To wonder why William and Kate don't walk out of Wimbledon?

Why are they putting up with Kyrious swearing and shouting?

Would love it if they did? Also wish Novak would complain about it?

He is spoiling the final with his ranting and his commentary. Can't believe Wimbledon are allowing it?

Wish someone would grow a pair and put a stop to it?
Wish they would walk out with George.

What a hot-headed and nasty character. Do something BBC.

I've not watched any of it! Is Kyrios like the happy Gilmore of the tennis world?

Yeah but he is in trouble for assaulting his ex girlfriend which Happy Gilmore would not have done. And I don't think Kyrgios is trying to win his grandmas house back either Grin

Kyrgios is getting fined for his swearing today, according to one of the papers, and has already been fined a couple of times during the tournament.

I find him fascinating. He'll go through a spell of playing superbly and then just fall apart for a while, then play a shot or two that seem near impossible. I could do without the ranting, but that intrigues me too. Sometimes he seems to play better after a good rant, as though he's more focussed, and other times it seems to make him fall apart.

Djokovic is a genius, but I can't warm to him at all.

I believe it's called 'inconsistency' and him being exceptional at fluke shots. He's not a consistently good player, he just has some excellently timed moments, which has helped him to fail upwards, essentially.

@RosesAndHellebores

The LTA needs to have a hard think about the impact on local residents.

I suspect most if not all local residents bought their house knowing full well that for two weeks a year there would be a tennis tournament going on. What did they expect?

crimesagainstwine · 11/07/2022 00:12

Krygios is an example of what happens when you embrace "interesting" rather than have a true sports ethos. He will crash and burn very soon which is a shame and a tremendous waste of talent.

Having said that I have more of an issue with Nadal and Federer's use of "alleged" enhancement drugs and the fact that because they are tennis royalty they will never be challenged on what is an open secret in the tennis world.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 11/07/2022 01:04

They are stressing about falling attendance

Really? And yet it's impossible for many of us to get a ticket in the ballot. Or do they mean corporate attendance?

This inconsistency is incredibly frustrating to watch. And he rants to his own family and friends in his player box. He abuses them for his own mistakes. If they don't clap at the right time, or enough, obscenities are hurled in their direction. If he isn't winning, it is their fault. It's this quality in particular I dislike in Kyrgios.

Boredoutmymind · 11/07/2022 02:59

Dont worry about swearing. Wimbledon are already racists by banning Russian and Belarussian players. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from them.

I know someone who camps every year and queues for tickets daily. He has said the numbers camping and queuing were significantly lower this year.

@MushyPeasPrincess nothing to do with disagreement. Some of the language in that post was shocking! Kyrigos has clearly been an excellent teacher!

Yes lets allow the murderous Russians to claim Business as Usual, as they bomb, destroy and rape their way through Ukraine - around 70% are in full support of this war.

The Russians have already used Elena Rybakina to further their aims, she should never have been allowed to play.

We are at war with Russia, billions sent in weapons, economic and cyber war used against us, yet you want Russians to continue as normal.

The ridiculous thing about Kyrgios is that he doesn’t even help his cause by challenging calls that are incorrect, he just moans about them afterwards. There were several instances of this today.

Kyrgios’s on court behaviour is disgraceful, I agree, and the authorities are spineless because he’s good box office.

I agree with PPs about Andrew Castle, I also dislike him especially his obvious admiration for Kyrgios. I wonder what he achieved in tennis to merit being a commentator as well. I think the only notable thing he achieved was to take Matts Wilander to 5 sets. But he nevertheless still lost the match!!! Other than that I don’t remember him achieving anything of note.

He was British number 1 in an era when we didn't come close to winning anything.

SleeplessInEngland · 11/07/2022 07:40

I went from being put off by Kyrigous’s behaviour to quickly finding it hilarious. I wish he’d do it more.

He actually was a consistently good player up until the final, never losing a service game. It was his temperament that was inconsistent.

ExcaliburBaby · 11/07/2022 08:02

Not a fan of either player but Kyrgios putting a red cap on at the end of the presentation was 100% a dick move that no amount of MH sympathy can excuse. Plus if he spent less time ranting and actually paid attention at what was going on and challenged points he would have way more chance of winning! 🤦‍♀️

twilightermummy · 11/07/2022 08:21

He said the other day that he doesn’t have a coach because he wouldn’t put himself on anybody like that!

whynotwhatknot · 11/07/2022 12:11

he used to have coaches they either quit or he fired them

i dont like the way he rants at his supporters theyre not the ones playing its him that loses it not them

I agree with the ban as do many. Awful unsportsmanlike behaviour by Krygios.

TrashPandas · 11/07/2022 17:31

He won £1m and was fined £3,500 for swearing. That'll teach him, won't it?

He was fined multiple times during the tournament. Specifically after his first round match and the tsisipas match

TrashPandas · 11/07/2022 17:52

And? It's a drop in the bucket. He should've been made to forfeit the match and all winnings.

tigger1001 · 11/07/2022 18:10

@girlfriend44 why lower numbers?

He thought it was partly to do with federer not being there - he has said in previous years how many travel and camp that come to see federer. And partly covid reasons/people not travelling etc

I'm sure they have a protocol for this stuff. Perhaps write to Wimbledon if you feel that strongly!

tttigress · 11/07/2022 21:09

I don't think McEnroe said F* that often, we just remember the tes he did more.

Obviously he smashed his racquet a fair bit, I guess it is a moot point which is worse.

Re: Novak, I doubt he was bothered, on the country happy to see Kyrgios destroy himself.
