What’s the most batshit belief you’ve ever known someone to hold

just met up with a long time friend (lovely, but utterly away with the fairies) who honestly believes the earth is flat as well as a whole host of other similarly crazy things. It got me thinking what’s the most batshit thing you’ve ever known anyone to think?

My friend’s MIL declared dog saliva had healing properties and if you ever had a wound have a dog lick it 🤢

My DH believes that about dog saliva. Gross. he talks about when he had an infected toenail and essentially handed it over to the dog and the dog fixed it. Way before my time thank God.

Well, I’m in the US so where do I start? The belief that school shootings/deaths like at Sandy Hook never occurred. It’s a hoax.

For gods sake, not believing in something unsientific does not make you phobic. Atheists are not god-phobic, not believing that someone can change sex does not make someone transphobic.

Flat earthers are batshit but when questioned about why the moon was round, they (or some?) believe that the moon isn't real and it's just a projection done by NASA to make everyone believe that it's round Confused
What would be the actual point of this?? Just does not make sense

I know someone who believes the moon isn't real. It is a hollow, man made structure put there for what reason I don't know. The moon landings, space station, etc are all fake and it is all about controlling people. She is also a flat earth, Q anon, covid conspiracy believer.

She also tried to convince me that everyone had bank accounts with billions of pounds in them because the government sold our identities at birth. Donald Trump was going to save the world and we'd all receive the billions and never have to work again.

See, one of the things that gets me about the "moon is man-made" theory is: what about all those mentions, paintings, drawings, songs etc etc of the moon hundreds of years ago when it would have been impossible to build it, but it obviously existed?

That isn't as insane as you think it is. Birds are direct descendants of the dinosaurs. The chicken is the modern bird closest related to the T rex. Chickens have feathers. Baby chicks are very fluffy. Now we don't know if T rex itself had feathers, but it could have had feathers evolutionarily speaking. So it might have been somewhat fluffy. (Maybe as a baby T rex?). Weird idea huh, picturing the T rex as a dino-chicken. That's evolution for you.

I know an otherwise perfectly sensible down to earth person who believes in Reiki. She told me reiki would heal my prolapse and then I wouldn’t need surgery.

Like it or not the whole humans changing their sex is so mainstream right now I was in A&E having my finger xrayed yesterday and there were signs up saying anyone who was transexual or non binary please let the staff know as they had a legal obligation to make sure a women wasn't pregnant before they had an xray!
