@BeautifulWar and it's sitting not sat. That ruins any attempt to be posh, if you 'were sat' anywhere.

YANBU, they are common. But we can’t discuss class on here.

Is this your first time?

surreygirl1987 · 13/07/2022 14:13

I want one!

You sound really snobby and class prejudiced by the way... 'chav' is an awful word and should be used. It is typically used to mock, stereotype and judge the working class.

AryaStarkWolf · 13/07/2022 14:17

I think they look like a lot of fun, i don't know anyone who has one though

surreygirl1987 · 13/07/2022 14:17

My mum's neighbours have one and it's possibly the most inconsiderate thing you can imagine - although that fits in perfectly with their general antics. They're in it till late at night, noisy and above all have the kind of lighting you generally find in prison camps. I think the bar is potentially a great idea if it's yours, and potentially a nightmare if you happen to live near someone with one

Depends on how you use it, surely! It's surely no different to having a party with a drinks table or a cooler... we have the occasional bbq with friends and put drinks on a table. If we had an outdoor bar we would do anything differently but drinks would be at the bar instead of on the table! We are really considerate neighbours (if my toddlers start whining for instance, we take them straight inside so we don't disturb anyone).

Scianel · 13/07/2022 14:24

I keep seeing this in trending, and because of the capitalisation I read it as keep seeing Boris in people's gardens.

I keep reading it as Bears. Which would be a lot more interesting (in the UK!) than bars!

Me too 😂

leotardrock · 13/07/2022 14:27

I think we need a thread of photos of peoples garden bars! Smile

What about fire pits and outdoor pizza ovens? They stink therefore they are antisocial. Should they be banned too? Or are they ok because they're middle class?

How about we ban everything that gives people pleasure in their gardens. 🙄Surprised nobody is moaning about bbq’s yet. Give me a garden bar with a few friends having fun than an afternoon of yapping dogs left outside for hours annoying everyone.

SoupDragon · 13/07/2022 15:02

That means you'd have to ban peace and quiet. 😂

It's not sneering at the upper classes, it's sneering at people who perceive themselves to be among the upper classes.

Not the threads I've seen, no.

see how posters try to justify it as being absolutely fine...?

That's what I mean about potentially - it can be great, but it depends on circumstances. Theirs is big, right next to my mum's house, brightly lit and has a huge, very loud TV. You'd struggle to be considerate given all that, and they're not.

I think they can be lovely, but only if people take into account those around them. That said, the sort of people who are inconsiderate with a bar would be inconsiderate in other ways anyway.

lllllllllll · 13/07/2022 15:18

I'll be honest - if I was viewing a house and spotted one of these in a neighbouring garden, it would put me off making an offer. I'd be concerned that the neighbours would be constantly having parties.

Palamon · 13/07/2022 15:21

I have a friend that has one. It’s totally tacky but she’s made it that way on purpose and loving the naffness. Our group bought her various bits of tat for the grand opening - a light box, terrible cocktail accessories, an inflatable palm tree etc.

You don’t have an outdoor bar if you care about decorum. 😂

HesterShaw1 · 13/07/2022 15:26

I'd fucking love a bar in the garden.

quicklybeendrivenmad · 13/07/2022 15:27

Don't have an outside bar, but seem to have committed the mortal sin of owning a hot tub, pizza oven, a bbq, also own an Audi and an SUV, I must be going straight to hell according to this thread 😆

madasawethen · 13/07/2022 15:32

People can do whatever they want in their own gardens. bar, sex pond, volleyball court, etc.

Garden bars are probably chavy or bogan

My childhood had hillbilly porch parties so who am I to judge.

How dare you enjoy yourself and own things you like 😁

It's hilarious how many Hyacinth Bucket's there are out there.

devonianBiatch · 13/07/2022 15:33

I'm mega chavvy. I've got a hot tub, tons of artificial wisteria, cane tiki style furniture, a bar, outdoor kitchen, log burner, a huge built in sand pit with a working digger, and a giant white PVC gazebo that you can see from space.

I really couldn't care less what anybody thinks of me. I'm just sat outside now and it's really like another room in the house and wet use the garden SO much more more. I'm really enjoying my space with my kids and grandkids and this weekend I'm hosting my DHs and daughters birthday party. Got about 40 people coming and they are all really excited as my parties are legendary. I pre warn the neighbours, they never have a problem with it providing it doesn't go on past 11 in the garden.

HesterShaw1 · 13/07/2022 15:35

@devonianBiatch that sounds lush!

Ori1 · 13/07/2022 15:41

@Scianel

I read it as Boris in people's garden's too, my word he does get around. I thought after the whole partygate thing he'd stay out of ppl's garden's, especially where a bar is involved but clearly not 😄

AryaStarkWolf · 13/07/2022 15:42

@devonianBiatch Sounds amazing!

gogohmm · 13/07/2022 15:43

If I had space I'd love one, and a cedar hot tub, we certainly don't fall into chavvy but we like fun - if fun is chavvy so be it
