbury, but was disappointed when OA arrived and worried he was going to be there for the rest of the set, so pleased when he left.
It's funny because Neil Tennant was beautiful back in the day, and I still think he's got a certain something at 68. On the Glastonbury thread somebody said they would like to go antiques shopping and for afternoon tea with him and I thought that was perfect. Grin

I had a physical reaction to that picture. the hairs on my arms stood up.

I just thought he had pretty eyes and good hair.

Swimminginmud · 13/08/2022 11:18

I had the biggest crush on him when I was in secondary school.
last year he bought 2 copies of my self published book (not about him!). I was so happy!

That is so cool! Well done. I'm curious about the book. How did he find it? I would be over the moon!!

Of course - what not to fancy?

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 13/08/2022 11:21

Oh my lord yes. I’m of a similar age, lived in Sheffield, our social circles at that time ran like venn diagrams-we went to similar places, (he told me he liked my skirt once) I worked with the sister of the woman whose window he fell out off and broke both his legs, went to his sisters wedding (groom’s side). My dh was similar in looks then, tall and skinny and is now, tall and ageing well.
My sister though dislikes him as when she worked at a very niche venue in the 90s he and Damien Hurst tried to crash a party. Did the “do you know who we are?” She said yes and you’re still not coming in.
But I would still.

Pinkybike · 13/08/2022 11:23

I have always thought he would be absolutely filthy in bed ( in a good way 🤣)
I love his voice, he is just so sexy when he talks!
I loved how he looked in the 90s but not a fan of beards so not so fanciable to me nowadays 😍

GlutenLover · 13/08/2022 11:24

God no! I don't find him attractive at all but each to their own.

I’m so put off by his name. I can’t explain it but I find it hideous.

I feel the same way but I often have a strong reaction to names.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/08/2022 11:41

If we're talking chiselled skinny 90s indie sorts it was this all the way for me

Who is that?

This is the thing, he is not my type, well I've never really had a type and my husband could not be further from JC in looks.

I go for charisma every time and some people just get me like that.

Loved his music. "Common People" is a classic. Never found him physically attractive

TemperTrap · 13/08/2022 11:48

For · 13/08/2022 10:28

Nope. Not noticed him since the 90s but then he struck me as self-absorbed, underweight, pale and into drugs.

Brad Pitt or DiCaprio in the 90s, now 😍

You seem to have identified by 90s/00s type perfectly. 😄

AuxArmesCitoyens · 13/08/2022 11:49

Jarvis, if you're reading this, you're on my list 😘

AuxArmesCitoyens · 13/08/2022 11:51

That said, Brett in the Animal Nitrate video is the sexiest fucking thing eveerrrrrrr

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/08/2022 11:51

He's mine! Hands off! Ok... can we share..? I used to have a lifesized poster on my landing of the man... I even had sex under it once, gazing up at him...

Brett Anderson swoon

I had that picture on my wall as a teenager 😘

Fireblanket · 13/08/2022 11:52

@NooNakedJacuzziness is that Brett Anderson? Suede?
I'm definitely pro Jarvis. Always had a thing for tall, skinny, angst-ridden men (Richard Ashcroft, anyone??). Funny how DP now is short and, well, well-padded, shall we say?

Of a similar ilk is Brian Molko who I also fancy.
Just stare at me through floppy black hair I guess and I'm yours.

myalternatename · 13/08/2022 12:02

Brian Molko is stunning, i joke he is my DH's boy crush and dh never argues, lol.

Brett Anderson was stunning then but not now.

Jarvis Cocker was good in some very well taken and flattering photos, but not in real life.

Pinkdelight3 · 13/08/2022 12:05

I think he has a very attractive personality and don't mind his looks in general, but he strikes me like he'd be a bit whiffy - hair always v skanky, needs a wash. That's not attractive.

OhThatChicken · 13/08/2022 12:07

Yes. I did in my formative years but even now with one of his tweed jackets with elbow patches and a twinkle in his eye I'd be tempted.

ticktickticktickBOOM · 13/08/2022 12:08

I still fancy him in the Babies video.

We're all grown up now though 😔

HarlanPepper · 13/08/2022 12:17

I absolutely used to back in the day! I loved his voice, his general air of loucheness, his cheekbones and elegant suits, and the dramatic shapes he threw on stage. But he's knocking on a bit for me personally these days. I think he's great though. Disco 2000 was on constant repeat in my bedroom in the 90s, and his 'Sunday Service' on 6 music was always interesting and fun, and introduced me to loads of music I hadn't heard before.

I finished his narration of his book of 'Good Pop, Bad Pop' recently and that was a treat. It's a sort of memoir based around objects in his attic that he has accrued over the years, that also serves as a sort of personal manifesto about art and creativity and all that good stuff.
