As per title.

She has said she will run in the leadership contest, would be a breath of fresh air.

It'll end up being Truss or Sunak. People who hate the latter will collate around the former and she'll probably win.

Still think Labour will win the next election - the only thing the candidates have is 'low taxes', which doesn't get you out of a cost of living/inflation crisis.

Blossomtoes · 12/07/2022 11:28

I don’t think Truss will reach the final two, the grassroots don’t much care for her. And remember that the membership - as opposed to MPs - has never voted for a woman.

balalake · 12/07/2022 11:33

The Tory membership have never had a woman to choose from, when they have had a vote.

Liz Truss could be chosen by the membership if on the ballot paper.

They do, she's consistently in the top 3 for member's polls, though admittedly I haven't looked at any since johnson resigned.

Thecatsatonthewalls · 12/07/2022 11:36

Bravermann is as mad as a box of spanners, makes France's Le Pen seem like a Corbynite.

In fact all of the Tory party make RN seem moderate, i know a few 'party members and they were/are strong supporters of Ukip, hate the EU with a passion.

Who ever is the next leader, we are in for a rough time.... in many ways, Bojo held the far right in check.

Remember the polling is all online, many Tory members don't know what the Internet is.

Truss is now 5th with Braverman 4th!

Don’t be ridiculous.

Well, some have been done by actual polling companies, but I can't speak for Conservative Home.

It would hardly be a surprise that they like her given her performative remainer-turned-EU-hater narrative.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 12/07/2022 11:43

😂

TooBigForMyBoots · 12/07/2022 11:54

Fuck sake, we might as well get Saul Goodman in and be done with it.😂

Their methodology is described here. All those surveyed are Tory party members. The sample is decent enough, the flaw is they’re self selected.

Who?

RedToothBrush · 12/07/2022 12:07

Its either 1st April, you've got swivel eyes or you have not a clue about politics.

And I think this is true even if you are a fully paid up Tory member.

CharlotteOH · 12/07/2022 12:10

YABVU. Sorry OP.

  1. She’s worked with someone I know and they say she’d be a disaster.
  2. She’s a Boris Johnson “yes man” who was appointed Attorney General because of her willingness to go along with his dodgy policies.
  3. She didn’t earn her QC title, she got given it automatically when Boris appointed her as a reward for her loyalty.
  4. She’s embarrassed herself in Court eg thecritic.co.uk/issues/november-2020/silk-but-no-silken-tongue/
  5. She’s attacking our independent judiciary, who have been the last protectors of the rule of law during the Boris Johnson government.
I think she’d be even worse than Boris.
AndreaC74 · 12/07/2022 12:12

@Blossomtoes Its not ridiculous at all, 44% of party members are over 65, far right wing, strongly brexity, hate EU/all europeans.

According to AgeUK, 4.4m over 65's have never used the Internet.

These are people stuck in the past, boomers, folk who think they fought in WW2 some in WW1.

Scary they may well pick the next PM.

thereisonlyoneofme · 12/07/2022 12:18

Beginning to look like boris wasnt so bad after all from this thread😬

Blossomtoes · 12/07/2022 12:22

I’d really like to see the breakdown of those figures. Not a single person I know over 65 and under 80 has never used the internet. I’m 70 next year and met my bloke online 24 years ago. Nobody who retired in the last 15/20 years could have done their job without it. As I said, ridiculous.

Blossomtoes · 12/07/2022 12:25

These figures @AndreaC74?

A large majority of 50-64 year olds (88%) and 65-74 year olds (75%) in England use the internet every day or almost every day, compared to under half (46%) of those aged 75+. Others use it less often, but among those aged 75+ more than two out of five (42%) do not use the internet

DoubleShotEspresso · 12/07/2022 12:25

Christ no her track record is hideous and she comes across like an out of depth sixth former .

How do you imagine she has the political gravitas and savvy to lead at a time like this or represent us on the global stage?
No chance !

PermanentTemporary · 12/07/2022 20:09

@thereisonlyoneofme one of the worst things about Johnson was that he appointed this complete bunch of mediocrities to the Cabinet. Just because they're terrible doesn't make Johnson ok.

HijadelaLuna · 12/07/2022 21:34

Haha Suella so far you have one vote from Clavinova. If Russian bots will be allowed to vote that is…
