@Gitfeatures 🤣🤣🤣 made me laugh

abblie · 20/07/2022 00:14

I have this too and it's horrible 😭 I see podiatrist every 6 months and pay £35 to have it shaven off xx

userxx · 20/07/2022 00:19

just go and see a podiatrist, they'll sort your trotters out.

Diabetic foot runs in the family, my Nan had her feet amputated so you can understand my concern.

but not concerned enough to look after your feet on a regular basis?

Crotonifolia · 20/07/2022 00:24

I'll say one thing, this thread has me a bit nervous about the imminent arrival of my first pair of Crocs 😅

Channel Islands do not have NHS. It costs to visit any medical department.

Oh God you're not that woman from Jersey are you?

RiojaRose · 20/07/2022 00:31

People with diabetes can get heel and toe fissures. So can anyone. But with diabetes the combination of high blood glucose and poor circulation makes it harder to fight off infections. So heel fissures can lead to long term infection, which can lead to gangrene, which leads to amputation.

If you don’t have diabetes, or any other problems with your circulation, you’re very unlikely to need an amputation as a result of dry skin on your feet.

But if you have underlying health issues it’s worthwhile talking to a doctor.

FarmGirl78 · 20/07/2022 00:36

They look like feet with thick hard skin that have been festering in their own juices for too long. Have you been using freezer bags for socks? 🤣

ThreeLittleDots · 20/07/2022 01:09

Is this not what an acute fungal infection looks and feels like? Poor you!

CheeseTopping · 20/07/2022 01:15

Looks water logged to me!

allboysherebutme · 20/07/2022 01:21

Hopefully she will come back and let us know what happens. X

DimplesToadfoot · 20/07/2022 01:22

I've a gory (ish) pic of a diabetic foot sore if you want to see, Its absolutely nothing like ops pic

HeyBlaby · 20/07/2022 01:23

Wind up surely?

steff13 · 20/07/2022 01:24

My feet, like the rest of my body, are diabetic. They don't look anything like that.

HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd · 20/07/2022 01:28

Did OP mean she had actual sepsis symptoms as well as calloused feet?

RenegadeMatron · 20/07/2022 01:39

If you don’t have diabetes, you don’t have ‘diabetic foot’, surely?

That foot has built up over days / weeks / months / years.

How do you suddenly look at it, and decide: A&E?

Why not just go to your GP in one of the many passing days / weeks / months / years?

This thread is all round odd.

steff13 · 20/07/2022 02:02

It looks a little like trench foot. Exactly how long were you in the shower?

Kerrrmieee · 20/07/2022 02:08

I go barefoot everywhere and am the first to admit to my Gorilla feet. I do have very hard skin but nowhere as thick as that. Maybe 3mm thickness and that's after years of barefoot.

I couldn't imagine not being able to go bare foot because I may tread on something.

I'm a weirdo, it's fine.

It does look a bit trench foot!

sausage767 · 20/07/2022 02:14

Your ankle looks very swollen to me, that could require investigation.

SaggyBlinders · 20/07/2022 02:52

Time to start seeing a podiatrist and look after your feet!

SaggyBlinders · 20/07/2022 02:53

Just looks like thick crusty skin which has cracked in places, and potentially might have a fungal infection. Podiatrist needed, not A&E.

Unrealnotunrealistic · 20/07/2022 03:18

You know people with diabetes (not cryabetes) have feelings too? Have some empathy

Waitwait · 20/07/2022 04:11

I can help here - I could have written this post myself a few weeks ago! My feet looked identical. Eventually I went to a podiatrist, thinking I have hard/dry skin that they would shave off (which I know the NHS don’t cover). But I could have saved myself the fee because in fact it is a fungal infection. So:

  • the worst thing you can do is add more moisture so all the hard skin creams in the world won’t help - they will actually make it worse.l

  • you need Lamisil (which you can buy on Amazon OR do as I did and phone the GP and say that the podiatrist has said you need it so please can they prescribe it - mine was happy to do on the phone). Use twice a day.

  • you can also get an anti fungal spray to use on your feet and shoes called Daktarin

  • the next stage up in intervention is soaking in potassium permanganate - beware, it stains your feet dark brown! You can get the stains off (mostly) with hydrogen peroxide (also anti-fungal).

  • if none of the above works after weeks, then the dr can prescribe an oral anti-fungal (not suitable for everyone though)

I wish I had known all this before - I had the most disgusting feet in the world and a combo of the cream and pot perm is doing the trick! I honestly feel like spreading the word as so many women seem to suffer from it thinking it’s just hard skin when in fact it’s a fungal infection.

Bednobsbroomsticks · 20/07/2022 05:33

What did they say OP?

Oblomov22 · 20/07/2022 05:40

Surely OP should have seen GP before if this was a problem?
