just met up with a long time friend (lovely, but utterly away with the fairies) who honestly believes the earth is flat as well as a whole host of other similarly crazy things. It got me thinking what’s the most batshit thing you’ve ever known anyone to think?

@MajorCarolDanvers they "do their own research" hence understanding as much as they do. All of them are in full agreement that Trump win the election.

For me it's incredibly important, but then I am a woman.

I actually found it quite distasteful that a man could actually use the words "boring" about women talking about a very serious situation that adversely and immediately affects them and doesn't adversely or immediately affect him.

I think it's really important to be able to discuss this, I know the GC crowd are open to debate so it was nice to find a poster willing to talk to us.

Hmmm, a very dear friend came out with a couple of right crackers just after finding religion.

One was that there is a jewish liberal cabal quietly controlling the media. The other, pronounced very solemnly, was that oral sex - and swallowing there after- WILL make you pregnant. It was an interesting worrying weekend visit. The first I firmly refuted and think I talked her round from. The second I internally eye rolled at, asked "really?", nodded earnestly at the affirmative reply and just cracked on with giving DP a blow job when I got home. 2 years and quite a few blow jobs later, still no DC.

How many times have I heard / read that “it’s a complex issue”? I am disappointed that the new thread was so swiftly deleted because I would love to hear the argument supporting the notion that people can change sex, however complex.

I always wonder why, if it’s so complex, there’s been a sudden swathe of teenagers “identifying as trans” in recent years - are they better able to grasp the aforementioned complexity better than many adults? I’d like to hear your explanation for this, @Trying20

Tbf the Ukrainian army does genuinely have a neo Nazi battalion. They're not Satanists but they are openly neo Nazis. As in they are white supremacists who use Nazi insignia and self describe as Nazis.

There are a number of similar groups in central/eastern Europe in various countries including Russia so it's not only a Ukrainian phenomena and such people definitely do not constitute the entire Ukrainian army. However Ukraine is the only country (in the world) to have a group so openly affiliated on the state army payroll so that aspect is specifically Ukrainian.

So I'd say that's a twisted half truth rather than an outright fantasy, really.

I once had a conversation with a work colleague who told me, in all seriousness, that the Avril Lavigne we hear/see in the media now is not the same Avril Lavigne that shot to stardom with her first hit singles. They believe that she died but her management and record company, not wanting to lose a cash cow, employed a look-alike double to live as Avril and continue her career, which the 'replacement' as done successfully for 20 years now.

You know if people had just allowed the posts stating that they thought the belief that humans can change sex was batshit to go without comment then there would have been absolutely no further discussion. The fact that people told us to shut up or called them transphobic is what has derailed the thread.
