... to think you wouldn't touch Ryan Giggs with a bargepole?

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 08/08/2022 23:02

"Giggs found love again with lingerie model, Zara Charles, 33, who has 'supported' him through the charges."

I don't want to get into the legalities of the ongoing case, but what normal woman would knowingly get involved with the likes of him?

Absolutely vile man. I guess money talks for the women still interested in him 🤢

hangrylady · 09/08/2022 15:07

You only have to see on here the number of women who are with absolute dickheads who treat them badly and those men don't even have money or fame.

balalake · 09/08/2022 15:54

@MarshaMelrose fair point about no relationship of Mr Johnson with his brother's wife. As for coercive control, he has not been convicted nor charged with the offence.

I assume you're talking about Ryan Giggs. I never said he'd been convicted, I said he was charged. And I beg to differ about the coercive control.

From the BBC website..
Mr Giggs is charged with controlling and coercive behaviour against his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville, 36, between August 2017 and November 2020.
He is also charged with assaulting Ms Greville, causing her actual bodily harm, and common assault of her younger sister, Emma Greville, at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, on 1 November 2020.

Oblomov22 · 09/08/2022 16:36

He's in a 10 day court battle with ex.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/08/2022 16:45

I used to fancy him years ago long before the shagging sil stories. Then I saw him on a night out in Manchester. OMG what an arse!!! Killed it for me!

My friend once met most of the then United team at (I think) and airport or similar in South Africa. Can’t remember the exact circumstances of how she got chatting to them, together with her boyfriend. She said they were all lovely except Giggs who was an grumpy git.

People citing his Dad as an authority - I seem to remember that he has been said to have been pretty similar - hence the change of surname - so probably not worth quoting.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/08/2022 16:50

The approach that the defence lawyer is taking, I have to say, is the approach in about 90% of similar cases. Muddy the waters, say “they were both as bad as each other” and hope the jury will buy it.

Works quite often because of course juries haven’t heard it 100s of times before. Many would say this is the good thing about the system as each case is taken on it’s merits, and a judge sitting alone would be a bit more “oh come off it”, but it does mean DA conviction rates are much lower.

In my experience having worked in court system for many years.

For me, it raises an eyebrow because of the fact it’s such a common tactic. But perhaps that’s unfair and it’s better to have less cynical people deciding the cases?

CrossStitch87 · 09/08/2022 16:53

To quote the one and only Frasier Crane:

not if you skipped him to me across a pool of disinfectant!

Angrypandy · 09/08/2022 16:58

Because he's changed. Because he's just misunderstood. Because she can rescue him. Because he's made mistakes in the past but it's different with them. Because she likes the lifestyle and the money. Why does anyone get together with a bustard? Happens all the time.

Butchyrestingface · 09/08/2022 16:58

RestingMurderousFace · 08/08/2022 23:45

His new girlfriend lives near me, I see them walking the dog sometimes. Never seen either of them smile.

He's got a face on him like a well-skelpt arse going in all the footage outside the court. Hope he's enjoying his rotten, miserable self.

balalake · 09/08/2022 17:22

@MarshaMelrose I know a former neighbour of Mr Johnson in Islington. If I repeated what I was told I no doubtless that person would be threatened either with legal action or something physical.

NegroniNonna · 09/08/2022 17:23

I've seen him out and about with his latest girlfriend- he's pretty much head down but she has huge look-at-me-and-who-I'm-with energy - I've never seen anything like it! I've literally never seen anyone seek so much attention ever. It was fairy recently so after the court case was announced (if you needed that extra with his track record prior to that).

Cam22 · 09/08/2022 17:27

Even before these vile revelations surfaced from the out of his disgusting excesses and even if he were the last man on earth, I would not go near such a pig. He’s ugly and a thug. 🤮

Cam22 · 09/08/2022 17:28

… from the pit of his disgusting excesses

Sunnyqueen · 09/08/2022 17:32

YANBU but you got to realise there are types of men (and women) who are expert liars and manipulators. They specifically pray on vulnerable women who are maybe a bit naive and/or desperate for love for whatever reason make them believe the previous stories are all lies or whatever combined with intense love bombing. They always need a supply and do whatever they can to get it.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/08/2022 17:33

I’m wholly sure Johnson is just as bad, but I can’t see the relevance?

That's what my OP is about. She's as much of a disgrace as him.

@balalake Youre so obsessed with Boris that you need to drag him into everything but by doing that you lessen the impact when you actually do have a critical point to make.
You actually know nothing. If you knew, you hate him so much, you'd repeat it and there be nothing Boris could do about it because truth is the perfect defence to a charge of defamation. So all you have is tittle tattle. And are you really insinuating that he's going to come round and beat you up? Based on Darius Guppy phone calls, I presume. 🙄
Meanwhile you're making excuses for Giggs behaviour by saying he was a good player as if that makes his behaviour towards his wife and family ok.

You think his new girlfriend is as much a disgrace as him for going out with him? That’s the same level as coercive control and violence?

Dotjones · 09/08/2022 17:39

YANBU although regardless of the current legal case I don't understand why anyone, ever, would have "touched Ryan Giggs with a bargepole." Even in the 1990s he came across as a "unique" individual who stood out in a negative light even in the oddball world of professional footballers.

A bit like with Jimmy Savile, the first time I saw him on TV I was aware that there was something not right. I stress that I'm not suggesting Giggs has done anything comparable to Savile, it's just that he gives off a certain "vibe" that would make me want to avoid him at all costs and that when the allegations came out there was no surprise at them.

They are also as thick as mince. Hard to imagine just how unutterably dim they are. Not a cohesive thought passes through their brain on any given day.

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/08/2022 17:50

Ryan Giggs is an awful, awful person. Nobody, not even his own parents, has a good thing to say about him.☹️

JosephineMaynardd · 09/08/2022 17:51

Lots of my friends unfortunately. The internalised misogyny is scary. They always believe the man. The woman is always crazy, or he was provoked.

She's really not. Yes, her self esteem and dignity are in the gutter and she's quite clearly in it for the money and kudos but he's violent and abusive and a misogynist. There's really no comparison.
