Flat-chested mean comment from supposed friend

Stardust35 · 02/07/2022 19:22

Before going on a work night out I was already feeling anxious/panicky (social anxiety). Despite telling my husband that I really didnt want to go, I pushed through to join, thinking it would be okay when I got there. Before leaving I put on a new dress that I felt confident in, did make-up nicely etc. Then whilst out, I complimented a supposed friend on her dress. Another colleague said she was jealous about her boobs filling the dress, and wished she could. Then supposed friend said, "you do have boobs unlike [me] who really does have a flat chest."
I'm a b cup. I'm already inwardly self-conscious and felt totally shit about myself from that comment. Every one else sitting nearby looked taken-aback that she said it. Am I wrong to still feel upset now?

I have a friend who has smaller boobs and honestly it’s such an advantage; she looks so slim and AMAZING with no bra on. She’s comfortable and she doesn’t get those painful indented shoulders. Honestly, I think your so-called friend is just jealous.

Stardust35 · 02/07/2022 19:46

I also wish I'd have said something but was so taken aback and literally had only been there 10 mins that I just didn't know what to say! Plus with other people sat with us I just avoided eye contact and changes the conversation. That's why I'm thinking about sending a WhatsApp message to say that it was out of order.

Everyone around who heard the comment will be judging her so don’t feel embarrassed in the slightest, she’s a dick.

Tbf most normal people would have been too shocked to say anything at the time.

ABlindAssassin · 02/07/2022 19:48

You aren't flat chested if you're a b cup!

However, maybe she thought it was OK to comment on your breast size as people were commenting on hers? If it's OK to discuss her big boobs then surely it's then OK to mention your smaller boobs too? I'd have laughed it off (my boobs are smaller than yours) - but I'm not self conscious about it. If your friend knows it's something you are concerned about then she was rude to mention it in that way.

Googlecanthelpme · 02/07/2022 19:49

Open up your WhatsApp and send her a message

“Hope you enjoyed the works night out, I didn’t want to say anything at the time because I didn’t want to embarrass you or cause a scene but the comment you made about my “flat chest” was extremely rude and hurtful. It really isn’t appropriate to comment on another persons body, ever. It was both spiteful and disrespectful and I’m sure you noticed that it made others feel awkward and embarrassed. I don’t wish to get into a debate over it but I would appreciate if you keep your opinions on my body to yourself in future”

call that bitch out.

Ownedbymycats · 02/07/2022 19:50

As the possessor of a pair of boobs resembling cannon balls, I'd be very jealous of a pair of small boobs.Nonetheless, she's a nasty individual.

CiderJolly · 02/07/2022 19:30

Flat chests look better in clothes anyway, easier for sports/running etc - I’d have taken it as a compliment.

Big boobs aren’t better than small boobs.

Men seem to like them bigger.

You can always wear a sports bra.

LovelyDaaling · 02/07/2022 19:54

Be ready for her if there's a next time, Stardust. Say nothing , just miaow.

ifonly4 · 02/07/2022 19:55

I reckon she's jealous of you. By the way, OP, she'd say I fit into the flat chested category as well - I'm over 50 now, my boobs are in the same place as they were when I was in my teens, no stretch marks - I bet she won't be able to say that!

Baffled twice by this comment.

Men, like all other humans, are into a variety of body types. If you happen to have big boobs it's likely they all say that to you.

A sports bra flattens everything down, thus exacerbating this issue of anyone petite wanting to look more chesty.

Stardust35 · 02/07/2022 19:57

Thank you! I honestly thought she looked good in her dress and told her so. I didn't expect any kind of compliment back but didn't expect an insult either!
I get that maybe she didn't mean it to offend but it did seem an unnecessary comment to make. I wasn't even really part of her conversation with the other woman at the time. I was just sat across from them. I'll be wary around her now I think. Especially where work matters are concerned. Sad as I did consider her a friend.

I bet you looked lovely in your dress OP, and have much more freedom in choosing what to wear with your B cups. I know I did - every thing makes me look matronly with my now rather larger chest. Also a B cup is not flat chested! She was rude and thoughtless.

girlfriend44 · 02/07/2022 19:59

MigsandTiggs · 02/07/2022 19:37

34B is the perfect bra size. Clothes fit well and tits don't sag. I wish I was still a B cup.

Tips don't sag if you wear a properly fitted bra that's supportive. Alot of women aren't they just grab a crap bra from the supermarket which they haven't tried on or been measured for. Wear quality fitted bras and you won't sag.

They never put flat chested women on page 3 etc.

SarahKennedy · 02/07/2022 20:01

B cup? Yes please (I'm an AA on a good day).

I wouldn't have given this a second thought, though. Life is too short to brood on this kind of comment. If your friend has gigantic melon tits, then yours are small by comparison. Fact. But so what?

As for men: any man who is odd enough to judge a woman solely on the size of her breasts is as much of a twat as any woman who judges a man on the size of his dick. I have small tits. DP has a small dick. We fancy one another and have great sex, and have had for years.

I honestly couldn't give a single second's thought about this kind of comment.

Me too, have never understood the obsession with 'big' boobs, they're painful and difficult to clothe sometimes. Very rude to make personal comments about any body aspect, especially in public, she needs pulling up about it.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 02/07/2022 20:04

All breast sizes are good OP. Your friend was fucking rude and it says a lot (and none of it good) about her that she said it.

Surround yourself with people who build you up, not those who put you down to make themselves feel better.

ittakes2 · 02/07/2022 20:06

WTF?
sorry for the language but that was appalling of her.
on the upside people only put other people down to make themselves feel better - you’ll have to take it as a compliment that she is therefore jealous of you.

That's a lovely thing to say op about your man's dick most ppl moan about that or ask for advice.

None of us can help our size anyway we are what we are.

brown543 · 02/07/2022 20:07

Mine are like two fried eggs. But it doesn't bother me so I wouldn't have been offended. Flat chested people may have a different body shape so it's swings and roundabouts.

That said, flat chested isn't a word you should use to describe someone else as it's perfectly understandable if others take offence.

Gorgeoux · 02/07/2022 20:07

Small breasted women are extremely popular in porn, since men's approval is so import and to you. Men like different things. If one wants to shag you, he'll compliment your big breasts. That doesn't mean it's his ideal or only preference - not that it matters, or is even remotely true that smaller breasts are inferior.

So? Equally you'll never see a catwalk model with very large breasts.

Neither of this statements prove that "men like X body type", it's personal preference.

Not everyone wants the kind of bloke who's interested in page 3 girls.
