To think that takeaway pizza isn’t worth it?

Takeaway pizza is often very expensive and when compared to a similar offer from a supermarket can come to double or three times the price.

I find the supermarket alternatives just as suitable however have come under fire recently for dissing dominos in this way.

How do others feel on what I didn’t realise was such an emotive topic?!

We have a few really nice places near us

I love domino's but refuse to buy them now they don't do half and half

Well dominos isn’t really pizza! I only get one if we are being lazy on a Sunday, I order at 11:50 and take advantage of the “50% off Brunch deal”. I can only have a slice of 2 because it makes my stomach bloat.

I also don’t like based on supermarket pizzas you either get something like cardboard or a dense cake… (similar at dominos)

we have a local authentic pizza place that charges you £100 if you want to add pineapple as a topping 😬

Nowhere delivers to where we live so if we do get takeaway of any kind we have to go and collect it, a 10 mile round journey on top of £30 for pizzas for the whole family is just too much!

We have recently been buying frozen pizza dough for about £2.50 for 2 bases and making our own and they are so much better than dominos or pizza hut, nicer cheese and toppings and none of the grease!

I definitely think it's a waste of money getting takeaway pizza, it's not exactly much effort to switch the oven on and stick a pizza in!

Completely agree. No change from £20, and you can get one just as nice from the supermarket for a fiver.

@Blueberryella I think it's £1 a dough ball, but that makes a 12 inch-ish pizza. We usually get 3 unless we have people over. Plus we only need to give them an hours notice minimum, as long as they're open

Not a fan of any takeaway pizzas. Always regret doing it so gave up a long time ago.

Homemade for us these days. Although we do like a pizza express for eat out pizza occasionally.

Yanbu but I love Domino's. They are a thing in themselves. There are definitely better pizzas out there. Bizarrely, I do not like Pizza hut! I'm discerning with my shit not real pizzas!

I retract my precious input of home made being pennies. The price of mozerella today has made me think of selling a kidney!

Do you know what, Dominos and Papa Johns are a total rip-off, but give me one of those really cheapo takeaway pizza places (you know the type that often double as a kebab shop) ANY day of the week, omfg they are so tasty.

And they are SOOOO much better than supermarket pizza - thicker softer dough, TONS of delicious melty gooey cheese. And they always do prawns which is my favourite pizza topping ever. Heaven. And not too expensive either.
