As he says men are women. He doesn't think this, or believe it, he just says it because he is weak and a liar.

As a socialist I don’t trust Keir Starmer. I left the Labour Party one month after he was elected. I consider him to be of Blair like substance. (Which is not a good thing).

However, anything is better than the current government. Poor women, Single mothers, disabled women, LGBT+ women and women of colour are suffering under the current government. They deserve better.

Yes. The blinkered privilege of wanting the Tory party to stay in power over this, all to protect women's rights... The irony

LAtalante · 05/07/2022 22:38

More Tory bot nonsense. It's so stupid.

I hope Johnson stays. The lying, incompetent, self-serving fucker and his cabinet of evil, contemptuous, incompetent fuckers should slither right up to the general election and get everything they deserve.

They are a collective disgrace and an utter embarrassment.

OneOfThoseOldFashionedWomen · 05/07/2022 22:38

Just out of curiosity why have you chosen to post this on a night where people suspect it might be BJ's last then?

Because whilst we need a change of government this is a series issue that I believe in needs to be challenged. I respect anyone that doesn't agree with me, we all have issues and policies that matter.

They are all fucking awful. Shat on and lied to by the Tories or shat on, pitied and patronised by Labour. So many Lib Dems just seem like very strange people, likewise the Greens and the SNP are playing at running a country.

I want John Smith ☹️

OP:

Keir.

Not Kier.

Absolutely! If you can't spell his name you can't comment! That's them the rules!

And yes this has been done, move on!

OneOfThoseOldFashionedWomen · 05/07/2022 22:45

Ha! Like the brexit debate. It hasn't been done, it is an ongoing issue.

Agree the government is collapsing and so it should, doesn't mean we should accept whatever the opposition offers us.

It isn't wrong to want a better alternative.

If it was up to me we would have a fully proportional voting system for true democracy.

It isn’t wrong to want a better alternative than Starmer, but I would consider it wrong to throw the working class, Queer community, disabled and chronically ill (all including women) under the bus if you were to vote/ support Tory on one issue.

I realise I included LGBT+ in my other post, whilst I don’t apologise for this I realise now that the T+ could be a point of contention - I would hope this won’t be the only point you take from this.

As a Lesbian, Northern NHS worker I hope you are able to support an improvement for the living conditions of many women, and an end to the suffering of many women under the current government.

TooBigForMyBoots · 05/07/2022 22:51

And the ongoing issue isn't KS, or the Green or Libdems. It's rolling back the grab of women's rights that has happened under this Tory government. They are responsible for this shithow. They are the ones with the actual power.

100%. A sad reflection of white, rich feminism in my eyes.

OneOfThoseOldFashionedWomen · 05/07/2022 22:56

Why isn't it possible to not want the current government or the alternative.

Why can't we debate rather than dismissing me as a bot?

He’s a lawyer. Of course he’s not honest. He’s also a politician, and they’re not honest either. So, combine the two and it’s no wonder he comes across as insincere and untrustworthy. But then you don’t get to be the leader of a political party in this country if you’re actually a decent individual ;)

LaFeuilleMorte · 05/07/2022 22:57

Those of you who believe that the Tories have any interest in women’s rights might wish to consider why it is that none of them were spurred to action over cases of sexual misconduct in their party until some of the victims were men.

mumda · 05/07/2022 22:57

Did I hear him say today he wants to join the EU again?

Karwomannghia · 05/07/2022 23:00

OP all these things have happened under the Tories. Why are you trying to blame Keir?
Don’t you think the Tories should take responsibility for the things happening under their watch?
Whenever the government fucks up, ie on a daily basis, Labour somehow gets the blame.

I swear these threads are started by Tory HQ as a distraction. It seems to be a much more contentious issue on MN than in real life. Women's rights are very important to me. However, I cannot support a single issue against the vast long list of heinous things the current government are doing.

Most of the things people are complaining about - loss of single sex spaces etc, are happening under a TORY government. Do you see them doing anything to stop it? Is there any evidence at all that they give a tiny f*ck about women's rights? Which bills have they put forward to support women?

This. 100 times this.

Tirednurse1 · 05/07/2022 23:00

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 05/07/2022 21:23

@Isitsixoclockalready

Unfortunately too many people are unaware about this so it is important that people are made aware.

For a lot of women even for those on the left women's rights are a deal breaker and so they will vote Tory.

You could say that we are helping the other parties to realise this and therefore doing them a favour.

Yet another thread where we sit on different sides of the fence. Interesting to add some Tory context to your posts on the NHS thread.

Any woman ‘on the left’ who votes conservative is not left wing.

My godmother is a gender critical feminist, but she would never vote Tory. She has seen the harm done to women in the past 12 years.

what do you propose for the alternative ?

You are very selectively answering only a few posters - if you are ignoring replies you can’t complain people won’t debate - it’s you that isn’t.

SirVixofVixHall · 05/07/2022 23:03

Different governments may do things that adversely affect women , many of those things can be changed with a change of government. However If we lose our rights as a sex class, they will be almost impossible to get back.

Shamelessly stolen from another thread:

They refused to make misogyny a Hate Crime and they have refused to protect abortion rights. You are placing a lot of trust in them if you believe they are going to fix what they have broken. They are the government, if they wanted to protect women's spaces, womens rights and free speech, they'd have done it by now.

Thanks @TooBigForMyBoots.

OP didn't mention the conservatives though 🤔

Well we aren’t sure who they are at the the moment. Seem to be missing a few…..

Tirednurse1 · 05/07/2022 23:16

Will you vote ?
