Wow. Just wow.

NamechangeApril21 · 16/10/2022 13:04

Anyone know what show this was on? Would quite like to watch it. George Clarke has loads and I can't seem to find it sifting through

MeanOldPotato · 16/10/2022 13:08

Looks depressing as fuck.
Gives me an overpriced burger served on a slate vibe. No thank you.

merryhouse · 16/10/2022 13:17

I'm intrigued by photo 43.

Why?

Nachobutt · 16/10/2022 13:17

Styled like that someone will buy it I'm sure. The words "fool" "money" and "soon parted" spring to mind.

I really don't get the love for Brighton. Very happy to spend the day there but a lot of it is dirty, run down and a real homeless problem. That mews is just off a street full of restaurants so I imagine rats and antisocial behaviour would be a real issue. Mad money !

Brighton is more than the seafront, pier and town centre. Some of the suburbs are beautiful and go straight onto the beautiful south downs

procrastinatingtree · 16/10/2022 14:03

Yes picture 43!!

NamechangeApril21 · 16/10/2022 14:04

Thank you!

TheDogsMother · 16/10/2022 14:11

@procrastinatingtree I agree about the South Downs as I'm very fortunate to live in the national park. Also agree that some parts of Hove and the Montpelier area are really lovely. But I personally wouldn't pay any amount of money to live just off Preston St or anywhere in the centre. Its just such a shame how the middle of town is pretty run down.

NumptiesIncorporated · 16/10/2022 14:25

At least they've dealt with two of the issues.

There's a floor plan and they've reduced the price by half a million... (Still too expensive but it's better...)

Idontgiveashitanymore · 16/10/2022 14:30

Awful

Stravaig · 16/10/2022 15:08

Brighton has so many properties with graceful proportions, lots of light, and beautiful views over gardens or sea. Why on earth pay 2 million for a dark dank cave in a less than salubrious setting? Also, that strip wood ceiling is vile. (As are the furnishings.)

I am mildly intrigued by the gas rings set directly into the counter slab, not seen that before.

If it's not selling they could try restaging with some warmth, and differentiate each bedroom. I thought it was a 1-bed from the photos! And drop the price, ofc.

miceonabranch · 16/10/2022 15:08

Why does it have more bathrooms than bedrooms?

Likehuh · 16/10/2022 15:10

I kind of like it! It feels a bit like an old tavern. Quite cosy to stay in for a weekend. However, I couldn’t live there. Far too impractical and a bit obviously trying to be unique…..to the point whereby it looks themed.

BirmaBrite · 16/10/2022 15:13

I don't know Brighton, but you can get this for the same price, I know which I would rather have !

Omg, no comparison!!!!
That house is gorgeous. And the garden!

Obki · 16/10/2022 15:17

I would hate to live in Brighton, and a pebble beach is shit.

I also think the house is meh and the road it’s on is ugly.

hattie43 · 16/10/2022 15:17

It could be amazing but it's just too dark . If the area is also grim it's an absolute no no from me

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 16/10/2022 15:27

I think the agent has taken 'arty' photos which give hardly any idea of scale of rooms.

I know nothing about the area, but it's important to me live in the thick of things. I like it. I like the style.

midsomermurderess · 16/10/2022 15:38

Slightly off topic, but I’m tired of the Instagramification of property schedules. I don’t t need to see close-ups of taps and chairs. I want to see the spaces.
I think it’s a well-designed, aesthetically-pleasing property though. No idea about Brighton house pries.

Always4Brenner · 16/10/2022 15:40

Awful pictures doesn’t show size of rooms too many shots simply not needed taps etc.

miceonabranch · 16/10/2022 15:59

The bloke paid £660,000 for the rotting shell of the original building. He's not going to make much profit. I don't know who it would appeal to as the area is a total dump.

Stravaig · 16/10/2022 16:25

I wonder if he originally intended something else but was scuppered by planning? A single luxury home is a very unintuitive use of a derelict shell in that location. Bar, restaurant, flat conversion are more obvious. The ideal and visionary use would have been as a workshop hub for local artisans. Cost less to convert too!

Plantstrees · 16/10/2022 17:14

I love the house but don't like the location. I think it would suit a certain type of person who wants to be in the city centre but certainly not for me. I love the dark windows and the timber ceiling but agree that it is probably not the most practical place to live in.
