Flat-chested mean comment from supposed friend

Stardust35 · 02/07/2022 19:22

Before going on a work night out I was already feeling anxious/panicky (social anxiety). Despite telling my husband that I really didnt want to go, I pushed through to join, thinking it would be okay when I got there. Before leaving I put on a new dress that I felt confident in, did make-up nicely etc. Then whilst out, I complimented a supposed friend on her dress. Another colleague said she was jealous about her boobs filling the dress, and wished she could. Then supposed friend said, "you do have boobs unlike [me] who really does have a flat chest."
I'm a b cup. I'm already inwardly self-conscious and felt totally shit about myself from that comment. Every one else sitting nearby looked taken-aback that she said it. Am I wrong to still feel upset now?

@BDeyes it’s all about confidence isn’t it?

Look at 90s Kate Moss- stunningly pretty, waif like figure, flaunted it.
Audrey Hepburn, renowned for her beauty- again, waif like.

Look at most successful female athletes, ballet dancers etc. We admire them for their strength and ability, not their boob size.

It’s all about mindset.

Tips don't sag if you wear a properly fitted bra that's supportive. Alot of women aren't they just grab a crap bra from the supermarket which they haven't tried on or been measured for. Wear quality fitted bras and you won't sag.

How old are you though? Are you just trying desperately to convince yourself that this is true? My hairdresser has massive breast implants and she has no luck with men because she attracts the wrong types.

I've always been 34b (except for a while after breast feeding when they shrank) and now I’m 49 and they look almost the same as they did in my twenties.

Isthisthunder · 02/07/2022 21:54

My own dm who was large in the bust department would say this often to me when I was growing up (mainly ages 14-17). It made me extremely self conscious, as let's face it most girls at this age want boobs (I did anyway). I would be about to go out and she would say "you look nice and so flat chested." It made me feel awful and I told her finally why would she sat it, and she replied because she would want to be like that. Later in life dm had a breast reduction and I realised the insults were from a place of envy and jealousy. Despite the latter I don't forgive her for what she said, she should have known better.
Could your 'friend' be jealous of your figure op? It's sounds like she is. When people put others down it is usually because they feel threatened and negative about themselves.

Isthisthunder · 02/07/2022 21:55

say*

seaUrchinOne · 02/07/2022 21:58

Models are normally a 34b as most styles of clothing fit that shape.

I used to be self conscious of being smaller busted but now in my 40s it's a blessing.

Maray1967 · 02/07/2022 22:00

What a horrible thing to say. Not good of the other people sitting there to let it go either.
She is no friend.

GoldenSpiral · 02/07/2022 22:02

I agree that she's probably jealous of you in some way. You might be more successful at work or more attractive or slimmer than her. Who knows. What we all know, including your colleagues, is that she's a cowbag.

Serenity45 · 02/07/2022 22:03

"Well I could have a boob job but you'll always be an ugly cunt"

Said in my head but tempted to shock the rude twat

Bellyups · 02/07/2022 22:07

She has outed herself as a nasty piece of work.
FWIW, b cup is not flat chested. I guarantee she is jealous of something about you, which is why she made this nasty faux pas

This post is nothing to do with what men like, men's preferences are not the centre of everything.

Nice bit of misogyny there too 🙄

daisypond · 02/07/2022 22:18

That’s a terrible, rude comment. And a B cup isn’t flat chested. I really am flat chested - I’ve had my breasts cut off - so I’d hate to think what she’d make of me.

mommybear1 · 02/07/2022 22:28

That is not a friend - ditch her and move on

Thinkingblonde · 02/07/2022 22:29

“Well, she looks gorgeous to me, more than a handful is a waste.” Said by my DH to someone who said similar to me. I was a 34B.
She was rude,
B cup is fine,

ClinkeyMonkey · 02/07/2022 22:58

Horrible unnecessary comment for your friend to make. I've always been small chested and loads of people have felt they had the right to comment on it, including complete strangers (in this case always men). I would never comment on the size of someone's chest, unless asked for an opinion - which would just be weird!

I always wanted bigger boobs and was very disappointed when they barely changed during pregnancy. But they fed two babies, so they did what they were meant for and now I couldn't care less what size they are.

Crayfishforyou · 02/07/2022 20:13

Me too, the backache, the neck ache and the ugly expensive bras suck.
and as for the comment about sports bras…
WTAF. Utter bollocks, sports bras are hideously difficult to get to fit if you lug about cantaloupes on your chest.
And I don’t want to attract the sort of men who were into page 3. That’s the problem with big boobs, your categorised as sexy. I don’t want to be sexy.

Ugly lol you can get some nice larger bras.

girlfriend44 · 02/07/2022 23:01

Neckache,backache never had

girlfriend44 · 02/07/2022 23:05

Gorgeoux · 02/07/2022 20:07

They never put flat chested women on page 3 etc.

Small breasted women are extremely popular in porn, since men's approval is so import and to you. Men like different things. If one wants to shag you, he'll compliment your big breasts. That doesn't mean it's his ideal or only preference - not that it matters, or is even remotely true that smaller breasts are inferior.

I didn't say it was important to me. In porn large is always highlighted how often do you see a man with a small penis in a film.

FarmGirl78 · 02/07/2022 23:10

Honestly with my hippo sized knockers I'd swap for your B cup any day. I just always look so.....wide. Can't wear strappy tops because my only options are bras that look like parachute harnesses, or bras that merge my matronly appendages into a mono-boob, like one giant sausage running round my front. When I was 17 big boobs were great, once you're past 25 they're just too cumbersome and a faff.

SimonaRazowska · 02/07/2022 23:13

It comes from a point of insecurity within herself most likely

I had a friend who made comments about my lack of boob age (found out later it was because her husband had something about me looking nice in a shirt dress)

Just let it go in one ear out the other

Also, big boobs are not better than small ones...

If you'd sworn like that you would have looked and sounded terrible.

If you want to say something come back with a few tactful and we'll thought out words or just say nothing and don't let it get to you.

Oceanus · 02/07/2022 23:26

YABU to feel bad, it's the person commenting on your boobs who should feel bad for having poor social skills and a loose tongue.

Oceanus · 02/07/2022 23:29

My boobs were massive back in the day EE or F, then I had a breast reduction and I'm a very proud B. I wish I'd done it sooner! No regrets here.

To be fair PPs have been claiming "men prefer large breasts", as a blanket statement.

You are completely right though, the thread and OP has nothing to do with men (or women's) sexual preferences.

I wear push up bras with low cut things, not because I think it will be attractive to men Hmm, but because I think it makes the clothes look better.

WendellGeez · 03/07/2022 12:34

Is there something wrong with being flat-chested? (Missing the point.)
