The Guardian: A sex worker gave my autistic son the gift of confidence – and I organised the encounter

Look at the comments, everyone saying she’s a lovely and a good mother.

I’m so tired of this.
Sex works is real work, have OF, be kinky - or you’re a prude, porn porn and even more porn, poor innocent men - they have to have sex with a woman or else….

Hiw can anyone think this is progressive?

OP posts:
Franca123 · 31/07/2022 13:26

This is so grim. Is she titrated by it herself? Ewwwwwww. Progressive politics is not for me.

Franca123 · 31/07/2022 13:26

Titillated*

Topgub · 31/07/2022 13:27

The idea that sex work is a choice women gladly make is everything that is fucked up about choice feminism.

brighterthanaluckypenny · 31/07/2022 13:29

I think paying for your son to see a sex worker because no one else will sleep with him is encouraging worrying incel tendencies.

No one is owed sex.

I don't think paying for an autistic boy who sees the world in black and white to have sex is doing him any favours. It's just teaching him a clear rule that every woman has a price, whether that's by the hour, or showering her with expensive gifts.

Beelezebub · 31/07/2022 13:29

Well. There’s my daily reminder that the world’s getting steadily more and more fucked up.

Jesus wept.

secular39 · 31/07/2022 13:32

None is owed sex from a person- particularly a 17 year old?! Wouldn't this be classed as sexual abuse? Her child is still very young, how does she know that he may not meet someone in the future?

My only worry with the Autism is the generalisation and the impact of having less critical thinking. So if the child has the thinking - yes I can buy sex, he may do that to every single woman who he meets or fancies, thinking that all he has to do is pay someone for sex but doesn't realise that it is way much more complex than that. Instead of taking her 17 year old to a sex worker, why doesn't she use that energy and money to find an educational (sex ed) counsellor or whoever, to break down and teach her the son about the complexity of relationships, love, sex, consent, online dating etc.

needanewbed · 31/07/2022 13:35

Hopefully he will find a girlfriend one day and learn to enjoy sex in a loving relationship

That's from the article. And will he tell this girlfriend that he has been paying for sex? Most women are v much turned off by the idea a partner has paid for sex with prostitutes. So could it scupper the future relationship too?

beastlyslumber · 31/07/2022 13:36

That is really grim and revolting. Also probably scuppers his chances of ever getting an actual girlfriend.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 31/07/2022 13:36

A shame the husband’s opinions - the only member of the family worried that sex work is exploitative - seem to have been completely irrelevant and unimportant to this woman.

Maddogsandtoplessenglishmen · 31/07/2022 13:37

So she has successfully taught her son that his right to sex is absolute

She left a grown man (17, but in terms of height, weight strength etc pretty much the equivalent of a grown man) in a room with a woman for 4 hours knowing that he might not properly understand consent - but hey that's okay because she paid for it

So she taught him consent doesn't matter if you pay

She taught him to rape prostitutes

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 31/07/2022 13:38

The young man is 21 though, not 17?

Absolutely this. My son is autistic and shows no interest in sex as far as I am aware (he is 15) but I wouldn't teach him that this is ok and I wouldn't be so patronising as to assume he will never find a partner.

lollipoprainbow · 31/07/2022 13:39

She taught him to rape prostitutes*

Jesus Christ hardly

Yep that's exactly what this is

Penguinfeather781 · 31/07/2022 13:42

As the mother of an autistic son, my first thought was yuck. And my second was to wonder why she is quite so over invested in her teenage son’s sex life - organising a prostitute, dropping him off, getting a performance report afterwards?!!

FlissyPaps · 31/07/2022 13:43

Wow how fucking grim.

This “parent” has exploited both her son and the sex worker.

RainbowsMoonbeams · 31/07/2022 13:43

I’m sick of all the misogynistic BS being used to erode women’s rights further and further down in the name of ‘progression’.

sst1234 · 31/07/2022 13:44

Because it’s the guardian. And because the progressives are so progressive now, that they gone full circle. Anyone can be a woman. Sex work is apparently rewarding. And primary school children should subjected to grotesque inappropriate sexual material.

As the song goes - if you tolerate this, then your children will be next.

Topgub · 31/07/2022 13:44

Would she have paid a male sex worker to fuck her 17 yo autistic daughter?

Franca123 · 31/07/2022 13:51

She mentions that the prostitute is 'neuro-diverse'. Made me wonder if she had an autistic daughter, would she be happy for them to become a prostitute. Indeed, if its so noble, why isn't she sleeping with autistic young boys for money?

SaltFlakes · 31/07/2022 13:53

What's the big deal? People use SW services every day, and as long as the transaction is consensual, I don't see what the problem is. Its certainly not worthy of an article.

The only problem I can see is that at $1k for 4 hours she massively overpaid. And let's face it, for a first timer 4 hours is probably far too long anyway.

Please tell me you’re joking?

AmeliaEarhart · 31/07/2022 13:56

TBF, the author says her son was 21 when this took place, not 17*. The 17 yo was in the comments, from a man saying he was considering doing the same for his son. Thankfully someone replied to comment pointing out that being a virgin at 17 was not abnormal, and would they consider doing the same for a 17 yo daughter? (Depressingly followed with a “would a 17yo girl want that?”, because of course men want and need sex all the time and women don’t).

  • I don’t think it’s right at 21 either. Why on earth not let the poor lad go at his own pace?

I agree with @SaltFlakes not all if us are Pearl clutching over this. Some of the comments here are beyond awful.
