I'm getting married on Sunday

No reason for AIBU, just posting in a panic because it's supposed to be 34 degrees in London.

My make up is going to melt, I'm going to have a sweaty crotch, and my hair is going to be fucked.

If you've gotten married in stupid temperatures please post your tips to not be a sweaty slime goblin. Wedding is at 1, reception starting at 4, dinner at 5. Evening guests from 7.

Do I literally wipe and re-do my makeup at 6.30pm? I've asked the venue to provide ice ice cold water both still and sparking, and bringing iced bottles of water to ceremony for 2 young bridesmaids.

Im honestly tempted to bring a white cotton beach dress and change into that at 8pm. My wedding dress is lined lace 😂 which would have been fine in October 2020 when the wedding was originally planned for - note: wedding is now due to terminally unwell MiL so not really our choice to have a roasting july day.

Wtf England, you're usually 23 and drizzling on this date.

So to conclude I need advice on eyeliner melting, sweaty vag in lace dress, and to help children not faint in London on Sunday. FUCK.

Thank you.

Thank you! Blotting paper and spare underwear is a good shout.

Omg I've said to DP it's going to be hot, and if he's pissed and sweaty there willl be no wedding night sex. We've been together over a decade!

I'll be too hot grumpy drunk Sunday. I'll offer a shag tonight.

Surely wedding night sex isn't compulsory in 33 degrees

I have dry skin so use a dewy type primer from no 7 but find most of them drying - get one of those! Post on the style and beauty thread for the most drying and mattifying one out there, plus a mattifying powder.

Do you have a plan for your make up and stuff you usually use? If you have a practise run this week when it’s very hot you’ll see how long it lasts.

You want to think about mascara blobs going under your eyes if your cheeks sweat. Trial and error is the way to go.

Foundation: Huda (thick but high coverage so you don't need a lot)

Primer: Benefit

Loose power: Laura Mercier

Setting spray: Urban Decay

Prep and Prime (refreshes make-up) Mac

Perfect thank you

I’d treat it like you were in the Caribbean. Little make up, tell everyone dress code is linen or cotton and if there’s bridesmaids and men in suits let them know to dress down or at least bring something to change into…

it Will be fab. I went as a guest to a wedding in heatwave, it was fab.

LucyLoopyLu · 12/07/2022 21:32

If you're going to be outside a lot why not buy some nice umbrellas that people can use as parasols? Or at least one for yourself

rainyskylight · 12/07/2022 21:34

will there be enough shade outside? Tipis and tents can get very very hot. If there aren’t a good amount of trees then you should think about extra parasols or something, otherwise people will really suffer. If there’s shade and a breeze, it will be fine.

OwBist · 12/07/2022 21:34

Good luck, I'm sure it'll be fabulous, but please don't drink freezing cold water on a boiling hot day - your body sometimes can't cope with the temperature difference, so evacuates the liquid asap back up, or down.... Probably not a risk to take on your wedding day. Tepid all the way! 😀

mnahmnah · 12/07/2022 21:35

Rather than changing knickers, lots of panty liners and replace when necessary

Bridesmaids armed with handheld fans whenever you need them

Cooling towels

Can you hire air con units?

FourOclock · 12/07/2022 21:37

I got married in similar temps and I was 13 weeks pregnant 😅

You know those flat ice packs you can get, normally for bumps for children, I had one of those down my pants - game changer! We were in a church that was roasting and noone listened to me when I requested we have fans the week before. Somebody also left a cool bag with water in plus two little cups under our pews for me and DH to sip.

Make up wise, I kept it very neutral, and as light as possible. Concealer just where I needed it and then a tinted moisturiser rather than full on foundation, and minimal eye make up. I wore my hair up as I knew it would just be a sweaty mess around my neck otherwise.

We also told all guests beforehand to wear whatever they liked, no need to wear suits etc if they're too hot. And encouraged people to change as soon as we were back from church. We did have an outdoor pool at the reception venue so most people were in that fairly quickly, kids especially. I'd get a paddling pool for kids!!

ChaosMoon · 12/07/2022 21:38

I'd go with period pants and change into something nice at the end of the day. They'll keep you feeling fresh.

And a paddling pool that people can stand in with a nice glad of bubbles. Maybe a footspa under your table so you can cool your feet down down while you eat.

www.amazon.co.uk/Beauty-Formulas-Cooling-Spray-Travel/dp/B00L92YWSE/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=cooling+face+spray&qid=1657658195&sr=8-7 Get any of this type of spray and use it on the back of your neck, it is instantly cooling. Even men who say they don't want it, once they feel it, can't get enough of it.

Athenajm80 · 12/07/2022 21:42

You can usually get cooling spray at Poundland. I usually buy a few when I pass, one for work, one for home, one for my bag. It really does feel amazingly refreshing.

Also driclor is similar to odaban but cheaper. I use it as I sweat lots so apply underboob, on my back, and my thighs.

Good luck and congratulations!

AntiHop · 12/07/2022 21:43

Go without makeup? I didn't wear makeup on my wedding day (I never wear makeup).
Handheld fan.

Bestshapeever · 12/07/2022 21:44

Your wedding will be perfect, how glorious, hot sunshine and tipis!

No knickers? Eeek, if not, I'd definitely take about half a dozen pairs to keep changing into and freezing cold wipes to sort yourself out in-between.

have a fab day!

Hotinnit · 12/07/2022 21:49

Tbh I would consider changing into a second dress if yours is quite heavy. You can also redo your makeup at that point if needed to something lighter.

chiffchaffchiff · 12/07/2022 21:52

Estée Lauder double wear for foundation and urban decay setting spray. My skin is oily by 10am but even my oil slick face can't budge that!

Hotinnit · 12/07/2022 21:53

Make up essentials for hot weather:
Urban decay setting spray, don't bother with any other.
Blotting paper and touch up powder - clarins do a set in a little case.
Use mascara sparingly on bottom lashes, consider using a pencil liner.
Primer- consider a mattifying one over a glowy one
Build foundation up in light layers.
Either bring a mini setting spray in your bag or a can of water to mist your face.

Bit confused by this obsession with changing your pants… Are you all sweating in your crotch?!

holidayelbow · 12/07/2022 21:55

My wedding day was 30+ in southern England. My hair was up off my neck. My makeup was professionally done and lasted all day without issue. One of those neck fans might be a good idea. My wedding venue was quite cool inside so I was lucky in that respect but when I took my wedding dress if at night I had to peel it off.

Are you not?

SpeckofDustUponMySoul · 12/07/2022 21:58

Go commando and air your sweaty flaps.

blackgreywhite · 12/07/2022 21:59

Congratulations!

I would just pack a light dress/outfit to change into after the ceremony/photos especially comfy flip flops/sandals as if your like me my feet control the rest of my bodies temperature.

Good luck and it will be fab (and at least it's not going to be cold - I've been to loads of freezing weddings and they are awful!)

ethelredonagoodday · 12/07/2022 22:00

Our wedding day was 33c. As someone else said, get one of your bridesmaids (if you're having them) to give you a flannel wash if you need it! Set your make up and enjoy the day! You'll be too busy having a wonderful day to notice the heat!

mogtheexcellent · 12/07/2022 22:02

Pop some anti chafing cream under arms if dress has beading or sequins and on each inner thigh/bikini line.

Lanacane is what i use from Boots but there are other brands as popular with cyclists

adultingforever · 12/07/2022 22:08

In super hot weather I like to lie in a very cold bath for about 15 minutes before I get dressed. It helps me stay cool for a long time, like over an hour and really helps me cope.
