To hope Johnson doesn't resign?

Because if he clings on until the next GE, he'll be completely unelectable and we'll be rid of the Tories.

I'm hoping he digs his heels in just like he always has, even though by rights he should be fucking off with his tail between his legs.

Sajid fluffed it!!

stumbled all the way through and my only conclusion at the end: there is no way in gods earth this man will ever make PM!!

So it’s just as well he is going to settle in the shadows of the backbenches

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2022 13:19

I know true blue voters in RL. Even they know BJ is the wrong person in the wrong job

I’m married to one. He’s heartbroken at the damage Johnson is doing his party. I’m trying to tone down my enjoyment in the interest of marital harmony.

You do know that note, ot similar, is a long tradition during a change of government. The Tories just used it for political advantage. Even before Covid we were worse off financially after austerity.

I do find it funny how people assume Labour will sink the economy, when we have had austerity and services crumbling and the debt has got much, much larger during this too (this was before COVID). I don't think it matters who is in charge, the way global economics are conducted is completely nuts, that's why we have an issue, but if we are going through economic hardship I would rather have a compassionate party elected that see it as their duty to help people in need, not deny that it is happening and that the suffering people are enduring is minimal. For me it is accepting all options are shit, so I'm choosing the best option to lead us through this shit. I'm not sure who it will be when it comes to a GE, but it wouldn't be Conservative.

SueSaid · 06/07/2022 13:23

'Sajid fluffed it!!'

I know didn't he say have instead of haven't at a crucial moment Grin. Doesn't he have any sense of loyalty to his colleagues if not BJ?

ClaudineClare · 06/07/2022 13:23

Well, he is quite young and he did get the job done

He is pushing 60, Brexit is far from "done" and the pandemic is still ongoing with 181,000 deaths and still counting.

Roussette · 06/07/2022 13:24

BJ has been hounded by the media for 2yrs

Diddums. Perhaps if he stopped lying and didn't break the law, that might not have happened.

This help will only bring more need for austerity and national debt.

Uncontrolled foreign aid = taxes + austerity + debt
Uncontrolled immigration = taxes + austerity + debt
Uncontrolled benefits system for the world and his wife = taxes + austerity + debt
Uncontrolled support for nebulous charities and 'campaigns' = taxes + austerity + debt

Meanwhile all this craze prevents everyone to focus on pushing forward so that the country can stay afloat

Those who cry out for bottomless 'compassion' cannot see this. Is it that difficult to put 2+2 together?

SueSaid · 06/07/2022 13:30

'and the pandemic is still ongoing with 181,000 deaths and still counting.'

Yes correct there was/is a pandemic!

We don't have anywhere near the highest death rate with the hysterical journos reported on. BJ actually opened everything up in July 2021 when Labour were predicting 100000 cases a day, Sir Beer even called it the 'Johnson variation'. How hilarious! Except as always he was wrong and there wasn't 100k cases daily. As I've said we should all be very grateful we've had BJ the last 2yrs.

It's the old Trump play book. His followers don't believe in scrutiny or democracy.

Summerwhereareyou · 06/07/2022 13:32

Chris they have just lifted nmw.
They have also just raised ni threshold, I'm grateful..
It should never have had to be done, but better late than never ie there should always have been a threshold.

Re a compassionate party, I remember very well what horrors lay at the end of a decade of Tony Blair.
Local hospital were not run down they were decimated.
Locals were afraid to end up in one.
Schools were horrendous.
I had a disabled relatvie humiliated by forms and ss.
Tb also attacked legal aid.

At that time myself and my family were in lots of need and I didn't find any compassion?

Are you Zahawi?

Who has said that any spending will be uncontrolled or based on 'bottomless' compassion?

SleeplessInEngland · 06/07/2022 13:34

19 ministers and private secretaries have resigned in the last 20 hours, not including MPs who've publicly told Johnson to resign.

Bloody mainstreeem meeja!

HannahSternDefoe · 06/07/2022 13:36

Doesn't really make much difference...
Labour and LibDems think if you wear a frock and call yourself Joyce you're a woman.

Like @ChristinaXYZ I will pinch my nose and vote tory (sorry Dad).

SleeplessInEngland · 06/07/2022 13:36

Sorry, should have said 20.

apintortwo · 06/07/2022 13:37

Local hospital were not run down they were decimated

Public health should be prioritised and those truly in need of benefits should be assisted. But there's too much waste in the name of 'compassion' now**

Local hospital were not run down they were decimated

How odd. Ours improved immeasurably in the first decade of this century. It met all the waiting time targets.

Was this cloud cuckoo land?

SleeplessInEngland · 06/07/2022 13:42

One source is saying that Johson would still refuse to leave even after losing a NC vote and instead choose suicide by snap election.

Sounds fanciful, but 6 months ago all this would have seemed fanciful.

WatchoRulo · 06/07/2022 13:43

😂Yep - he is an abject lesson to everyone about the kind of worthless lying cunt we get as a prime minister if we aren't more careful.

Is that nuanced and insightful comment the best you can manage?

RiverSkater · 06/07/2022 13:49

He's finished. I'm enjoying his demise.

However, I would like some of his INCREDIBLE self belief in his ability despite the unassailable evidence that he's a crock of shite. Confused

Waiting times 2010

Since 1997, there have been major and sustained reductions in waiting times for most hospital treatments. Now (in 2010) most patients are seen, given tests and treated within 18 weeks of referral by their GP.

93 per cent of admitted patients and 98 per cent of non-admitted
patients wait less than 18 weeks for treatment. Most waits of more than 18 weeks are for trauma and orthopaedic or neurology services.

Waiting lists:

from April 2009 to the summer of 2013 the total list remained fairly stable, at around 2.5 million people.

In 2019 (so before the pandemic)

85.8% were seen within 18 weeks, missing the government’s target of 92% yet again. The waiting list size is estimated to be at 4.37 million by NHS England.

Yeah but Cloud Cuckooland @ClaudineClare. 🤷‍♀️

Summerwhereareyou · 06/07/2022 14:02

Blossom , hospital crisis and in particular maternity ward's were in the media nearly every day.

It's a glib comment when people were genuinely frightend to end up in either of them and tales of absolute horror from people that did.

It's all in the media from that time.
I can link but such a casual, repugnant comment leads me to believe you wouldn't care.
