Literally panicking at my feet, to think this is diabetic foot!

Well it's not a given if you have diabetes that your foot will be like that.

im diabetic and my feet aren't.

I find the only way to stop them getting dry at all is to drink plenty of water. Putting stuff on my feet doesn't seem to help.

but I'd say you need to see a podiatrist.and a GP to check for diabetes as well.

Nannyamc · 19/07/2022 23:18

I am a diabetic and my feet do not look like this. I wash and steep my feet in water and baby oil each night. I also use vaseline and cotton socks each day.

SkiingIsHeaven · 19/07/2022 23:19

I think you need to go to your GP.

Crotonifolia · 19/07/2022 23:21

They look sore, but I wouldn't immediately jump to diabetes unless you have other symptoms. You mention sepsis too, do you have any of the symptoms for that? If you're concerned you certainly could call NHS24 or whatever it's called, A&E will likely have a very long wait and isn't necessary unless you do actually have worrying sepsis symptoms?

I had cellulitis recently in my leg, the pharmacist was able to prescribe antibiotics. That's another port of call to try in the morning if you feel it's more suitable than hospital this evening.

Burnedoutdr · 19/07/2022 23:23

Oh fgs. Firstly if you had 8/10 pain you wouldn't be posting on here. Secondly you don't seem to understand diabetes or sepsis and are jumping to conclusions. Thirdly you are weight bearing in pic 2 so I doubt you're completely unable to walk. This is a GP issue.

ParmaLily · 19/07/2022 23:26

I’m waiting for a call back from OOH to see if it’s a septic foot. Thanks for the advice.

UmbilicusProfundus · 19/07/2022 23:27

Is this a wind up? How on earth do you jump to the random conclusion that you have a diabetic foot? And you don’t even have diabetes. Just see a podiatrist or your GP if you must. It’s really not an A&E issue.

ParmaLily · 19/07/2022 23:27

Diabetic foot runs in the family, my Nan had her feet amputated so you can understand my concern.

justasking111 · 19/07/2022 23:28

My croc flip flops do this and I only wear them on and off. In the winter with socks and shoes my feet are fine. I would however get those feet seen ASAP. Your ankles look swollen too

ParmaLily · 19/07/2022 23:29

Thank you, waiting for the OoH to call back. Hopefully I can go to A&E

Hard skin can build up over time and become very painful (reflexologist here) my advice is make an appointment with a chiropodist who will deal with the layers of hard dead skin then you can keep on Top of them.try not to pick them a good foot file on dry feet may help but a chiropodist would be better x

My nan always You should exfoliate and moisturise your feet as often as your face, 👣

TrashyPanda · 19/07/2022 23:30

Why do you think dry skin on feet means you have sepsis?

Jacopo · 19/07/2022 23:32

Stop drinking diet coke for a start.
Drink water.

Blowthemandown · 19/07/2022 23:34

@ParmaLily That’s how mine looked after lockdown - not going out, no socks to rub the skin down, so loads of dry skin. Didn’t hurt though. Have you had cuts anywhere that have become infected?

Tillsforthrills · 19/07/2022 23:34

It does look infected. Best thing that OOH will call, they’ll give you an appointment.

Ignore all the silly comments and questions when you’re feeling so bad and in pain.

Jennybeans401 · 19/07/2022 23:35

I'm amazed you can sleep with all the caffeine!

pastabest · 19/07/2022 23:37

That's dry hard skin that you have had soaking in the bath for some time.

it looks minging right now because you basically have a load of soggy dead skin attached to your foot but it's nothing that a decent foot file and some flexitol 25% urea hero balm won't fix.

the pain is probably from the cracks. They can be a bit sore but again foot file/ heel balm for a week should fix it.

onmobile · 19/07/2022 23:37

ridiculous 🙄

DiscoBadgers · 19/07/2022 23:40

You say you wear crocs - do you wear plastic shoes a lot? And do you naturally get quite sweaty feet? If so you may have basically given yourself trench foot.

DrNo007 · 19/07/2022 23:41

Drinking Diet Coke is a risk factor for diabetes and obesity due to the aspartame, which is nasty stuff. So you are not doing your health any favours. This is a pretty good article referencing the studies: blog.biotrust.com/side-effects-of-aspartame/

5zeds · 19/07/2022 23:41

Slather them in Vaseline while they’re still soaked, then soak again in the morning and scrub them gently with a nail brush. Repeat morning and night, they’ll be much better in a week or so and fixed soon after

alnawire · 19/07/2022 23:44

I can't believe you won't to take these crusty feet to A&E Hmm

Put on some moisturiser, a pair of socks and go to bed.

Mirw · 19/07/2022 23:44

There is no such thing as "diabetic feet"!! People with diabetes sometimes get infections if they have a cut or graze that they font clean properly.

What you have is hard skin that has got soaked and needs to be buffed off. Go see a podiatrist abd leave A&E for those who are in more need than you.

Sarahcoggles · 19/07/2022 23:45

This is why the NHS is broken. People with dry skin on their feet considering A&E.

ParmaLily · 19/07/2022 23:46

OOH suggested going to A&E so I’m on my way.
