As per title.

She has said she will run in the leadership contest, would be a breath of fresh air.

No no no! She is only in position because of support for Johnson and Brexit. Shes also not really up to it intellectually; by no means is she a proper QC: not even close - see this article thecritic.co.uk/issues/november-2020/silk-but-no-silken-tongue/.

Interesting Rozenberg also suggests she needs to stand down as Attourney General if she is to run for PM - rozenberg.substack.com/p/braverman-for-pm

Glencanto · 07/07/2022 21:15

Can we get this moved to classics?

Thwomp · 07/07/2022 21:27

However she is only 42 and probably doesn't have enough experience - one to watch certainly.
Wow, first time I’ve seen a @Clavinova opinion I’ve agreed with.

Suella should absolutely be on some sort of watchlist.

There are criminals with more respect for the law.

SnowyLamb · 07/07/2022 21:31

I listened to her on the radio this morning.

She basically admitted she'd known all along that Boris was a lying, cheating, incompetent, but that that was a price worth paying to get the party elected.

She didn't seem to think it was at all an unreasonable or unusual position to take. Completely normal to accept these things as a means to an end, so I'm not sure where the breath of fresh air is.

TankFlyBossW4lk · 07/07/2022 22:36

Right on cue Clavinova, predictable nonsense, you're a plant

Mammajay · 07/07/2022 22:48

Are you her mum!!

spanishsummers · 07/07/2022 22:55

Apparently you have a well organised campaign started Suella. I see that this thread of one of its components.

You have insufficient experience and are on the right of the party-so it's a no from me.

Bunnycat101 · 07/07/2022 23:03

She is not happening as PM. If you look at her against her female competitors - liz truss is much more known and experienced and has had a photographer in place for months trying to make her look important. Penny Mourdant will be popular because of her military background and being a bit more socially liberal. Suella is very hard line right of the party and hasn’t been a brilliant AG. If I had to put money on one of the women, it would be Penny.

If you then pit her against the men, there are candidates that are not tainted by Boris’ administration who could go well, then Sajid who got the press by going early and going big in his speech and rishi who is well known but probably too rich to win.

Mummy7777 · 07/07/2022 23:15

Funny how op has legged it and not defended herself loool

TheHateIsNotGood · 07/07/2022 23:25

Nope - who the F is Suella? The 'speculations' today have been brilliant fun - my fave is the Deputy PM must take over stance, then someone says you know that's Dominic Raab don't you?

Oh shit, is it - you know maybe we should bring back Theresa, at least she's got some experience.

Ha, ha, f'ing ha - it's been bloody hilarious today. I'd suggest a GE but Labour need to get rid of Bishop Starmer and get a Reeves/Thornberry duo going first.

Amortentia · 07/07/2022 23:27

Breath of fresh air? More like a breath of hot air. She’s just another typical Tory, full of confidence but low an actual ability or talent.

420Bruh · 07/07/2022 23:30

She is thick as fuck and a facist to boot.

AmaryIlis · 07/07/2022 23:34

ChampagneCommunist · 07/07/2022 12:02

She's trying to get the acquittal, following a jury trial, of the Colston 4 overturned - not a good look for an Attorney General

She only gets involved in individual cases when she perceives they will be politically popular. Yet the very nature of the job of the AG is that have to be prepared to be separate from the political fray because they may sometimes have to give legal advice that is politically inconvenient. Like, for instance, that it actually isn't lawful to break International treaties.

PlanetNormal · 07/07/2022 23:35

Braverman is an inexperienced junior barrister who somehow got herself elected to Parliament & was parachuted into the AG position, for which she was not remotely qualified, because she is a box ticker. She has, entirely predictably, proved to be hopelessly out of her depth in the role which is presumably what Johnson intended.

Now she is deluded enough to think she can be the next PM. 🤣

L1ttledrummergirl · 07/07/2022 23:44

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

No, just no
Yabvvvvvvvu

QuebecBagnet · 07/07/2022 23:45

She has neither the experience or intelligence.

SpinningForTheWorld · 07/07/2022 23:58

Penny Mourdant will be popular because of her military background and being a bit more socially liberal. Suella is very hard line right of the party and hasn’t been a brilliant AG. If I had to put money on one of the women, it would be Penny.

Penny Mordaunt's a hard-line gender ideologist and if she gets power we can kiss goodbye to female hospital wards, female public facilities, girls' toilets in schools (such that remain), female sports, female prisons and robust children's safeguarding. She's been led by the nose by a little circle of people (and Stonewall), and hasn't the critical skills required.

She's assembled a lacklustre team of local Tories who feel obliged to do a bit of cheerleading and who don't really get on with her terribly well.

She comes across as 'nice' and having some 'charm' in social situations, but it's just a front.

So, no thank you.

artisanbread · 08/07/2022 00:01

She was immediately my top choice as I think she would quickly reveal herself to be completely unelectable.

NancyDrooo · 08/07/2022 00:13

I preferred her in Dallas

TheHateIsNotGood · 08/07/2022 00:20

And meanwhile, who's operating our Govt?

Maybe we don't need any politicians at all.

JustMaggie · 08/07/2022 00:22

Suella Braverman??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

SausageinaBun · 08/07/2022 00:23

I find it more unpalatable to have a lawyer who doesn't mind breaking the law as PM than having a journalist who doesn't mind breaking the law as PM. Maybe it's naive to expect lawyers to be committed to upholding the law, but I still do expect that.

friendlycat · 08/07/2022 00:29

A big fat no. She’s hopelessly out of her depth in her current role let alone elevated to the role of PM.

ShandaLear · 08/07/2022 00:30

Oh good grief no. She has the oratorical skills of Bungle. Have you ever seen her on Question Time? It’s like watching a trifle trying do calculus.

Ziegfeld · 08/07/2022 00:35

someone was saying on the radio that when she was a practising lawyer, she used to be on one
of the government panels but nobody ever used her twice. Which is pretty damning.
