Or not?

DD wakes at around 5, so when is a reasonable time to wake DH?

@User48751490 my husband would sleep until 1 if I let him. Some people enjoy it. I love a nap myself. Wouldn't say it's wasting the day if you enjoy it

I don’t have children but for me anything after 8am is a proper lie in.

Half the day is in by then! I couldn't lie in that length of time. Life is for living!

It’s not if you’re up until 3amish - I can assure you we’re doing just as much living, only on a slightly different clock!

There’s nothing lovelier to us at the moment than a late night and a long lazy lie-in. Glorious.

I am the opposite. Up very sharp, especially in the spring and summer to make the best of all available daylight hours. Love being in bed super early, that's my time for peace and quiet. Bliss.

Good to see we are all different.

It’s sleep time in our house until 7am, a dc waking before that would be put back to bed. Why are you getting up at 5am? (I’m not a morning person which you can probably tell).

alphapie · 10/07/2022 19:41

Fuck no.

Anything before 9 is definitely not a lie in

NancyJoan · 10/07/2022 19:47

DD knows I’m in the house and just doesn’t want DH first thing

Of course she does, if every morning of her life she’s got up with you.

You'd have soon found with DD that this wouldn't have been an option. She was awake, perfectly happy and rested at 4am for a year. Of course it turns out she's ND and that's why. But simply, 'putting her back' would not have worked.

I had a great eater. I don't give people advice on food because I know nothing about it. If you have a good sleeper (or even an average one) you know nothing about sleep. Don't give advice.

Anything before 7 I would have treated as a night waking. By continuing to get up at 5am you keep the body clock set at that time and it’s hard to change. My friend used to get up at 4am with her kid and put the TV on for years. Madness.

Do what you would if they woke up at 1am. Have black out blinds. Unless you like getting up at 5am. But in Winter that sounds grim.
