Dog owners, are you walking them today?

I've been away for the weekend and just arrived home so couldn't get up at 5am when it's still cool to take my spaniel for a run like I would normally when we have weather like this.

I've seen that it's still going to be 26 degrees at 9pm tonight.

I feel really guilty when he goes without a walk however it just doesn't sound like it's going to cool down to a reasonable temperature tonight.

Are you giving walks a miss today/tonight?

10 minutes sniffy in the woods this morning around 8am (they 'find' a sausage mine... a tupperware tub with a sausage in it. No one knows where the sausage fairies put it each day...) but thats each.. individually to ensure no one pulls or gets silly..

Even my Saluki has declared it Too Hot and flomped in front of a fan, if she has to go anywhere there are sighs and hair flicking like Kevin the Teenager and then she goes to the next nearest fan or cool spot and just... lets go her legs and flomps over sideways as it is TOO HOT to even lie down properly.

If we had a nice cool house, we might do a bit more but we don't unfortunately, the house is not that much cooler than outside (well, it is but.. it certainly isn't cool enough to feel NICE) and thats with all the doors and windows open to try and get some sort of air flow. Bloody terraces.. the back gets the sun all morning and the front gets it all afternoon/evening.

So not only can't we take the dogs out much, but WE can't both go out either as shutting the house up would make it dangerously hot for the dogs :(

I’m amazed the posters who went out 10am. Where do you live? It was so hot here at 10am, even in the shade, it was far too hot for a dog to be running around fields.

Cumbria. Top temperature of 23 today. I walked my dog at 9:00 ish - it was 17°. Up to 18° by the time I got back. By Wednesday it's supposed to be back down to top temperatures of 17.

Played out in the rain, got wetted on Saluki. Clearly, my fault it was raining.

I know I am TERRIBLY cruel..

Todays list of OUTRAGES are..

I would not get out of my wheelchair so she could sit in it.
I would not let her sit on my lap whilst I worked, because she has a boney arse and is very fluffy and hot.
I would not turn the temps down.
I would not let her roast herself outside.
I will NOT let her watch the trickling outdoor tap (she does not want the pool, UGH water, she wants to watch water trickle down the yard), I turned it off.

Most abusively of all though...

No matter how hard she squeaks and strops, I will not fetch out the stinking dead rat that has died under our shed... so that she can roll in it.

As a human minion, I am a dead loss and she is sulking, as only a feral fairy dragon can!

We adore her, no matter how loopy she is! :D Absolutely smitten.

I bet she does good strops. We used to say this guy should be on the RSPCA Christmas advert, and the voiceover could say, 'This Christmas....dogs like B....haven't been the center of attention....for up to thirty seconds at a time'.

I have a chihuahua and even he won't be getting walked before 10pm or after 7am for the next few days. It's just not fair otherwise. We have air con and we will do multiple sessions of fetch on the nice cool room!

Strops... oh my... do you remember the Charlie Says public information films with the cat yowling away making a horrible noise.

That. We do that if.. something is on the thing we want to sit on. Someone is sitting where we want to sit. The weather is wrong. We aren't allowed to go and steal things from the kitchen (or check to see if there are things to steal) or someone LOOKED at us wrong and we don't want to walk past them or or or... a lot of them, I have no clue.
She's done it when wanting to sit in my lap, and I have invited her up to sit in my lap, and then she... CharlieSays at me... and I have to fidget about until my lap is.. the right shape? I really don't know!

@WiddlinDiddlin well yes, but she is a Saluki and she does you the honour of existing in your presence, so...
